  1. Any word on Middleton's state of mind? He took that last loss pretty hard. I was worried that he would do something stupid. No news is probably good news. He should be the most motivated player in Zips history this year. He spent his summer in Bristol, Conn. - he was an intern for ESPN. What a great opportunity!
  2. Midway between Columbus and Indy is my wonderfully small and agricultural home town...all those residents of "the corn desert" make up the faithful that pay taxes and work hard in that agricultural arena. Occasionally these hard working citizens take a break on a Saturday and travel to a college town to root for their favorite team, be it a Mid American conference school or one of the many, many schools to find a home in this so called corn desert. So for those of you that might be bored travelling along I-70, remember those faithful that populate the stadiums of their favorite sports teams along side you "city folk."
  3. Witnessed the same plays and you got it right...just bad umpiring all around! It's very hard to be a Zip's fan no matter what sport...
  4. Oh! NO!!! Here we go again! The last post related to the institution to the south of The U. of A. was 47 posts too long...let sgm405 and his many, many lengthy posts rest in peace.
  5. Love the future AK-Rowdies group idea! My two girls are definitely applying for membership! They haven't missed a home game since they were born (9 and 11 years old) and have been to several away games this year. Last night my 9 year old got Rome to sign her #24 jersey. Rome was just milling around in the crowd after the game near where Jeff Phelps was set up. My girls spotted him and we shot some pictures and his autograph! Great fun and all the while the Can't Statecks students were taunting us. My girls always dish it back - Can't Read, Can't Write, Can't State! They are not allowed to use the other favorite saying! - got to draw the line somewhere!
  6. "It seemed to me that there were a lot of kids at the BSU game. Was there a special event that day with lots of discounted tickets passed out?" Yes, there was a special that day...if you wore your youth basketball jersey to the game, then you got in for free...Any discounting that does occur should be for children, not adults. Ticket prices at UT range from $6-$10 for adults and $3.50 for children and they are drawing close to 7,000 a game. Similar pricing for GA for U of A would seem to be reasonable. Currently a GA for an adult is $10 and $7 for a child - a family of 4 shells out $34 just to get in the door.
  7. "They all think he got a raw deal from Akron. "With that being said, the coaches that you know must accept mediocre play by mediocre players being coached by mediocre coaches. Lee Owens is widely known as a class act, but putting together a winning program at The U. of A. was not in the works for him and his coaching staffs - they clearly were given too much time to put it together.
  8. What a great Zips moment after the game...the refs were parked in the same lot as we were and once their police escort left them and they were loading into their car, my kids and I rolled down our windows and booed! They were bad tonight ... MAC officials are getting worse each season.Great game by Ced. He should never leave the floor!
  9. My daughters and I attended the WBB game today. We strolled in as we usually do with my ticket and their Zippy passes, but were stopped and told that we must get tickets at the ticket window for the Zippy passes. We waited in the line, yes, there was a line and spoke with the Ticket Manager. He said from now on a Zippy pass must be presented at the ticket office for a ticket on game day only in order to get into the event. I guess they need an actual count of all ten of the Zippy passes presented at each athletic event!
  10. The University of Akron Ticket Office is currently selling reserved seats in section 1 and 2 of Dix Stadium. The tickets are $12 each. Section 1 looks directly into the endzone and Section 2 is from the 10 yard line to the goal line. The general admission areas are the bleachers in each endzone and those tickets are $10 each. The Can't Ticket office is selling those seats.
  11. JD told us last night at the soccer match that Jermaine did indeed have surgery.
