  1. BS call on Zeke.
  2. Get Nitro out of there.
  3. Chauncey back in.
  4. We need OU and Buffalo to lose tonight.
  5. Even if Nitro is open, you don't pass to him there.
  6. We're letting WMU play their style and we're not dictating the game.
  7. MAC tennis coaches pick Akron to win conference regular season and tournament titles
  8. On RPIForecast.com's Akron page, you can click the big words "With Conference Tourneys" to get altered RPI projections that include the conference tournament scenarios. If we win out through the MAC tournament, they project our RPI to be 13.9, and if we win every game but lose in the MAC tournament, they project our RPI to be 18.6 We NEED to win out in the regular season to have a chance, but with those kind of numbers we are absolutely in at-large bid territory. Beating ORU, OU, and Can't all on the road would boost our current RPI by 30 spots. It's very difficult, but not impossible.
  9. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/s...ething-to-prove Bowden comes in at #11
  10. WMU is still a dirty team. Their game plan is to agitate their opponent into retaliating and thus being called for a foul.
  11. Looks like Memphis is next to the Big East. C-USA has another opening, but are they really an attractive destination any more? Without Houston, SMU, UCF, and now Memphis, are C-USA even worth moving to? Without the money those schools bring in, there isn't enough of a financial boost to make it more attractive than the MAC, and the "name" value of the remaining schools isn't that great.
  12. I'm almost certain that you can.
  13. Tennis improves to 5-0 with wins over IUPUI, Wright State, and West Virginia.
  14. Not even that. It's just a matter of having one combined student section instead of splitting them into opposite sides and scattering the rest in GA seating.
  15. I believe Dillon was mentioned indirectly during the recruiting press conference and the coach videos on youtube. They said something about having 22 recruits but one wasn't locked in yet and would have to wait a few days to finalize things.
  16. 6'3" 225lb LB Dillon Kern of Moeller High School in Cincinnati, OH has committed to the Zips! Rivals Profile ScoutingOhio profile
  17. Late commit: LB Dillon Kern verbals to Akron
  18. Akron is not a little village or Cleveland suburb and UA is not a small liberal arts college. There's more than enough room for the both of them. They could both do their jobs all year and not once run into each other on campus. It's time to think big. Mindsets need to be changed to reflect the actual size and reach of UA and the city of Akron.
  19. This is part of an all-out push by president Proenza to not be left behind when the power schools split away from the NCAA. He understands what athletics can do for a school's academic reputation. Like it or not, unless you're in the Ivy League, you need high-profile athletics to keep yourself relevant in the minds of prospective students and local benefactors. Also, if you have reservations about Tressel, just remember that he is a smart man. He knows that everyone, from the NCAA to the local and national media, will be watching him like a hawk. He took the job to rebuild his reputation and image. He won't do anything to jeopardize his chances at being hired as a head coach somewhere in the next few years. Every BCS school with a head coach opening will be calling him next season.
  20. Sounds like a handshake deal. Not really official. Tressel has his work cut out for him. One of the implied parts of his job is to create a student culture similar to what they have at Big Ten schools. It's hard to change a culture.
  21. This move was aimed directly at combating two things: negative local perceptions and at state politicians who only have eyes for Columbus. You need something to catch their attention if you want to bring this university to its full potential and you can certainly bet this turned a lot of heads our way that are normally content to ignore us. The national attention is nice, but it's not why we brought in JT. That's what coach Bowden is for. I see the pieces of the plan falling into place to create something truly extraordinary.
  22. We played Hiram, which doesn't count in the RPI calculations in any whatsoever. So the RPI sites only list the games that they can use for their calculations.
