  1. UA researchers make nanotech breakthrough
  2. Zips assistant Athletic Director was on with Joe Dunn today, and he said that we can expect about six 5th year transfers to come in. Still couldn't say names, but mentioned Pitt and Wisconsin. What wasn't clear is if that was in addition to the Moses McCray, or including him. McCray is the only one that's currently on the roster. If it includes McCray, then we know all the names. If it doesn't, then there's one more transfer out there that we don't know about yet.
  3. It's pretty simple. More fans aren't coming because they don't want to sit in the JAR. Uncomfortable seats all around, you have to go down a flight of stairs to get our single concession stand (baring major games when they open up stuff at the top of the stairwells), the sightlines are bad for everyone in the arena who is not sitting right at mid-court. Marketing is doing everything they can, the team is winning more now than ever. The JAR is what's holding things back. You can't require that fans to show up to sit in a facility that is so bad it is hampering our attendance in order to justify building its replacement.

  5. Zips add a GK as preseason camp approaches.
  6. Triple the win total, against a tougher schedule than last year? Absolutely.

  8. Congratulations, coach! I'm certain you'll be successful.
  9. Concession options are limited when we play at Canal Park, but would improve if it was officially our home field and we could staff it properly. The problem with Firestone Stadium is that's it's basically the Rubber Bowl of baseball. It's old and far from campus.
  10. More like Ohio.com Anyways, I think we'll improve quite a bit over last season, just like we improved quite a bit last year over the previous season. We went from losing big to losing close games, and now we go to winning a few of those close games and closing the gap with the tougher opponents. The problem is that our non-conference schedule is one of the tougher ones in the country and the MAC does us no favors by giving us the top three West teams and avoiding Buffalo in the East. That's no excuse, though, and it provides motivation to recruit players that can match those teams so that when the pendulum swings around (and it always does with the MAC), we'll be the ones on top while the rest are in decline. I think we can win at two or three MAC games. UMass for sure, and one or two from Miami, Can't, or Ohio.
  11. I think we're just waiting for baseball to find a new home. Perhaps with the Aeros under new ownership, we will be able to move the baseball team to Canal Park permanently. If you remember, softball used to play all their games at Firestone Stadium before moving on campus. That opens up the perfect spot for an arena. With the tennis courts moving to Buchtel Field across Exchange, you can rule out that location.
  12. Can't believe you left John Heisman off your list of great coaches. Not to mention Gordon Larson.
  13. Any agent worth his salt is aware of this and watching for it if his client is up for a coaching job in Ohio.
  14. Well, you can cross him off. Says he's not coming here anymore.
  15. http://gozips.com/athletics/emails/tom/2013-14/july_17_2013 Some good information in there. Hopefully the full football roster will be posted on August 2nd. There are a couple of golf outings coming up, and I know some of you enjoy those.
  16. Maybe ISU didn't want to play us. Can't blame them.
  17. Looks like we drew Oregon State in the first round of the tournament.
  18. BW3s would be a better tradition if they would renovate. In all my travels, I've never seen one that looks more like a dive bar.
  19. ABJ article with more details
  20. What I found more intriguing is that the entire Firestone HQ and campus was just bought. A bargain at $5 million.
  21. Should be an automatic win for Akron. They'll only have 65 scholarship players, and will be coming off of a four-year post-season ban, effectively making them an FCS team.
  22. It wouldn't be a bad thing for us to beat them by 30+ in front of what would probably be the entirety of both of our fanbases.
  23. 46 days to go.
