  1. TY pouch, I think you got the ghist of my post. I am well aware of Dwight's history including his MVP Super Bowl award, but is he still there. My contact in Tampa says nothing about this formaer Zip and he is a huge Buc fan. Ditto for Jason T. My point was on him, never saw him at UA therefore could not make same assessment as Konrad, Gres, Cherry and Brake. Bottom line is that there is a friggin world of difference between college ball and the "show". Everyone cant cut it , so but they could catch a break. Starting a mini rant here, take the FG kicker a couple of years ago, he was great...got an early cut by the Cowboys. Its about first and foremost ability and then following closely behind, the breaks. Breaks work at the college level also. Witness perfect example...Jason Swigger. My boy Billy S faultered and Jason got a chance. He has kmade the best of it. Another break: remember opening game Thuirsday night of the 2000 season. who started at QB? Who got hurt? Who came in and began writing history?? Breaks are big/huge. Remeber PW's comments about #5 they almost wrote him off as a player in his freshman year. Sorry for the rant. Here;s to the Padre again
  2. My but are we a bit touchy "tooth monster"???? In the spirit of Padre
  3. Got to always keep in mind that the difference between Division 1 HS and the MAC is like night and day, for a smaller school ever greater. The difference between the MAC and the "blue ribbon" programs (USC/LSU etc ) and take note OSU was not in my comparasion, to the "Show" , the leap is the jump to light speed. Konrad was over rated. Big Gres was a better OL than him any day. Remember when Dwight was here? He was frickin All-World" , where is he now? I did not see Jason T play here so cannot make same observation. The "Show" is massive and oh so cruel. Anyone with the guts enough to give it a try on the come has one giant "attaboy" from me. Some of you may remember Brian Shaw (70) was talked about in the scouting reports as a possibe "practice squad" player. He didnt show me much of that as a Senior and ended up as a back-up most of the year albeit he did get a couple of concussions.
  4. Right here, . I love you Man! Life does suck the big one at the next level.
  5. I have some new rug also. Its also available for distribution to Slugs. BTW, I love you Man !
  6. ZIPMAN........ I am not gonna saddle up get on that damn boat and come to the Roundhouse and drink your beer without some kind opf guarantee that this is not for real. Assure me Dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Don't ya just love typing crap into a computer and some asshole with zits on his nose starts a flame war cause PSU just has to win!
  8. I bet that Billy sullivan has worked his friggin ass off dince the spring and my money says he wins the kicking job back, regardless that Swiger was AllMac last year. Hell is you score a ton of TD's the FG kicker has got to score a lot of points. I agree with your memory CK on the demise of Mr. Swiger.
  9. I've heard of people talking to themselves, but I think the Captain has had too much of that home brew, he is replying to himself now! OMG maybe he is the Da Zipman's horse in disguise? Maybe he is bored to tears at work...who knows! Kepp up the good woprk Captain. Hey Jase, maybe the Captian needs to get on my forwarding list and become a Bush Backer! What do you think????
  10. The buzz down here in C town is that he was urged to go to a JUCO to get his grades up but he refused. Instead enrolled at UA and JD apparantly had one left to give. Hope he can play! Hope they control the academcs better under JD then under LO.
  11. Yes guys, not very deep reporting but I did like what he said about our Ol. They deserve some credit instead of the bullshit aboiut being fat and out of shape. Its a unit this year almost totally intact for three years, I was dissapointed that Boreciii got no mention since he is a pre=season candidate for the Remington Award. Conley could be All-MAC, beibg a four year starter! Gotta take care of my boyz ya know.
  12. Thank you currentzip . Give em hell my friend
  13. Ok man dont hold back any of your facts. Tell us what you know to be true and let us decide whether or not you are full of shit.
  14. ok, lets talk about second halves, like OU. Yes they showed class and what a good team they really are despite sucking on the D side of the ball. Here is another: you might not have been there but I was and do not think I have ever been as cold as I was....Central Michigan in Mt. Pleasant. That game demonstrated where LO and PW fu*ked up last year. They let CM score some points and were down big time. The solution: they simply beat the crap out of their D line and rammed the ball down their throats running it. Just pounded away off tackle play after play. LO and PW committed to the West Coast spread in summer camp and screwed up big time. The team was so happy after that game. They were happy after OU but for 16 of them football was over or probably over and the rest of the college football world kept on playing for 1-2 more weeks. Two hours later, the axe fell. Those 16 who played their asses off for 5 years became ghosts of seasons past, Such a hard reality toi deal with. Oh well, old news, I will stop.
  15. I agree. that W was probably the most savored of the entore season. I also had to enjoy walking around under Camp Randall stadium after the game with my Blue and Good on and people actually complimenting me on how our team played. That meant something. As it relates to the firring ot LO and co, I wish it had occured exactly one year earlier. I think last season m8ight have been very different.
  16. No problemo My Padre. We need some riders along though to make it interesting.
  17. DA ZIPMAN JUST WOKE UP FROM A LONG DRUNK FOUND HIMSLEF NEXT TO HIS HORSE, COVERED IN WHATEVER AND LOGGED IN AND FOUND THOSE 'CLICKABLE SMILES" AND DECIDED TO SPEAK........WELCOME BACK ZIPMAN ..........I AM DEFINITELY FELLIN YA NOW.
  18. My Padre My Padre come on my man, you been spending too much time in XM elevator music land! Let me get you fired up whooooooooo hoooooooooooo.... yee haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.......... Its almost summer camp time BTW I still love you Man
  19. BZ I agree with your choice for the greatest wish and espically about your comments about #42. What a great kid he is athletically and personally.
  20. How very ture my Captain. Some get to graduate to maybe playing on Sunday.
  21. Mile Brake, Jud Cummins, Bob Hendry (got the diploma opted out of the walk) and Brian Shaw all gradyated last Saturday. Brake looked "buffed up" Shaw is in love and Cummins told the Prez "Go Zips" as he got his diploma and shook his hand. Michah F graduated before the beginning of last season. Congratulations to a great class. There might have been more who graduated on Sunday but I do not have that information, (for the Padre)
  22. Dr....this guy played a wonderful game, great pass rusher probably the cause we lost that gAME
  23. Ah and so it begins......predictions and redelictions, prognostications, puffing and just plain bullshitting. I think we all can agree that we want the Zips to win. We need the Zips to win. The gas tank is still relatively full and aside from the player losses on O this should be the year. Notwithstanding the Fryesman campaign, 5 needs some W's to enhance his shot at the next level. The receivers are not last years receivers but they will get better. Now that the staff has had 15 practices they know, opr should know their talent level a bit better. They will work the guys from a conditioning standpoint and get them ready for summer camp. I hope for some surprises and those to be of the pleasant variety. I hope for some W's over unexpected opponents and W's from those that are expected. I am a little worried about the Oline. What I saw last Saturday was not encouraging. I dont know if it is coaching or performance however. Time will tell.
  24. Its all about perspective in this issue. I think everyone is right in their own perspective. Yes, the guys are all good guys but , assuming Pro Scout is who he says he is is correct and i have no doubt he is, he is very right. Matt needs more speed, quicker feet and the ability to pull away from a defender. Witness jamie goodwin in the scrim sat, now there is speed. Nick needs to be tougher, he did not like coming across the middle at all, hell he was a QB converted to WR for gods sake !. And Miquel needs more than one year in the sun also. I also think the program you come from and the character of that program has lots of meaning. I remember going to a visit with someone close to me at Michigan State Uni versity football on campus visit. There, one of the assistants told us (perhaops 60-75 kids and adults) that maybe less than one half of 1% of those there today could expect to make it in the NFL. But not to worry because if you do have whAt it takes, not to worry because they (the NFL) will find that out and they will find you!!!!!!!!!! It only makes sense, there it means something, caue its "about the money and winning. They do not reply on the rumor mill and high school coaches and scouting services rankings for their info, there are real people watching film and going to games and watching targets. Mike Brake is a great kid and could pounish someone after he caught the ball, but he is not NFL quality. Maybe a practice squard player. Marques Hayes, NFW even a practice squad guy.He was not that good. Having a draft party is cool, so is hiring an agent as long as you did not have to pay him or her for a shot in the dark. The guys should pursue the drewam sure but be realistic. Did anyone notice the last deal before ESPN signed off for Draft Day coverage? Mel Kiper listed the top 5 seniors for next year. #% not there and not mentioned. Its all about W's and he aint got none. Maybe JD can fix that. Sorry Padre, but I still love you Man!
  25. 1. Wish the best to Bobby Gardner, hear but unconfirmed that there was bone sticking out of the skin. 2. Great seeing and meeting fellow slugs at the summit. As always old friends Padre, ZFF and the Captain; meeting JP Morgan, Zip Watcher and the good Doctor was great. BTW who hooked up Waddell with the welcome to the "Nation" comment from the halftime frstivities over the PA. 3. Nice to see the rumor was true and the seniors were asked to be the honorary co capitains for the game. There were more than a few there. Soime of them met JD for the first time today. Wow, what a load of shit that is. 4. The scrim: D kicked the O's ass!. Lots of dropped passes, underthrows (or perhaps blown routes) , but the running when that happened was ok. I sat with a couple of experts and according to them, it appears that the protection was breaking down on the OL. Jamie goodwin caught a flare pass and was stopped but reversed his field and came all the way across the firld and then upfield and took a vicious hit on the sidelines, right in front of us. He is so quick. I bring this play up because Charlie was running interfearence for him, he truly is a Superman. 5. I cannot say anything specific about the D because im not a real fan of the D but they did handle the O QUITE WELL, ON THE FIRLD AND THE SCOREBOARD ALTHOUGH IF Gardner had not gotten hurt and the scrim stopped with a few minutes to play, I believe the O would have scored, it was still a butt whippin. 6. I think i saw the first disguised and undisguised blitz by an Akron football team, I have ever seen. Padre, I love you Man! Tenacious D rules
