  1. Except eliminating millions of dollars in funding for those other programs.
  2. 20 signs you graduated from UA in 2008, maybe.
  3. If we had to change our nickname for some reason, what would you like it to be? Just a thought experiment.
  4. Some of you are nervous about this game. That's pathetic. Anyway, here is the link to JMU's message board: http://csnbbs.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=685. If you have a login for the MAC boards, it should work there, too. Now down to business. This is a game we match up favorably in. Comparing the 2-deep for our offensive and defensive lines, we have a clear advantage on both sides. The players on our O-line average 40 lbs more than their D-linemen. JMU's offense is mostly on the ground. They have a QB that likes to run. Their passing attack is not much of a threat, which allows Akron to put a spy on the QB to contain him. Their defense is vulnerable to the pass, and I expect that we'll see more deep throws by Pohl in this game. Bowden and the team are taking this game very seriously. They know what is at stake. We are no overlooking JMU like certain teams have overlooked FCS opponents this season. I expect the 2-deep for this game to be quite different than the one we had for UCF, and I also think we'll see less conservative playcalling on offense.
  5. As I understand it, they're doing more than just the lobby. This season, we should be able to turn the lights out for the player intros. We haven't been able to do that in the past because the lights would take about 30 minutes to cycle back on.
  6. Did anybody watch NIU hold off an upset attempt by Iowa this weekend? Did you see the drunk girl that ran onto the field? She blew a .341 when she was arrested. She also tweeted her way through the drunk tank.
  7. Good start to the season with a 2-0 record. Volleyball might be the MAC's most competitive sport, nationally.
  8. How is it that the Browns don't have a kicker on the 53-man roster? How does that happen? Makes giving Phil Dawson the boot look even stupider. This is a level of mismanagement that is ridiculous even for Cleveland.
  9. You must not have watched the team that lost to UCF last year.
  10. How's about this: Most of the MAC sucks. We'll win more than two games.
  11. My postgame thoughts: The team I saw on Thursday would have won three or four games last season.
  12. Good. I don't want people with your attitude anywhere near the football program anyway. Stay the F out. In fact, stay away from our other sports, too.
  13. One good thing is that JMU's offense is based very heavily on the run game. They have a QB that likes to scramble, and a workhorse RB, but their passing game is not that worrisome. I also think our offense will have a field day against their defense.
  14. Twitter for the 1st half, ESPN3 on a computer for the second half.
  15. We weren't running bubble screens out of a Power-I every single down, with 5-8 150lb offensive linemen.
  16. Milwee's play-calling. Bowden handed over the coordinator reigns this year, and Milwee came out as too conservative in his first game.
  17. I don't expect the 2-deep to remain the same at a lot of the positions for next Saturday's game.
  18. First game sloppiness. Need... really, really need to clean everything up.
  19. Michigan, NIU, Ohio, Can't State, and Toledo all have pre-season votes. UCF didn't get a single vote in any poll.
  20. Sloppy tackling because we've been practicing avoiding big penalties all pre-season?
  21. There is a smack talk forum for just such an occasion.
  22. Did you tweet him back with that scheduling tidbit? Interested to hear what he has to say. According to the MAC board, the MAC is in the middle of renegotiating with ESPN. Supposedly it will be a major increase in payout and the number of games televised. Still a pittance compared to the top conferences, but it's rumored to be the best or second-best deal out of the second tier of the MAC, C-USA, Sun Belt, MWC, and AAC. Have to wait and see, though. Expect an announcement soon.
  23. A simple ticket exchange and upgrade program would work. Just have to make ticket holders aware of it. If a ticket holder is not able to show for a game, they could re-sell it through the athletics department. The seller could get a small credit that can get cashed in at the team shop or used to buy more tickets. But this only solves the problem with actual people that hold season tickets. For corporate ticketholders that hand out tickets to people who never show up, another solution is needed. If a ticket is not redeemed by the 8th-minute media timeout (8 minutes remaining in the first half), then fans can purchase a cheap upgrade to their seats at half time, and watch the second half in a nice chair close to the court instead of from the bleachers or behind a railing/walkway.
  24. We're platooning at every position.
