Syracuse - Monday, October 1st

I'd add also, that I can't relate to anyone who is not excited about Akron having so many players in the pros. Yeah, they may have moved on from our pitch, but who will be next? how far will he go? The 2014 World Cup was beyond awesome having a former Akron player in the World Cup. If US Soccer would have had it's stuff together, we could have had Darlington and DeAndre in the 2018 WC. [Still no permanent coach!!! ] An Akron player in the English Premier League; Joao (2018) and Steve Zakuani (2009) being picked #1 overall in MLS Draft... "With the first pick in the 2018 [2009] MLS Super Draft, LAFC [the Seattle Sounders] select, from The University of Akron, defender Joao Moutinho [forward Steve Zakuani]" ... I still get chills (and tears) Portland Timbers (coaches Caleb Porter, Cameron Knowles, Pablo Moreira, players Darlington Nagbe, Ben Zemanski, and Michael Nanchoff) play the Columbus Crew (Wil Trapp) in Columbus for the 2015 MLS Cup and on and on ... GO ZIPS!!! -

Good points. Unfortunately, the one and done comes along with being successful. I don't know how you can fix that and continue to be successful. The potential/ability to go pro is what brings top recruits to our program. Without that I'm certain DeAndre and others would not have even considered Akron. -

So frustrating to see our team regress. I love and support every one of our players, but some of them I think need an attitude adjustment. I'm not good at confrontation, but I sure wanted to ask a few of them what they thought they were doing last night. Have they not bought into the system? Lackadaisical play, some unnecessarily long (off target) passes when nearer options were there, and not making use of the width of the field at times, among other breakdowns ... not Akron Soccer. And, I don't care where/how any of them previously played soccer, THIS IS AKRON, and our coaches have a system that has been very successful. Perhaps our players should take a long, contemplative look at those banners hanging in First Energy Stadium. They're not just there for decoration. They represent a justifiably proud program that's been extremely productive since 2007 thanks to a lot of hard work by a lot of dedicated players & staff and a successful system. Work hard, Buy into the system... Learn... Ask questions...but don't go out on the field with a half-hearted attitude thinking you know better than the coaches or your teammates who are playing the system and giving their all. -

Wow, that was a rough one but worth staying up to watch. Happy for the Zips... especially for Diogo Pacheco. Need to clean up some things, but faced with adversity, these guys continued to grind it out for a good win on the road.

Golden Goal, hat trick Diogo Pacheco!!!

Still in lightning delay and Richmond forecast does not look good through midnight.

VCU leads 2-1 at halftime. Currently in a lightning delay of at least 30 minutes before 2nd half starts. Marco Milanese scored Zips goal on a header off of a Colin Biros corner kick.

Not only was it hot, but it was humid. Very uncomfortable just sitting and watching. Had to be really tough for the players. Great win on the road!!! Nice turnout of Zips fans, including Blair Gavin (2009 College Cup Zips), Saad Abdul-Salaam, and Tom O’Rourke (1986 College Cup Zips). DeAndre Yedlin’s grandparents (who raised him and nurtured him through the soccer development process) were also there. As were a number of other Zips fans whom I did not know. GCU sat us behind our bench which provided a very nice, supportive atmosphere for our team! So proud of the progress they have made. Keep it going! Go Zips!!!

@ZipsVoice ... In trying to understand your comment, I listened again to the video you posted on a different computer; In doing so, I realized it's not completely clear that Diogo Pacheco is pronouncing the "o" at the end of his surname, I guess that was your comment, which I didn't understand, and why the stadium announcer may not have pronounced the "o".
