  1. Not that it really matters, and it was very easy to miss in real time, but there really was a hook and hold. It was only visible from one specific replay angle. It was a very savvy veteran move against a less experienced guy. Anyway, it wouldn't have made any difference, as it had nothing to do with the review or outcome of the game lol. My apologies for being persnickety.
  2. I have had this thought as well. Should the Zips make it to selection Sunday, I think they are going to need Oggie and Barre to continue to progress throughout the season in order to possibly/hopefully make it to the second weekend of the tournament. I do remember thinking Oggie did well defending Townsend the few times they matched up. If, by tournament time, those dudes progress in the system like some of the upperclassmen, the Zippies could have a decent shot at really being a cinderella this season. I think the Bulldogs and Boilermakers gave Akron a good idea of where they are at currently.
  3. Go Zips! Nice win. Hopefully they can carry some momentum into conference play.
  4. At least the past year of my life makes Zips football look pretty decent. I'll ride and die with Coach Joe.
  5. College basketball's 'lawless, cesspool' transfer portal must be fixed
  6. Congratulations on a good conference season, Zips. Wish this game had turned out differently for you guys. I'm sorry.
  7. Nice! Even LeBron is following all gas no brakes! Let's go Akron!
  8. Absolutely! It was a very smart play - situational awareness, knowledge of where NJ was and then putting the ball right on him! Bill Walton would have been so stoked about that pass!
  9. Simply amazing. Fear the damn Roo. Credit to Miami for playing a hell of a game and having a great season. Time for the rest of the country to experience all gas no brakes 😛 https://youtu.be/N2kvzuYrrvI?feature=shared
  10. A rising tide lifts all boats. This squad embodies what can be so great and beautiful about basketball. A fist is stronger than five fingers. It's genuinely wonderful watching them thrive off of one another. No disrespect to NIU, but I truly hope we're able to give Enrique a show 😊
  11. Enrique's is truly an amazing story. I will never forget that UCLA game. With 'Rique still in the game they maybe make Akron basketball history. That was a tough whistle. That was probably the closest many will get to a Zips Basketball tourney win in a lifetime and he was the catalyst of it all - not to take any credit away from the rest of that year's team. A very special memory for sure. It will be nice to celebrate on Tuesday 😀
  12. Dawson with 15 points and a huge offensive rebound off of a missed free throw to help seal the game in the Herd's 77-72 win over Arkansas State.
  13. Hella fun game. 1. It's still January, but this team is REALLY starting to figure it out. They are a lot of fun to watch. To do that to the other best team in the league right now? Goodness 😂 2. Miami is likely going to be there at the end of the season along with Ohio, Kent, and Toledo. Every day is an opportunity to improve and they are all treating it the exact same way. Always respect to Ohio, Kent, and Miami. They've made NCAA runs, we haven't. 3. With apologies to Andrew Callaghan - All Gas, No Brakes!!!!
  14. Watching the ball movement, cutting, and screening, it's clear that collectively they are really starting to get it. When an offense starts executing and moving with that sort of precision - that's when basketball really becomes such a beautiful dance. The past 3 halves of this offense almost remind me of Groce's DJ Cooper era teams at Ohio during some of those games at the Convo where they just had the Akron defense completely lost. This was the first time I've been fortunate enough to see a game in person this season and holy moly is Sharron Young FAST! All in all, an enjoyable evening at the James A. Rhodes Health & Physical Education Building!
  15. On to Buffalo!
  16. The Zips move to 2-1 at home this year. I like it.
  17. Peden is a tough place to win, especially on homecoming. Tim Albin is a good coach and Ohio is a damn solid football program. I thought our defense played great when they weren't tired. I thought Marcus Moore Jr. was disruptive. I believe Golden-Nelson had a few nice plays. Guys were playing with intensity on that side of the ball. Special teams were very solid too. Defense and Special teams are good enough to put this team in a position to win every game left on the schedule. However, it's gut check time for the offensive line. Seeing that type of discrepancy in rushing yards and time of possession against an opponent that is much more similarly talented than the teams we've faced out of conference makes that abundantly clear. I really think the rest of this season will come down to offensive line play. Gotta shake it off, get the headspace right, and get ready for another very good opponent in Bowling Green.
  18. Akron Kent final. It's in the blood.
  19. Time to find ourselves. Dig deep. We know we can win this game.
  20. Not a knock on the contributions of the first two, but I've had the same thought. 🤔
  21. The Cardinals have nothing to hang their heads about after this one. They gave a tremendous defensive effort, and Basheer Jihad and Jalin Anderson were matchup nightmares offensively. Great game from both of them. Mikal Dawson was the difference late in the game with those two massive three pointers. Excited to see him finding his rhythm offensively again! Experienced squads know how to finish games like these. If I had no rooting interest, this would have been a really fun Tuesday night basketball game to watch. Grateful to get the roadkill!
