It was indeed. I was sitting in the seats directly next to the doors coach D walked him out through....and his letter jacket did say Okemos.

Ahhhh...I too am in with this trip. If there's anyone else that would like to carpool up there, two nice (poor) students are lookin to carpool with some fellow zips fans to save a lil money...we have a car. PM me or Drew!

Ummm...I'll be hittin arena #4 on wednesday...but for now...sadly...1) OU (we really need to have a student section on the sideline once we get consistent big crowds, this is primarily why they are effective)2) Can't (only been there for Akron/Can't so i dunno how they respond to non-rivalry teams)3) Zips (If only other students would hit every game like me...)4) Buffalo (goin there wednesday and i vote that they suck) Buh bye. GO ZIPS!

Seems like they don't have much to poke fun at over there and a lot of their folks had been set into reality ahead of time predicting the Zips to win on Saturday. Question: When they make fun of Akron, do they realize that Athens is a little turd nestled between some buttcheek mountains. Newsflush: If Athens actually WAS a city and had more than a population of 150 pseudo-west virginians, there'd probably be a little crime there too. But you have to have a city first.

"Jinx Akron Thread"....Try harder next time.

Were you really not rooting for OSU a couple years back to win the Natl Championship against Miami? If not, unless you're from the state of Michigan, you're unamerican. I am a Zips fan first and formost, but I too was a Bucks fan first.

That was one helluva game. Kinda felt bad to beat em down so bad even while we were playin like crap. Can you imagine if we were on and didnt turn it over 20 times? We prolly would've won by 40. Just one 'lil (kind of) hurdle @ UB on wednesday, then it's on to thwomping the flushes for our next championship.Zips, CLASS OF THE MAC, NOW and FOREVER.

*COUGH* Told ya so *COUGH*GO ZIPS!

ditto to gozips19, but i'm just guessing that it's the same (or similar) to the tie break we won the east in football with.

OHIO Fan. I like the picture in the signature. It may very well be your house, but you only won 4 games last year and most of all managed 110 total yards and 3 measly points at the Rubber Bowl last year. Hold onto that "Our House" thing too, cuz you were actually above .500 at home at 3-2 with a win over a somewhat mediocre Pitt team. And last year, with that stroke of luck run through the tourney, you're just lucky we choked in our first trip to the Gund. We did beat you by 12 at home and 20 in your "house." The stroke of luck of you not meeting us in the tournament probably outshines the miracle of you winning it. I'm just glad we get to clinch a first round bye after beating you Saturday. And you assholio...I don't want to bring up football cuz it's just not fair. But at least Ohio HAS a football program (you have to defeat a division 1 team to be considered a "program"). Akron is for real, and we know the only way you can get past your insecurities is to come on here and try to bash us in our own forum. Pretty sad really, but it doesnt really matter cuz Zips are :macc: in football and basketball. GO ZIPS!

Mark my words...The Zips will win by at least a ten (10!) on Saturday. That's double digits. 10 points. If they don't, I'll wear my Can't State shirt from the infiltration @ the MAC center to my classes on Monday. OU hasnt "found" anything. They've simply won two games against a bad Buffalo team and a mediocre Samford team at home, and that's after getting schooled by miami and losing @ a bad WMU team. Zips will sweep, including Mar. 4 in the MAC East championship game! And isn't the tiebreaker record vs. division crossover opponents as in football? If that's the case, the Zips have a perfect record...

Fantastic predictions! I'm gonna hold out hope that these will ring true (i have also predicted the zips to win their remaining games, see OU prediction thread). We'll be able to overcome that 27 next year, mark my words. With a healthy J Wood and Mr. Fazekas moving on to the NBA (hopefully) in addition to a louder home crowd (hopefully ), we'll pull it off.GO ZIPS!

Being one of about 6 Ak-rowdies that took the busride down there, I can say that Ohio is a decent team (as evidence in our loss @ the convo). Akron is a good team, still learning how to be great (i'm convinced this will show up either in the tournament or the entirety of next season). Mark this one down: Akron will sweep the remaining THREE regular season games. That being said, here are the predictions for saturday and the other remaining games:2/25 Akron 78, Ohio 653/1 Akron 82, Buffalo 772/4 Akron 68, Can't 63 <--This will be us clinching the regular season championship! :macc: Here's to a great season, a great stretch and tourney run and unstoppable optimism for the class of the MAC, Zips Athletics! :macc:

Heartbreaker...again. I'd rather lose by 25...

Just another random post to get #10 in the books. This is random and not in the right forum, but check this out...LUKE GETSY

Good stuff here...my thoughts as I sit down to listen to the pregame on 1350...Rob Preston...which guy will show up? #1 The guy that killed us @ Can't with weak fouls and appearing to be overmatched, or #2 the guy that showed up at JAR vs. BG that was swatting everything and appeared to be a force inside, everywhere at the right time...bottom line, consistency shows up and Zip Watcher is correct, but for now I gotta agree with SGM.as for Mr. Travis. He is a good player. He is NOT a star however. He is really our only inside force barring Preston #2 showing up at gametime. Romeo will have a little of that pressure taken off of him next year when J Wood returns. Jeremiah is a little more of a post presence.aaaand lastly...this team is GOOD. This team is NOT great. I'd love to see a great run through the MAC tourney and the zips goin dancin, but in all honesty, I think a chance for a little run in the NIT would be better for this team than a one-and-done steamrolling by a 3 or 4 in the NCAA. Nevada hit us like a Mack truck, and they're looking at being a 7 or 8 in the tourney now, I'm the most optimistic zip fan out there, but our odds of pulling that kind of upset in our first post season appearance in almost 20 years is between slim and none. Post season experience this year, a team that is one big man away from unstoppable next year and a chance at a win or two in the NCAAs.15 min till gametime, sure wish the ONN had this one, but i'll be fiddlin around on here while listenin to the game. Wanna talk zips? AOL: TheGoldfingerFanGO ZIPS!

GP...do you talk (er, post?) just to hear yourself (er, see?) yourself speak (er, type?). Yeah, you get my point. Quit bein goofy and absorb everyone else's excitement and optimism. As for the new stadium, only thing that bugs me is a lack of places for tailgating. Along with Browns games at the Muny lots and tailgating along the airport fence @ the rubber bowl have provided some of the best times over the last few years of my life. Anyone else concerned about this aspect? Yeah, I know the benefits to the on campus new facility outweight this, but parking WILL be an issue.

Rather than make a new thread, I'll continue on with some random thoughts as I watch the Cavs in double OT @ the Celtics. Dru Joyce more and more reminds me of Eric Snow. And not only the line...6pt, 7reb, 7ast, but just being undersized, with great court vision while still staying relatively under the radar for an entire career, despite being a solid player. Thoughts?

Can't lost to Toledo by 16 while shooting 35%. Good win in 2OT, sure. Get a life.

FearTheRoo and GoZips, hope to see you both @ downtown Paninis for the Bracketbuster. You're both welcome at our table the whole night. I'll be the guy in the Zips hat with a Zips sweathirt on P.S. LOL @ the date stickers...even though i did have a couple of those. They stopped those in '01.

How 'bout a P.O.V. from a student...I've been at UA for 6 years now (don't laugh, I'm 25 and I work full time to pay my way through part-time classes http://zipsnation.org//html/emoticons/biggrin.gifsmilie)I've been going to games since '01 and some of those sorry last-place Hipsher-coached teams. And yeah, it does suck that our students don't show up to support these teams (basketball and football), but it IS getting better. Look what two (TWO!!) years of winning has done in student support for football. Do you think we had ANY students, let alone enough to fill a section of seats, showing up to watch Coach Owens push groups of D level recruits through to mediocre records? These kids are the start of it, getting excited, tailgating, showing up with painted faces and chests. Basketball is coming around too, a few years back when the lower seats were "the pouch" it was considered to eliminate them entirely and sell to the general public because NO students were showing up. Sure, it's still modest (about 50 or so on each end), but we are just into the Dambrot era, two years removed from a 13-15 (7-11) LAST PLACE finish! I agree more than anything that if the students fanbase continues to grow that a midcourt section should be dedicated to them. It is more frustrating than anything to be chanting miscellaneous stuff (simple like "fear the roo," or "z-fense," or even "let's go zips.") and screaming at the tops of our lungs, standing up and to look over and see our "fans" sitting with their mouths closed on the sidelines. If you're out there sitting in those lower seats, sure it's nice you show up and support the team, but get a clue. CHEER, do something. Zips go on a 10-0 run at the beginning of the BG game, BG calls time out. Students go nuts. About 30 fans on the sides stand up and clap. It really is remarkable that we have such a solid home court advantage given the volume level in that place. Sorry, went on a tangent, but you get the idea. P.S. Been a Zips nut for 5+ years now and it's nice to know there's quite a few of us out there. Anyone ever wants to chat zips stuff, AIM: TheGoldfingerFan (I keep updated MAC standings in my Profile)

Gettin there early, bringin LOTS of friends. Lookin forward to a good time and a game-like environment. Come on Zips Nation, let's show up and support this team!
