  1. Wistercill and Ianello are a combo-package. If one goes, the other goes. Wistercill is a remora on the belly of Caleb Porter and Keith Dambrot. He inherited two great coaches, and TW looks really nice smiling in their respective championship photos...but he had nothing to do with their hiring or success. Wistercill was hired to: 1.) Fill a brand new football stadium, and hire a football coach that can win games 2.) Don't screw up soccer and basketball Wistercill sabotaged Brookhart's final season, holding weekly interrogations trying to get the guy to resign over some BS secondary-level recruiting violation. If Brookhart resigned, UA would save $250k in salary. UA didn't save the $250k, but he did get rid of JD after a 3-9 season. And you know what...I don't care about how the JD firing was handled. Sausage tastes great, but you never want to see how it's made. Ditto running an Athletic Department. But we didn't get a decent coach out of the deal. We aren't better program as a result. We are worse-off than after Faust, Owens or Brookhart. Way worse. The $70million dollar stadium sits empty. Gerry Faust and Lee Owens won games at UA with crap facilities. With a budget that was far below "shoestring." Brookhart won a championship. When he lost, he was usually competitive. He beat Syracuse and NC State. Ianello is horrible. His team is reaching depths that no other UA coach has seen in decades, if ever. He's been whipped back-to-back by annually woeful K.e.n.t., who fired their coach only 11 months ago. Ianello's game-day bungling has become legendary. I'd never left a Zips football game early, until Saturday. With 15 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter, I'd seen enough. To my surprise, I saw familiar face after familiar face in the parking lot. Decade+ season ticket holders by the dozens, heading back to their vehicles before the 4th quarter began. Surreal... Wistercill made his own call with Ianello. He put all his money on black...and the ball dropped on beet-red. But instead of his money on the table, it was all our money. That sucks. The inertim AD needs to fire Wistercill first, so he doesn't have to fire his friend Rob. That's the classy thing to do. Then it all begins again. If you want Hunter Yurachek's cell, just PM me. Have you thought about sending this post to Dr.P? I am vehemently disappointed in how few posts on this board include a Remora reference. You have temporarily salved my angst.
  2. It could be much sooner than you think. I hear we are just days away from signing dozens of 4 and 5 star recruits.
  3. I stayed at home today, but watched the game. If it is inflated, there could have not been 15k actual bodies there today. I'm too depressed to even comment about your second sentence.
  4. and our win is over the #9 RPI team!!!
  5. ESPN had a short report on the game during the Miami/Temple game halftime.PREDICTIONGiven the relative lack of sporting activity tonight, I think there is a good chance a play from the game will make ESPNs top ten plays on Thursday.
  6. especially ones as outdated as these.
  7. Remember we are dealing with all the information. I certainly would have broken it up knowing what we all know. But do we know what McQueary knew at the time? Additionally from a Joe Pa point of view, he gets info from a GA, he does what he needs to do with it. Tells the AD and a guy who is in charge of the PSU Police department, that is like telling the commissioner of a police department. To me that is as handled as it could be.Now if McQueary saw what he says he saw in the indictment, how does he continue for 10+ years seeing Sandusky on campus and never questioning what happened. For Joe Pa he went to the authorities, they said they would investigate the accusation, if Sandusky wasn't removed or suspended by them, what else was he to do? Additionally there were external investigations of Sandusky by the youth organization he was involved with and they did nothing. No one is right on how this was handled, because it went on and too many innocent boys were taken advantage of, but of all parties Joe Pa is the one getting railroaded even though he told authorities, they blame him for not telling everyone?JoePa told just about everybody other than the people he was supposed to according to Penn. law.
  8. Very interesting selective application of the Pa. law which requires anyone who knows of a case of child abuse to report it to the police. Apparently it only applies if you don't tell someone higher up the administrative ladder. The G.A. witnessed the event, but didn't tell police. He wasn't arrested. He told JoePa, who didn't tell the police, but he wasn't arrested. The two guys who get the info third hand from JoePa get arrested because they didn't tell the police. They should have told the University Pres., then they would be off the hook.
  9. The Zmeister has a nice ring to it.
  10. You aren't in charge of calculated paid attendance figures at the Info are you?
  11. Wow, now you are calming the water and addressing issues that don't even exist! Now that's proactive.
  12. I think we need to resolve the "should we count overtime points" issue right away. This cannot wait til the end of the season. It will just fester if left unsettled.
  13. If there is a 1% chance of the deal happening, how much time should TW put into it?50 hours. If the probability is higher, he should spend less time on it. (e.g., if the probability is 99.9% he should spend 1 minute on it.)
  14. Odd...I was told Clayton Moore's passer rating is much better than what we had in 2010? How can we be scoring fewer points? We even have a better running game in 2011?We are not. Please consider the source. In 2010 we scored 121 points through 9 games and in 2011 we scored 138. The 2010 total included 13 OT points. Obviously GP1 was not a finance or math major. There is noting inaccurate about my facts.get the h out of here I believe his point was that based on the same number of games we are scoring almost a whole TWO points more per game than last year. No wonder that QB rating is way up.
  15. suggest you read the grand jury report.
  16. If you guys could all dress up in Zips rifle team gear to do the chants that would be extra cool.
  17. Can Huggins coach football?
  18. thats precisely my point. taking weather conditions at gametime will only show a part of the story as you have the added variable of "marquee" matchups and the playoffs. It would still be another good way to look at attendance, I was just pointing out a valid flaw in the data such considerations would produce. It is critical in this type of analysis to identify both invalid and valid flaws.
  19. I admit that I may be mistaken, but in reading the posts in this thread I'm beginning to sense that some of you are starting to become disheartened with the Akron football program. All I can say is hang in there. Things are about to turn around. We have one of the best recruiters in the business working his tail off as our head coach. The four and five star recruits are about to start flocking in.
  20. Of course we have to play the second half. I have the over in the over/under "bone-headed icoach calls" pool for the second half.
  21. In which area of the game will he make the most bone-headed calls: offense, defense, or special teams?
  22. Fixed it for ya, JZ. BTW, didn't the blackout crowd look cool?I thought they stole the idea of having the crowd dress up as empty bleachers from us.On a related note, the Red Hawk's crowd for a Thursday night game is a 4 star lock to look the same.
