  1. This is also the reason why the powers that be in Columbus would never "let" it happen. If Akron (or any other remotely powerful in-state rival) faces OSU is if it's after an improbable run deeper in the tournament.
  2. Had some spare time, and I thought we could enjoy watching the Zips in the major polls while it lasts. Let's check what the other teams in the (RV) category of the AP top 25 did during the past week: 20: Wisconsin (1-1, W vs. Mich, L@Minn) 21: Notre Dame (1-1, W vs. DePaul, L@Providence) 22: Memphis (2-0 UCF, @Marshall) 23: Oregon (2-0, @Wash, @Wash St.) 24: Colorado State (2-0, vs. SDSU, @Airforce) 25: Kentucky (0-2, @#7 Florida, @Tennessee) 26. Minnesota (1-0, vs. Wisc) 27: Missouri (1-1, W@ Miss St., L@Ark) 28: Cincinnati (1-1, W vs. Villanova, L@Georgetown) 29: St. Mary's (1-1, L vs. Gonzaga, W@LMU) 30: Creighton (1-1, L@UNI, W@Evansville) 31: San Diego State (0-2, @Colorado St, @UNLV) 32: Louisiana Tech (2-0, @Seattle, @Idaho) 33: VCU (2-0, @UMass, @GWU) 34: Saint Louis (1-0, vs. Charlotte) 35: Illinois (1-0, vs. Purdue) 36: NC State (1-0, vs. VA Tech) 37: Akron (2-0, @EMU, vs. BG) 38: UCLA (1-1, L@Cal, W@Stanford) 39: UNLV (1-1, L@Airforce, W vs. SDSU) 40: Indiana State (0-2, @Missouri St, @Bradley) 41: Virginia (1-1, W vs. VA Tech, L@UNC) 42: Wichita State (1-0, vs. Drake) 43: Belmont (0-1, @Tenn St.) 44: Oklahoma (1-1, W vs. TCU, L@Ok St.) 45: Mississippi (1-1, L@TX A&M, W vs. GA) Looking at teams 20-45, 15 teams lost at least one game. That's 15 out of 25. Zips have a real chance to gain some ground on ballots this week. It's not out of the realm of possibility with a big W on national TV Friday and a similar performance from the poll periphery that the Zips could eek into the 25 the week of the game in Athens.
  3. So, did Chauncey not see the floor? Anyone know anything about that?
  4. I bet anyone that took the "lock" was sweating that one out. Ha.
  5. These are probably some of the best announcers I've ever heard in listening to the MAC webcasts.
  6. 100% correct. We have strength inside, but lack slashers. I think Betancourt could be that guy in a couple years. Nick can do it when he wants to...
  7. I don't understand how we continue to get the disadvantage from the foul line. Sure, our percentage sucks, but how does EMU have 11 attempts to our TWO in the first half? Zips have been playing inside-out ball and just aren't getting calls on the interior. Fouls are about even (7 on UA, 6 on EMU), but we just aren't getting to the line. Strange.
  8. I thought Miami moved to up tempo? They're not starting offense until 20 seconds into the shot clock. Frustrating.
  9. Chauncey was in. Appeared to have a case of the glue-feet. I'd love to see more motion in the offense.
  10. I take it back. Filled in nicely, 3500-4000 or so.
  11. We played there last year. I was there.
  12. Sitting in the stands 20 minutes before tip, we'll be lucky to hit 2500. Lends itself even more to a letdown game... Sure hope not.
  13. Agreed. Heck, OU pulls that one out and if both teams win out, we could be ranked and they could be on the edge of the top 25 for the game in Athens. It's possible.
  14. Is Ohio @ Belmont true? What a homerun for them. I'd be PO'd if I were a Belmont fan.
  15. I am A-OK with NDSU. RPI 65, we didn't get "screwed" so this works. Another top 100 win is what we needed and what we'll have the opportunity to get. This was best-case scenario.
  16. Dang. And the top 11 seed to boot. If we could sniff a 10, I would be in heaven. WIN OUT GUYS!
  17. I don't doubt that many of us would. However, the logistics of moving a division I game, from both sides, are quite complicated, especially in a less than 3 week window. I'd love for it to happen, bottom line is it won't. And we'll be lucky to have a top 100 team as a draw at the JAR.
  18. Love the talk, but it'll never happen. This home game has been paid for by every season ticket holder, as well as I'm sure a few extra single seats. We just have to sit back and hope for the best. We certainly did the best we could up to this point, and a 14 point win over the 2nd best team in the MAC on national TV two days before won't hurt one bit.
  19. I still think we'll only see about 3500 Tuesday and that's a shame. I think we have a solid shot at 17 straight heading into Athens, though Miami and EMU aren't road cupcakes.
  20. Wait, that doesn't make much sense either. Unless they were planning on cutting in front of people who had already lined up in front of them? My wife and I got there at 5:15 assuming this would happen. There was no shortage of people trying to muscle in front, so they really didn't have a choice on opening early. Could've gotten ugly...over a bobblehead.
  21. Right on, Dave. Barring Zeke physically intimidating someone and/or staring them down, there aren't words that should've elicited that technical foul. What is more remarkable is the missed call on the PERSONAL foul prior to the tech being called.
  22. My wife and I are making the trip. First roadie of the year for us.
  23. This.
  24. Love the title. Absolutely correct. 5400 saw a fantastic game. Hopefully 5400 more next Saturday. I'm not sure I've ever heard the boo birds louder than the absolutely atrocious tech call on Zeke. There's a video out there of the play. Call was made by the ref at mid court, not even the guy 6 feet from the play.
