Not what I am hearing at all. Kids are excited the university is committed to putting a winning product on the field. Kids who were going to work out over the holidays are the same ones who would have worked out had the coach assigned them something. The others will eat cookies with the same fervor regardless of whether or not the position is filled. It is officially the offseason now for all of a month or two for the players before off season workouts officially begin. They are looking forward to playing Left 4 Dead 2 and Modern Warfare 2.

Debbie here. I know it is hard to concentrate and all. Especially when the economic downturn is poised to affect the industrialized areas like Akron the worst. I don't think many MAC coaches had their eyes and ears on Akron over the last half of the season. It's actually pretty surprising (to me) that UA landed so many players on these teams. In choosing their most valuable players, the MAC seems to have the position that overall team record is a better indicator of a player's contribution than the stats that actually measure their accomplishments from play-to-play.It is not a perfect system.

I think it is easy for an 18 year old mind to get into that positive mindset. It takes years of crushing reality before you figure out that trying to make a difference is very hard to do.

Why is everyone speculating on players who are leaving? The coach got fired this morning... no one is saying these things with any sort of reliable information. It is fear mongering. They go through multiple meetings with NCAA officials, leave their football family behind, miss a year, and have to transfer all of the credits.It would not be as big a deal for a player who had his sites on the NFL and was a blue chip prospect. Last time I checked, we did not have any of those. Those guys could deal with missing a year, play another, and then bolt for the NFL. If a guy left our system for another in hopes of a better chance at being an NFL player, more than likely it would present a red flag to scouts. Our guys, for the most part, are playing for their education.Let's get behind the AD. He made the decision we all have been clamoring for. Where are you pulling that information from? Wagner is a sophomore academically, which means he is getting into his major now. Both him and Nicely have a chance to play for 4 years and rebuild a struggling program.It is not the JD Brookhart Zips. It is the Akron Zips, who have first rate facilities and a new stadium. I think we should be worry about the recruits. Akron has her meat hooks firmly in the two you mentioned though.
