  1. For the record, teamrankings.com has dropped us to a #10 seed. What's more interesting is that they now project us with the same(actually a fraction of a percent higher) chance of an at-large bid as an auto-bid: 43.8% for Auto, 43.9% for at large. Interesting.
  2. Talking about teams to watch in the tourney this morning, Chuck Booms mentioned Akron and how the Zips could make some noise in the NCAA tourney this year. He said the Zips deserve a berth if they lose in the MACC. Ken Carmen mentioned the 2006-07 team being 26-7 and getting hefted, so we will still have to see how it plays out. FYI this is from Kiley & Booms on 92.3. Btw as I'm typing this Mitch from Akron calls and promotes the Zips. Who was it on here??
  3. Chauncey getting some nice minutes tonight and has played great defensively. Good for him.
  4. if that is the case, I'm definitely glad I held my breath Zips playing pretty well. So far there has been no post loss hangover.
  5. If Chauncey's attitude is anything like yours it is no wonder he has been riding the bench. There is no place for that. And it is a huge shame because Chauncey is a great player.
  6. Although I have so much more to say, I will just be short and to the point : I respectfully but completely disagree.
  7. Accidental double post. So I will just say, I think the Zips cover tonight.
  8. DiG, allow me to say, keep doing what you're doing. I for one, enjoy the statistical side of the game. Often, the best, or only way to support an argument is to provide statistical data to support that argument. There are always grey areas, but this applies to not only sports but real world as well. Keep it up, my fellow teamrankings.com buddy!
  9. Good stuff, however they think our conference tourney starts friday:
  10. complete and utter disappointment.
  11. Zips are not used to this deficit this late in the game. In the run we have been down by 10+ but in the first half. Still time, but I don't want to see forced 3's. There is no excuse for fatigue. U@B has played 7 players to our 11.
  12. Zips are really testing my faith. And Deji just got ejected. Our heads are NOT in this game.
  13. What happened to our defensive prowess? Buffalo shooting 54%. We must get some stops if we want to win this.
  14. Abreu with a 3.... Hopefully this continues the trend of his big 3's lifting the Zips to a rally.... but it starts on the DEFENSIVE end..
  15. they also burned us in the 1H when we went to Zone.
  16. McCrae really wants this. We don't have an answer for him right now.
  17. I'm having a monologue here. Where is everyone? Bulls with 5 blocks in the first half.
  18. Buffalo swatting everything inside. And shooting 50% from deep.
  19. whole team seems nervous to start. But Buffalo shooting well. that won't continue. starting with lots of turnovers.
  20. Consider me one of the people who would rather matchup with Western Michigan or Bowling Green in the semis. I agree that we have much better talent then Can't and shouldn't have any problems beating them, but they are still our rivals. They always play us tough(I'm actually a little concerned about the game next Friday) regardless of them having a down year. Rivalry games are never easy to predict. BG doesn't scare me in the least, and KD has WMU's number.
  21. any way you could speed it up closer to full speed?
  22. Since we are tooting our own horns, I kept faith!!
  23. How about the fact that the Zips are 2nd in the biggest gainers since yesterday... up 9.2% to 95.4%. First? Former Akron foe Creighton who jumps up 9.9% to 83.1%. If I'd have told you in early December that late in Febraury, the Zips would statistically have a better chance of making the dance than Creighton, would you have believed me? I'm thinking no. On the contrary, OU's NCAA chances fell 6.0% to 41.1%. Today is good. *edit* also, on the same page it lists those who have trended up in the last week. The Zips are 4th in highest jump, up 17.5% since last Thursday!
  24. Well written NBCSports story: http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com...-win-over-ohio/ "The Zips still have an outside chance at earning an at-large bid. It’s a long shot, but it’s there. If they can make a run to the league’s tournament title game where they end up losing to Ohio, they’ll have a puncher’s chance at getting a bid. I’d love to see them in. With the size of their front line — namely Zeke Marshall — and the play of Alex Abreu at the point, Akron can pull off an upset on the nights that their threes go down. ... We’ll see how things play out, but the one thing that we can all agree on is that a rematch of Akron and Ohio with an NCAA tournament bid on the line would be a lot of fun.
