  1. I was surprised to see us with double what Miami got and four times Ohio U.
  2. A survey was recently sent out to every university and college in America, asking for the amount of donations they received in for 2011. For Ohio: Ohio State University-Main Campus $255,698,008 University of Cincinnati-Main Campus 109,758,582 Case Western Reserve University 85,029,205 University of Akron-Main Campus 56,718,402 Can't State University Can't Campus 35,810,843 Miami University-Oxford 28,057,910 Kenyon College 25,839,037 Oberlin College $23,045,207 Xavier University 20,933,904 University of Dayton 15,968,932 Wright State University-Main Campus 15,454,458 University of Toledo 15,257,231 Denison University 14,905,970 Ohio University-Main Campus 14,403,918 University of Mount Union 14,349,790 The College of Wooster 14,229,398 Ohio Wesleyan University 11,845,602 Cleveland State University 10,293,644 Marietta College 9,804,559 John Carroll University 6,931,486 Baldwin-Wallace College 6,766,176 Hiram College 6,424,222 Wittenberg University 5,510,754 Franciscan University of Steubenville 5,486,996 Ohio Northern University 5,162,850 Capital University 4,271,251 Walsh University 3,548,632 Heidelberg University 3,523,654 The University of Findlay 3,521,880 Muskingum University 3,128,056 College of Mount St. Joseph 2,875,100 Otterbein University 2,856,289 Defiance College 2,842,672 Ursuline College 2,669,680 Ohio Dominican University 1,883,004 Clark State Community College 1,792,515 Wilmington College 1,708,196 Tiffin University 1,675,175 Shawnee State University 1,243,977 Central Ohio Technical College 1,213,272 Sinclair Community College 1,131,569 Zane State College 861,533 Bowling Green State University - Did not respond For the MAC: University of Akron-Main Campus 56,718,402 *Temple University 44,247,84 Can't State University Can't Campus 35,810,843 University at Buffalo 32,726,76 *University of Massachusetts Amherst 31,724,397 Miami University-Oxford 28,057,910 Ball State University 19,008,408 *Missouri State University 16,712,048 University of Toledo 15,257,231 Ohio University-Main Campus 14,403,91 Western Michigan University 13,681,659 Central Michigan University 12,699,474 *Florida Atlantic University 7,830,044 Eastern Michigan University 4,981,23 *Hartwick College 4,421,106 Northern Illinois University - Did not respond Bowling Green State University - Did not respond *Chicago State University - Did not respond *University of Evansville - Did not respond *Southern Illinois University - Did not respond * = Associate member
  3. WR Trei Thomas, Roosevelt HS, Ken+, OH
  4. Tennis beat Louisville and Cincinnati this weekend to stay undefeated. They're putting together a pretty good start to the season.
  5. We'll be better than a 15 seed if we win the MAC tournament, unless we lose every game from now until then. Right now we're looking at a 14 seed, and a 13 is possible if we win out.
  6. Akron and Buffalo also happen to be the last two teams in the MAC to move up from a lower division. If we were in D-I for 50+ years, we probably would have picked up a tourney win at some point. Not saying we shouldn't have one by now, just pointing out that the other MAC schools have had more opportunities and also picked up some of those wins during a very different era.
  7. ECU Chancellor mentions that the Alliance is looking at MAC schools in the eastern time zone (that means not NIU).
  8. Remember that Titanium Bridge project? When is that supposed to happen?
  9. OMG. Look at who ORU's most common ref is.
  10. Hello!
  11. Nice article with some insight for people not familiar with the Bowdens.
  12. I would love to see one for Can't. Or Marshall. Marshall fans are always fun to make fun of.
  13. I think our deal with STO helps tremendously.
  14. Akron-Canton makes up 1/3rd of the Cleveland media market. Are 1/3rd of the media stories about the Akron-Canton area?
  15. You won't find anything negative about Akron in the Cleveland media (besides Pluto's passive-aggressive crap, but that started at the ABJ) because to say something negative about us is to aknowledge our existence. Wadszip is absolutely correct about Clevelanders believing that Akron is just a far-off suburb, somewhere around the size of Berea or Mentor. It's why they get confused when they hear about Akron being seperate from them in some way. To them it's no different than Westlake acting like they don't need Cleveland to survive. In their minds, Canton is a bigger entity because it's farther out of the perceived grasp of Cleveland.
  16. It's a happy coincidence. I don't think we really appreciate all the good things that the Stile field house has brought to UA. It was the gift that sparked everything.
  17. QB Tra'Von Chapman, Roosevelt HS, Ken+ OH TE Christian DiLaurio, Green HS, Uniontown OH
  18. It's opening day. I don't expect a miracle, but a .500 season (both in and out of the MAC) is a good goal to set in coach Rembielak's first season.
  19. Don't look now, but here come the Zips.
  20. Pretty sure we have more than one available scholarship. Coach Bowden seems to be using the recruiting tactic known as "blueshirting". I like it. It's almost like the polar opposite of oversigning.
  21. The reaction on the MAC board is mixed, at best. Still, there are rumblings out there beyond fan message boards. It's something to keep an eye on. If we do join, I would hope that Akron, along with ECU and a few other schools, lead the charge for an split that creates a true eastern conference.
  22. Forge and E. Market is still "downtown". It's just completely underdeveloped in that area. The area bordered by Market, Forge, Goodkirk, Perkins, and Union is just an enormous grass field twice the size of our football stadium. You could put an arena there and a major parking lot, and still leave enough spaces for businesses to develop along Market that would compliment an arena, like restaurants.
  23. http://hsconnect.com/page/content.detail/i...n.html?nav=5016 This story is a great read for Zips fans and should get you excited. I wonder if we'll see some of the current QBs on the roster change positions by the time the season starts.
  24. Elton weighs in, says Akron has the best chance for an at-large out of the local teams.
  25. WR Tyler Boyd, Clairton HS, Clairton PA WR Zach Challingsworth, South Fayette Twp HS, McDonald PA
