  1. This could result in a TB Theme song played every time the Zips take the field. Possibilities include..... Alabama Wants Me (sung to the tune of Indiana wants me). I Shot the Sheriff. Cannonball Run Theme.
  2. What is this, a Cowboy Love Thread? Both their rifle team and club baseball team suck big time.
  3. If you are not aware of the summer solstice the answer to the first part of your question is "yes."
  4. To All My Liberal Friends: Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practice of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2012, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference. P.S. If I have offended anyone with this message, please let me know on what basis you found offense and I will include it in next year's season's greetings. To My Conservative Friends: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
  5. Because Terry has spent a good deal of time south of the Mason Dixon Line, look for his final contract to require the University to keep him surrounded by at least three Ohio Highway Patrolmen.
  6. Marshall still has it listed as starting at 4.
  7. Could you do it again (with all the words this time)?
  8. Dennis is doing the best that he can and your claim that the team's performance is all due to the passion and commitment of Newt undercuts the job Dennis is doing.
  9. Too much eggnog 13?
  10. I'm pretty sure Moore being on the roster played just as important a part in TBs decision making process as did our average annual rainfall.
  11. No coach gets hired or fired without an AD playing an integral role. Does not happen! Period! Also inextricably involved is the approval of the Board of Directors. Both the AD and BOD are culpable for Iannello. Both are to be praised for Bowden. There is an element of chance in every occurrence. Maybe TW got lucky. So what! All that counts is the scoreboard. Yes. It is because of Men's Soccer 2010 Championship that I am willing to defend TW. Was he primarily responsible for it? Certainly not! But TW played his part in it. Top executives take both the criticism and the accolades. What is your suggested response here, what is your rationale? "Nice job, Tom, but you're still fired because of that other thing." Are we allowing for Wistrill to redeem himself? If you EVER associate me with Kan't State again, I will make it my personal business to find out who you are. There is a difference between argument and insult . I will agree that TW had as much input in this hire as did the Board of Directors. Strangely in this case, their contribution was matched by the role played by the folks at the Parking Office.
  12. Faust won big at Moeller because he was able to recruit the best HS players from 3 states. Once he had some actual competition in recruiting and talent, he couldn't win. Apples and oranges. So, I think we agree that Gerry had success at a lower level, or are you saying Moeller was at a higher level than the Zips?
  13. Makes sense. In business, you interview a number of candidates before offering the position to the one who you find through the interview process to be the most qualified. There are things that are brought out during the interview process that may cause either the interviewer or interviewee to decide that there is not a good match. It appears that UA and Bowden found each other mutually attractive during the interview process, and that mutual attraction did not work out with the other candidates. And if the first one you make the offer to turns you down then you don't count that as an offer and make your first offer to the second best candidate. Key word in this is "technically" Absolutely. The Akron folks drove up to Detroit to make a nontechnical offer. Exactly Meister, They went up to gauge interest in receiving an offer that didn't happen. You know like the ole junior high date question "you wouldn't, possibly, maybe be interested in going to the dance with me, if I was maybe to ask?" This is why telephones were invented.

  16. The only problem I see is Gerry Faust had all the same qualities when hired at UA. Could be Faust part. 2, I'm trying to be optimistic, but the bad luck we have with the football program is killing my spirits. Faust never coached at a lower level. I know Akron is down right now, but high school technically is a lower level. Faust had a highly successful run at Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1962 to 1980, where he built the program from scratch. The Crusaders under Faust had a 178–23–2 record and included seven unbeaten seasons, four national prep titles, and five Ohio state titles in his last six seasons. Now if one of the criteria is success at a higher level, there is definitely a difference between Gerry and Terry.
  17. Solich went the four year recruit route, not heavily Juco. The university never would have allowed it. OU Roster Compare past to starters and you will see more JUCO at OU than most MAC schools. I'm trying to stay with you on this one. How is comparing "past to starters" going to help me "see more JUCOs at OU than most MAC schools"? Wouldn't it be better to compare the rosters of the various MAC teams?
  18. Does he shill for Discover Card?
  19. Any word on a hire yet? Tick Tock.
  20. Because Urban's base is $400k, I say $400,001.
  21. $200,000 and I guarantee 1 win.
  22. Absolutely not. Mack was horrible. Tom is a step up, thankfully, but neither could hold Waddell's jockstrap! Let's be realistic here. Actually, either one could hold Waddell's jockstrap. This task requires almost no skill.
  23. Expect a surprise announcement involving JT by Saturday.
  24. or a second step in the wrong direction.
