Saint Louis beat Indiana State. And oh surprise, VCU beat George Washington. what was the score of the VCU game? Spread was three and I almost put money on it but I know nothing of GW.
-
hmm alright. I might just splurge anyway.

no but $60k for hosting a game must be made up somehow. I also see nothing about student pricing. I might just get a $20 seat since I'll probably be by myself anyway. I'll take the over on your bet. What's the wager?

I'm not sure why I'm taking a particular interest in this game. Maybe it's the fact that I've been watching way too much basketball analysis and feel the need to do my own, but nonetheless I'm still breaking down this game. I find it interesting that their 4, Matt Smith, gets such limited minutes. He's seen the floor for 3, 3, 8, 4, and 5 minutes respectively in their past 5 games. Yet, he continues to start. I can't really find anyone who looks like they take his place regularly, except for Pat Smith, who is a 6'9" and 240 lbs forward. His stats are actually worse than Smith's though. He averages just 2.2 ppg and 3.5 rpg. It actually looks like they run a 4 guard set with 6'3, 190 pound Rian Pearson getting a lot of minutes. Size-wise I think we will match up very well with them. Both teams have a lot of depth at the guard position so our key is going to be keeping them cool and not giving them open looks. For the number-crunchers, here's an excel file with per-game averages for both team's starters as well as the teams themselves: UA_vs._UWGB.zip Look for the seniors to have big games.

That's exactly the point I was trying to make in my 2:21 AM post. I know for sure on a couple drives to the basket by Bassett, Marshall and Conyers were called for fouls which gave him 3 point plays. They were hardly even "touch fouls". They just rubbed jerseys and both were backing away while he was underneath. Usually underneath the basket when players lean back away from the driver, they hardly ever call it. And that's whether you're in the NBA or NCAA. Conyers and Marshall played awesome defense the whole tournament and the refs couldn't give them any respect. Ohio had lots of bailout calls go their way compared to Akron, I'm telling you. McKnight and Conyers were being mauled by Washington and Van Kempen quite a bit with no whistles. I'm not trying to say they favored one team, but I was saying there was no standard flow of officiating whatsoever. The Cvetinovic holding call on Van Kempen and the McKnight inbounds no-call at the end of regulation really made me jump up. +1 that's the best way to put it.

the more I look at this game, the more I get excited. When people said they beat Can't and Wisconsin, I was originally worried. But looking at the stats, I think this is a winnable game for the Zips. Also, both of those games were OT victories. They split with Valpo, who we beat by 20. They have 3 guards averaging double figures in points, with 6 players averaging five or more points, compared to our 9. As far as minutes are concerned, both teams have 9 guys averaging at least 10 minutes per contest. Their PG, Rahmon Fletcher leads the team with an average of 16.1 ppg. Their starting lineup should be Rahmon Fletcher, G 5'10" 165 lbs. Troy Cotton, G 6'1" 180 lbs Bryquis Perine, G 6'3" 180 lbs Matt Smith, F 6'7" 200 lbs Randy Berry F 6'9" 225 lbs They don't have a guy on their roster bigger than 6'9" so I'd look to create an interior presence early. Also, Bryquis Perine has scored in double digits for the past 7 games and since he's the biggest of the guards I'd imagine them playing him at the three, which would pit him up against Jimmy. In fact, as I look at his stats, he has scored in double figures in 25 of their 33 games. WGB last 10: (6-4) UA last 10: (7-3) I think UA matches up well in this one and I look forward to Wednesday!

I'm watching the game over as we speak. Seeing a lot of no-calls and questionable calls both ways. Naturally since we lost we are going to feel affected by the refs. I don't think anyone can say that the refs specifically "had it out" for the Zips but I'm seeing ALOT of calls where no contact was made. For as much as they "let them play" its looking like that was only in favor of the Bobkittens.

I'll give 'Zips Supporter' credit, his party is organized. the officials sucked no doubt, Ohio was in the bonus in the 2nd half with 11+ left ...however 8-30 from 3pt land won't help either....this garbage about the gonzaga of the east is laughable...this team COULD have had 4 straight ncaa appearances...JC it's hard enough to get to the MAC title game, but in classic akron fashion let's set the record for most championship game loses...i'm still pissedagreed but I swear it is always the same thing when we lose. "Well the refs sucked, but our shooting percentage was terrible." I'm starting to think, after that game last night, there is some correlation. when we took the ball strong to the hoop, we got mauled with no call, yet OU continuously drove to the hole and got calls a lot of the time. we were forced to take jumpshots. Also, when you are playing great defense, setting a perfect double team, and your opponenet drags his foot about 5 feet right in front of the ref with no call, it's got to take the wind out of your sails a bit.ref's don't win or lose the game, but very poor officiating can really affect a game.

I watched it on TV. Here were some calls I noticed that were bad.- The Roberts block on Van Kempen outside, he was definitely all ball and there was a late whistle. Play by play guys were surprised.- The Bassett driving layup that made it 61-57 and they called a foul on Conyers. He was backed away and they brushed jerseys, hardly enough contact for a foul. But because he fell to the ground, the refs bailed him out.- The loose ball foul on Chris McKnight where Van Kempen actually went over McKnight's back and brought him down.- The tangled up call with Cvetinovic and Van Kempen over a rebound, Van Kempen practically was pulling his right arm away.- The blocking foul on Conyers when he stepped out when Cooper was driving, should have been a no call based on the action in the game.I too noticed Ohio getting away with 3 seconds. Especially with Washington in the 2nd half, I know I saw at least 2 with him.All game long Ohio was getting away with those push offs on the dribble or away from the ball. That step back 3 by Bassett when he clearly pushed off on Roberts, can't believe that wasn't called. Cooper's 3 from the corner in the 1st half, pushed off on Steward, another no call. Dambrot kept pointing it out to the officials but was being ignored.Nothing compares to the EMU game. There was constant disruption of the flow of the game by the refs. They were calling touch fouls away from the ball, bump fouls way out front by the time line, moving screens that weren't even screens. The MAC refs need to get a clue. Officiating means keeping the game balanced and fair both ways. If you aren't going to call loose ball fouls all game long, don't start calling it on 1 team at the end and not the other. But that game tonight, Fouls- Akron 23, Ohio 15, FT's- Akron 14, Ohio 25. And Akron was in the bonus not even half way through the 2nd half. Give me a break.+1 and if you look at the stats, although UA took more shots, the amount of baskets made were identical. you look at FT's and OU was 17-25 while UA was 11-14. There's your +6pts right there.

No doubt. Someone needs to put Freeman on his ass on a screen this half. And hopefully Cooper isn't allowed his forearm shiver either.

Humpty came out limping in warmups and even left early to receive treatment. Hopefully he was just sore.

here's hoping.. I took the over at 133.Heading up to the game shortly. Go Zippers!

I've never done it myself, but my guess would be the FRAPS program.nope fraps only works for gaming. I use a program called CamStudio. it's free so it's not very good, but hey, it works.

I just have to say I'm glad David Kool is done after this season.
-
are you the one who runs MRO? If so thanks for responding to my tweets last night. I agree, the fact that McNees wasn't on the Top 10 was weak.
-
Would anyone want the audio of the FSN feed with Reghi and Mix? I've got the clip cut down to about 15 seconds when he hit it.
-
Haha yes thank you, too!no problem, I just wanted to grab it off of ESPN 360 before it disappeared.
-
and me for ripping and upping ;)but I have to say thanks to the guy who runs MRO for responding to my tweets. Is that Ozoner? I know he always advertises for it.
