  1. I like how they didn't bother to mention that he eliminated both baseball and men's soccer while at Towson. That's unforgivable.
  2. Nice to see it made official.
  3. http://csnbbs.com/showthread.php?tid=633048 You need to sign in to read this, but if you've ever been to the MAC boards that shouldn't be a problem. It's kind of fun to watch fans of another basketball team compare themselves to Akron and then wonder what they need to do to get to our level of success.
  4. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology Even though we're a 14 seed here, I'm OK with that, given the location and opponent.

  6. I misread it as Brimfield. If you've ever been to Brimfield, you would know why I immediately thought of it as the place where you would find a $447 bong.
  7. Tressel was brought in to counter the anti-athletics, anti-progress contingent within the university's administration that wants to see us turn back the clock to the 1970s. That's a battle that's tougher than any football game he's coached.
  8. Of course it happened in Portage County. Anyway, it's a good thing we have a JUCO Cornerback coming in.
  9. http://www.scarberrymedia.com/2013/05/17/j...ron-basketball/ Make it happen, kid.
  10. Life after "Show Cause"
  11. Good find. I knew he was at the spring game.
  12. I hope a lot of Zips fans show up for this series. The team has improved under coach Rembielak, although they still have a long way to go.
  13. Didn't know they did these for baseball. Admittedly, golf is not really something I enjoy, so I tend to overlook these events. However, I know that there are quite a few people who frequent ZN.O who do like Zips golf outings, so I thought I would re-post this from the press release today. Zips baseball will be hosting its annual golf outing this summer on Monday, July 22 at Medina Country Club. If you're interested in participating in the outing, please contact Alexa Doutt by phone at 330-972-2695 or email at asd9@uakron.edu.

  15. Colorado's plight seems eerily similar to Akron's, only offset by a year.
  16. ESPN Insider article posted this morning. I can't read it, but I don't think expect that it contains any earth-shattering information.
  17. Steiner released by the Raiders.
  18. Just because he'll get a fair shot doesn't mean he's in any way good enough to win the starting spot. Granted, he's almost certainly better than our current back-ups, but i don't see him being able to take the starting spot from Kyle Pohl, and i don't see it as being all that close of a competition.
  19. If he was leaving because of playing time issues, Hirschman might regret transferring out now.
  20. They're better in basketball, but that doesn't drive TV contracts. That group is worse than the MAC. Three FCS call-ups, nobody any potential of becoming a BCS-buster candidate. It's the MAC, but with more FCS teams and less top-25 teams. How is that better?
  21. This group of schools will have a TV contract worth more than $1 million per school per year. Keep in mind that the MAC's current contract is worth 1/10th of that: Alabama-Birmingham, Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Old Dominion, Rice, Southern Miss, Texas-El Paso, Texas-San Antonio, and Western Kentucky. If the MAC can't negotiate something better than what that jumble of cast-offs and wannabes receives, after coming off of a BCS appearance and having four different teams in the top-25 during the season (Ohio, Toledo, Can't, NIU), the entire MAC front office should be replaced.

  23. While we're at it, maybe we can add another transfer QB who knows the offensive system very well.
  24. This can only be good news.
