  1. Hilariously ironic comment from jcribbs16fan on deadspin. I wouldn't exactly call Abreu a star... But he's still a good player. This is so completely unshocking if you follow MAC basketball... Akron does not hold its players to a reasonable standard. Check also: Quincy Diggs & Demetrius Treadwell. #Crackron Cribbs, you'll recall, was the upstanding (and clearly brilliant) citizen who called the police to his residence to settle a domestic dispute... and forgot to get his drug paraphernalia out of plain sight before letting the cops in.
  2. Selfish, yes. Disrespectful to the team, yes. A terrible reflection on UA, yes. But to set your hopes on him being made an example of and wanting him to rot in prison? (For selling weed???) What the heck is wrong with you guys? Questioning why someone would want the best for him by sending their prayers his way? Self-righteousness knows no bounds I guess. Here's hoping someone steps up... and hoping no less that everything works out for Alex.
  3. Please PM me if you've got a pair of tickets you could part with. Apologies if threads like these are frowned upon, I didn't see anything about it on the board rules but feel free to delete it if it's bad form. Thanks!
  4. According to last year's media guide... Evansville 8-9-1 Howard 2-8-0 Indiana 6-23-2 SIU-Edwardsville 0-12-1 St. Louis 3-7-0 Wisconsin-Milwaukee 8-9-0
  5. You got my hopes up, I thought it might be some "Old Zippy" gear.
  6. Le Bron Speas Very bad call. The LeBron comparison is assinine. I don't think he was being serious. Anyway, he needs to sign that homegrown contract and we'll finally have a former Zip playing for an MLS club within driving distance!
  7. From gozips.com... "The Zips (15-3-4) will next face Charlotte, which upset 11th-seeded UAB 3-1, next Sunday, Nov. 27. With both teams unseeded, the host site is expected to be announced by the NCAA Committee Monday"
  8. There definitely ought to be a change after the ACC tournament but depending on the actual RPI numbers it can not be simply viewed that a loss will drop them very far given the RPI of who they lose to and whether it is home or road game. At least we know there won't be any ties.Actually, for RPI purposes, I'm pretty sure that games that end in PKs are counted as a tie.Correct.Top four is going to be a difficult proposition. Top eight would be likely if we win out... then you never know if the regional host will drop a game and give home field to the next team in line.
  9. If Carolina beats Maryland Friday night, six of the top seven will have posted a loss this week. Frustrating because we could have gained some ground, but at least we probably didn't lose much. UC-Irvine dropped two matches.
  10. I'll bet on Maryland and Louisville in those matchups.
  11. Great comparison, this match will be epic. I say Akron 2 - OSU 0 and yet another new attendance record. I hope the Rowdies reach new heights of verbal abuse towards the keeper and the opposing fans. Personally I know someone who got into it with an OSU parent a couple years ago during passing clinic we put during that 3-0 home victory.
  12. UConn will probably lose at least a couple before season is over. They never have been capable of putting it all together and this year will probably not be any exception. As long as we remain in top 4 on NSCAA poll it's fine by me. Bring on OSU!!!! Being top four is NSCAA poll may be a lagging indicator of being a top four seed, but it's not a lock. There's still a selection committee and they still lean on RPI and don't take any other ranking into account. Either way I could see us not losing a match this season and I'd have to think that would bode well for our seed. UCSB is the only match that I think we stand a decent chance of losing. Schedule is softer this year than the last couple.
  13. Surprised at his lack of inclusion so far as well... Can anyone confirm whether he's just fallen out of favor with CP or if it's injury related? Ideally when everyone's eligible and injury free, I think our best XI would be... Meves, Yedlin, Barson, Gallego, Mayer, Brenes, Trapp, Quinn, Caldwell, Holmes, & Mattocks.
  14. Where do you draw the line? You been to many swim meets lately? If not are you a "true Zip fan"? Personally I'm with Jacob, I can think of more things than I have time to list that I'd rather do than attend a women's soccer match... I don't think that makes me any less of a Zips fan, it just means I don't really care for women's soccer.
  15. It's an objectively observable fact that more students have turned out for soccer than basketball in recent years. Soccer has outdrawn football on a few occasions too if you count actual attendance vs. paid. I'd say that constitutes comparable fan interest... if fan interest can be judged by how many fans show up to the events.
  16. I hate it when we lose these huge rivalry games. Think of all the recruits we're going to lose to OSU now.
  17. Looks like it. Schmitt started again too though, so I'm sure that will make up for it.
  18. I agree. Ashley Cole was the first of this breed, to my knowledge anyway, especially when with Arsenal. Roberto Carlos (Brazil/Real Madrid) was the first of this breed 15 years ago. Right On! How could I have forgotten him!?! How long did that dude play professionally? 20 years? He still captains the newly rich Russian side Anzhi. Plays alongside Samuel Eto'o now.
  19. My vote goes for... "We'll do what we want, we'll do what we want, we're Man United, we'll do what we want!" Generally employed right after a goal is scored.
  20. If there are any objects in your home sharper than a spoon someone should hide them before you hurt yourself.
  21. So he was our Greg Jennings tonight? Haha, no one gets it.
  22. You're joking, right? They're geographically the closest professional soccer team to us and as of next year there will be at least four players on the UA roster who the Crew have right of first refusal to sign. Also, the Crew has N-O-T-H-I-N-G to do with Ohio State (and neither do we for the 1,782,954th time). You'd think you'd want the entire team to be drafted by the Crew so that you could watch them in person more often. Whatever, let the ankle-biting continue...
  23. I always make my tough career decisions in front of a captive nationwide audience in primetime. And when I do I make sure I make it as hard as possible on the company I'm leaving. I might even name it something that stirs up old memories for them of heartbreaking moments.... And do you also always make your tough career decisions at a Boys and Girls Club, and donate the proceeds to that charity? I am a LeBron supporter, but I thought the "event" ended up not being a good idea. But, I think you're hanging onto the end of a very long limb if you think that he planned the event with the purpose of sticking it to everyone that he could. Just say you don't like that guy. I can believe that. I'm with you. Sure he stabbed an entire city in the back... but after he pulled out the knife he auctioned it off on ebay and gave the proceeds to charity so it's all good. By the way, I make my career decisions privately... and the hate directed at him would be significantly lower if he had done likewise.
