  1. There are two reasons why I'm not worried. The first is that nobody's done any drills yet. The coaches haven't even seen any of them throw a ball. On-field skills will separate the QBs from each other, not leadership skills which we know they lack. The second reason I'm not worried is that the freshmen haven't even arrived in yet. Coach Bowden's QB recruits are not on campus and I've had the feeling for a while that one of them will be able to step up.
  2. The closest player we have to a "go to scorer" is Blake Justice.
  3. The home opener is at 3:00 PM this Friday at Canal Park against Ball State.
  4. The city website comes through! Map of downtown Map of University Park Neighborhood index For whatever reason, the grassy area north of Market is considered to be a part of Middlebury.
  5. We need to define "downtown". Does it end at the railroad tracks? Is City Hospital considered to be in downtown? Is Canal Place downtown? Somebody show me a map.
  6. The bleacher seats behind the one or both goals could easily be designated as reserved seating. The grass would be the only GA seating left. They probably want to do it as an excuse to keep the Rowdies from setting up camp under the scoreboard next to families with little kids. I think it's a mistake to do it this year. We are coming off a disappointing season compared to the previous two. Unless coach Porter goes out and wins an Olympic gold medal, the excitement for Zips soccer will be down a little bit. I hope I'm wrong and we could really use the money that would be generated by selling out the reserved seats again, but I don't feel like the timing is right.
  7. Almost.
  8. With any amount of good conference leadership, UMass would be playing basketball in the MAC in the next few years.
  9. Ohio brings back everyone. They bring back their strengths, but also their weaknesses. Akron, meanwhile, will improve and change. We will add new talents and skills from our incoming players that we lacked this year, while OU only gains experience for a team with lots of experience already.
  10. Your knowledge is incomplete.
  11. Four MAC teams in the CIT? That's ridiculous. So is a MAC West team getting into the post-season. Even more so is that six MAC teams are playing buut the MAC coach of the year is sitting at home.
  12. OU mugs players and sometimes they get called for it and sometimes they get away with it. The averages are just that: averages. In the championship, if OU was called for fouls the way Akron was called for fouls, most of their team would have been fouled out with five minutes to go.
  13. Temple had the right idea; get out of the MAC at all costs as soon as possible. The Big East isn't an option, but the Alliance is. We can't stay here. The MAC will never be able to raise their profile or get any better than they currently are.
  14. You just gave away that you didn't actually watch the game. OU should have had twice the fouls called on them. They hacked away on every Zips possession and got away with it. They flopped to create bogus fouls on Zips players. OU was dirtier than the Cuyahoga river and the refs let them get away with it. An even number of fouls shouldn't happen when one side is clearly fouling more than the other.
  15. We'll be an 8 seed on the road. Book it.
  16. The season is over. It ended on a technicality. There is nothing left.
  17. I agree, both with you and with the overall sentiments here.
  18. I saw this on ESPN and like the idea of removing "name" biases from schools. Here are 12 "bubble" schools: TEAM RPI SOS OOC R/N 50 100 A 17 60 38 9-7 3-2 9-4 B 45 8 52 7-7 1-10 5-12 C 49 87 111 7-5 0-5 5-7 D 21 5 26 5-9 3-5 8-9 E 33 2 11 5-8 5-6 9-10 F 67 251 231 14-6 1-2 4-3 G 50 19 91 4-9 3-9 4-10 H 47 104 63 12-5 3-6 5-6 I 44 29 58 5-10 1-9 6-9 J 54 51 57 6-8 2-6 6-10 K 55 22 17 7-5 1-8 5-9 L 75 40 169 3-10 4-7 7-9 And here is Akron's resume: Z 62 98 40 8-8 0-3 3-9 We're just a notch below where the bubble teams sit. Strength of Schedule is perfectly fine, but we didn't do a good enough job of beating the top teams we played. Losing close games like CSU, VCU, and ORU really hurt us.
  19. I'll miss watching old Charlie and his press conferences.
  20. Good article in the Canton Rep.
  21. You can't win in the MAC without a great QB.
  22. BG loses at home to CMU. Wow. Miami falls at Toledo. NIU knocks off EMU and their "coach of the year" in Ypsilanti. WMU holds on against Ball State at home.
  23. I'm pretty sure we have offered the entire 2013 class at MLK high school in Lithonia, GA.
