  1. stunning -rolling thur the mac until.... -19 game winning streak -development and improvment of some players -the small doses of national love here and there -humiliating, embarassing beat down vs vcu (this one may leave a mark nationally)
  2. don't underestimate the exp of playing the dec 2011 game.....and imho the zips are a much much better team right here right now... little doubt in my mind akron wins this game and wins comfortably, the ONLY concern i have is foul trouble
  3. so glad the team isn't going into a panic like most members of this board.....luv the match up...bring it on
  4. i like the matchup and i think this team has a great chance of playing a second rd game..zips can break the press by throwing over the top...do that repeatedly and they may have to back off
  5. WOW! Congrats to all....HOWEVER.....NOT DONE.....GO ZIPS!
  6. extreme wishful thinking, stranger things have happened, etc..etc..but perhaps Javon McCRea transfers out....
  7. The first question that came to my mind when I heard about Alex was did any of his teammates know what was going on. If this question was addressed I missed it.
  8. hope you are correct, but they better get dialed in pretty quick. 6-27, 8-24 & 4-21 won't get the job done. mean't to say 20%ish!
  9. 18-72 the last three games, 20%ish!.....abysmal....
  10. who said alex lost his scholarship? can we please let the legal system take its course before you guys bury this kid
  11. my post got nuked because? my bad...feel free to edit...so freaking distrubed by this story
  12. whomever called alex a punk needs a good backhand to the chops.... fight or flight moment for this team, it is what it is and you either lace up your boots and counterpunch or you flee....we'll find out tonight...
  13. Indeed, even with just the lower bowl.
  14. agreed, however it's such a huge hill to climb for akron to get noticed nationally that a loss like this diminishes the attention....when teams like duke lose there's merely a shrug of the shoulders by the national hacks and they're still part of the national scene.... while i get the kids may have been tired and sick, if you are WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE as a basketball team, you HAVE to win these games
  15. I'm convinced regardless of what happens in the MAC Tourney Akron is in the NCAA Tourney....all this national chatter is great but puts an enormous amount of pressure to win at least one game. A first round flameout will be devastating. Having said that, I'm also convinced that is not going to happen. This years team has a different 'vibe' about it than years past.
  16. Livingston typically writes garbage columns, this is par for the course.
  17. http://espn.go.com/espn/dickvitale/story/_...ottest-team-ncb When Memphis lost at Xavier Tuesday night, ending an 18-game win streak, the team with the longest run in America became Akron. That's right, the Zips have won 18 in a row entering a key MAC showdown with Ohio, which is just a game back in the league's standings. This is a tough Zips squad. They got off to a disappointing 4-4 start, with losses at Coastal Carolina in overtime, against Oklahoma State in overtime on a neutral floor, at Creighton and at Detroit. Ever since, Keith Dambrot has done a superb job in leading the MAC frontrunner. You may recognize Dambrot's name; he coached a young man named LeBron James in high school. If looking for a sleeper team in the big dance, Akron may fill the bill. Remember, last year, the MAC provided a shock city specialist when Ohio knocked off Michigan. The conference has had its share of surprise winners at the big dance over the years, a sure sign that this league deserves a lot more respect. The Zips have been doing it with defense lately, holding five straight opponents to 62 points or less. This is a team that has found ways to win, and if they win their last four regular season games, they'll set a school record for consecutive wins. The balanced attack is led by senior center Zeke Marshall. The seven-footer is averaging 12.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. 6-7 forward Demetrius Treadwell is averaging over 10 PPG. That's a nice combination of size up front. Keep an eye on Akron. This team is hot at the right time and could make some noise come tournament time. This is the kind of season where an unheralded team can win a few games and survive and advance in the big dance ... it is that wide open, baby!
  18. couple more... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1543552...shock-the-world http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basketbal..._medium=twitter
  19. http://news.cincinnati.com/usatoday/articl...atref=sportsmod Lebron/akron relationship note Zambrot and Akron University...right there with the Kangaroos btw, as an aside, I have a feeling this is year 1 of a run that will result at some point the consistent national recognition this program longs for. Which in turn will improve the quality of recruit, new arena, etc etc... While I've enjoyed the last several years it never resulted in what is bubbling before zips fans eyes. Love it, can't get enough of it, altho my worst nightmare is a first round ncaa tourney flameout.
  20. I'm stating the obvious here, but free throws are the easiest way to score, and you have to be better than 14-28. Mark my words, and i hope i'm wrong, but this issue will bite this team in the kaboose
  21. 14-28...tree 3-11....this issue will cost this team sometime when they need it the most
  22. stupid idiots? Ohio by a mile
  23. you can count on EMUs feed to be better than what the zips put out....
  24. https://twitter.com/JayBilas/status/296636842751696896 don't know if anyone else saw this...enjoyed it....thought i'd share it.....sorry if already discussed
