  1. Which is fine, if you're on or near the leading edge of the curve. If you're on the trailing edge, after 90% of the country has already done it, then you look stale at the exact same time that they're moving on to the next new thing that makes them look innovative until it gets copied by everyone else. The alternative it to get a simple and distinctive look, and stick to it. Any change in design from year to year would be minor. You create an identity this way.
  2. Maybe you'll understand that yardage means little and less if you ever grow out of having the attitude of a perpetual loser. As for points, they scored 17 of 21 more than we had them in the 4th quarter. For three quarters we played even with an SEC team on the road. Why can't you get it through your head that that's something to be celebrated for a team as far down in the dumps as Akron?
  3. More likely just a new design that's supposed to reduce concussions.
  4. I'm thinking new helmet AND pads.
  5. Yardage means nothing, only points. I look forward to a future where where we win games and fans still crap on the team because they were outgained or didn't have as many sacks or something else equally stupid.
  6. The logo is visually distinct from anything they've done in recent memory, but gives off a classic/retro feel. I like it.
  7. The game was tied at 23 at halftime. The score was 23-30 at the end of the 3rd quarter. One touchdown away with one quarter to go, on the road in an SEC stadium. We ran out of gas, but we were in as good a position as any Zip fan could possibly hope for, for three quarters. Look at where we have been the past four years, and compare that to where we were for the majority of that game. That's why people are happy with that game.
  8. After JMU, the Zips are @Michigan, vs. Louisiana, @BGSU, vs. Ohio, and @NIU. That's part of what makes this game Saturday so important. If any players are looking ahead to Michigan instead of focusing on JMU, they need to be kicked off the team.
  9. That right there is it. We came so close, but never got it done. We had the game against Miami stolen from us. Just bad luck against FIU, and we ran out of gas at Can't State and Tennessee.

  11. First of all, yes. They would kick us out. Haven't you felt the vibe that they don't want us in their conference anyway? As for the Horizon League, Butler left for the new Big East. The rest of the conference isn't that great.
  12. Kincade one of the most underrated QB recruits in the country.
  13. You know how I know you have no clue whatsoever how the Sagarin rating system works? Get back to me when the teams are well connected and the ratings aren't relying on last season's rating to make it look like every team isn't rated a 1 or 0 because only a single game has been played for each team.
  14. Pretty sure it was arrogance on the part of the coaching staff.
  15. Steve Wozniak to give a free lecture at UA.
  16. SI takes a look at what goes on in the coaching class.
  17. UA hiring specialists with dumb job title to help at-risk students graduate.
  18. The payday games are only part of the equation. That's about $1 million a year. Dropping football down means having to leave the MAC, which means losing TV and Bowl revenue which is currently about $1 million for the athletic department and under the new playoff structure between $2 and $3 million. It also means losing a good number of basketball games we currently put on TV.
  19. That's too bad. But I don't think it's on TB so much as the football SID. If they don't ask for one, there's nothing to post. Or if TB refused to give one out, just say that the chart won't be public. It's lazy to post the old one.
  20. We've gone to an 18 game conference schedule. 1/8 @ Ball State 1/12 @ Ohio 1/15 vs. Miami 1/18 vs. Toledo 1/22 @ Eastern Michigan 1/25 @ Central Michigan 1/29 vs. Ball State 2/1 @ Can't State 2/5 vs. Eastern Michigan 2/9 @ Bowling Green 2/12 @ Western Michigan 2/15 vs. Northern Illinois 2/19 @ Buffalo 2/22 vs. Ohio 2/26 @ Miami 3/1 vs. Bowling Green 3/4 vs. Buffalo 3/8 vs. Can't State
  21. Think we'll get an updated depth chart posted tomorrow?
  22. Maybe if he ever tried to run between the tackles, people wouldn't think that. Running East-West constantly, but not having the speed to turn the corner before the defense catches up to you won't win you many fans.
  23. Those are the first two changes I would make, if I were coach. It's obvious that we needed to open things up on offense, and that Bickley and MTB are more than ready to contribute. I wonder if we'll see things switched up at the RB position, too. Also, did he say anything about the defense? We've got some serious problems at LB and Safety, but I think a depthchart shake-up would solve things to a degree.
  24. It would be interesting if they just eliminated kicker and punter. That's two more spots you could use to bolster talent at other positions. Even if they do sign a kicker, they won't have the luxury of relying on a FG from anywhere inside the 45 yard line in the most insane weather Lake Erie can throw at you. No matter who they sign, they won't be as good as Phil Dawson was in poor weather. What a dumb, dumb move to let him go.
  25. Nothing about the Zip Strip, or how the campus had roads running through it, or playing pick-up hoops in Memorial Hall? All these things you would remember if you graduated way back in the distant year of in 2007.
