It went to an easily-dissected zone.
-
It had a really low angle of trajectory.

We played a zone D the entire game. Not once did I see man-to-man coverage. So of course the GW coaches figured out that all you have to do is put a player at the seam and throw to him and it's an instant first down. They figured it out in the first quarter and we did nothing to adjust. It's why every one of their completions was to a wide-open receiver.

We have a 3rd kicker on the roster: TJ Marchese. How many losses can be laid directly at Igor's feet? Cincinnati, Buffalo, Gardner-Webb are the three that stand out to me the most, but many more are out there.

3000 would be optimistic for attendance today. I've never seen the tailgate lots so empty in such great weather.

We're apparently the "Wisconsin of the MAC".

Nova is the reigning FCS champion. They're consistently in the top 5. They need a stadium, but they have the option to play at Franklin Field (seats 60,000) until they can put up their own stadium. Also, they are already a member of the Big East in all other sports. The Big East has to give them the option to move up before looking outside the conference. Just like what happened with UConn (they didn't deserve to move up as a mediocre football program; Nova is light-years ahead of where UConn was) You make it sound like they aren't affiliated with the Big East at all.
-
Temple becomes completely irrelevant if Nova moves up. The MAC loses the main benefit to keeping them around in having an exclusive Philly market. It also strengthens the Big east, making it less likely to split in the future while insulating them against a conference re-alignment poaching some teams. Nova would want to do it so that in the event of a split they will be able to keep their basketball with the FBS portion of the Big East and not get stuck with the non--football schools in a smaller version of the A-10.

Prove it. Look at Memorial. It's going down way faster than Carrol Hall did. There are no structural elements in the interior of the building, no support columns, no interior walls, it's just a hollow box. You take off the roof, knock over the walls, and haul the debris away.
-
Maybe a former player for the Director of Basketball Operations position. I would love to see Cedrick Middleton come back if playing in Europe doesn't work out for him.
-
Half the building is gone, leveled into a tangled heap of scrap metal and bricks. It's pretty easy to tear down a building that is essentially hollow like an arena.

I'm going to guess Dan Peters.

GW fan looking for dining advice in Akron. I don't have an account on AGS, but maybe someone here does.

yup. I got there right around when he left. Everyone was going nuts. I couldnt have cared less. Facebook about blew up from everyone freaking out too. Yeah. A lot of those people were trashing him just weeks ago, too, but now they were falling over themselves to get a picture. What should have made a bigger splash among the hardcore Zips faithful was the fact that Romeo Travis was with him, and also practiced with the bball team. Maybe he was there to watch the demolition of Memorial Hall, which started today about the same time they showed up.

Defense scores 3 safeties? Couldn't be 2 made FG's. Are you thinking TD and missed XP? Akron scores a TD. GW scores a safety. GW gets a turnover during Akron's 2-point conversion attempt and runs it back for 1 point.

Clear your cache.

Akron 6, GW 3.

LeBron was wandering around campus today. I saw him in the Student Union during lunch, and later practicing with the basketball team in the JAR.

The big question is: Where is this scholarship coming from?
-
Nationalchamps.net showing a home-and-home with Central Florida? FIU and now possibly UCF. Is Ianello targeting the state of Florida for recruiting? Edit: Orlando Sentinel confirms it.
-
No mulligans. Every single person in the stadium not on the Zips coaching staff knew that was a stupid decision. Who thought it was smart to hire someone who has never called plays before?

I've seen too many of Igor's low-liner kicks to ever feel good about kicking in that situation. 4th-and-2, on the opponent's 23...you go for it every time. At least until we recruit a real kicker. If Igor continues to kick, that exact play will happen again in 2010. As soon as he sent special teams out on that play I turned to my roomate, who I dragged to his first Akron game in two years, and said "This isn't going to end well." Syracuse board: "Akron's coach is my new hero"

I think joining the Big Ten would be ideal. Akron joining them could transform them into an ACC-level league and get some competition going at the top levels of the sport. And Indiana and OSU make better rivals than any ACC school. We could even bring NIU and Buffalo with us. The Big Ten only has 7 soccer teams, just like the MAC, and so could stand to add a few more teams. Joining the ACC would be bad for college soccer, making the sport even less competitive than it is already.

They can laugh all they want. Anything less than $18 is selling at a loss, and won't be made up through concessions or merchandise. They're killing themselves financially (even more than usual) in an attempt to keep within the NCAA attendance rules. huh? By your logic, selling at $54 will be 3x less of a loss! It really doesn't make sense if demand isn't there to sell at $54, and the same is true for $18. Example of reducing price to make more money below. It's called optimizing volume versus price. 4000 tickets at $18 yields $72,000 6500 tickets at $12 yields $78,000 By lowering prices significantly, you drew more fans and offset price with volume. Not only could you make more money, but you create a real event experience which increases future demand. You assume a demand for tickets. What if there are no more people who wanted to go to the game Saturday than those who showed up? Exactly. No more fans would have shown up even if we lowered the price to $5 a ticket. And Can't's pricing structure simply lowers the value of their product. If people pay $5 to see them, they see that it's worth less than a high school game, and so must not be as important as one or as exciting, or worth the trip. I fully disagree...I know six people personally who planned to attend then changed their mind when they saw the price...SIX! If I know that many alone, imagine how many total. Then they really did not want to go and were looking for an excuse for not going. Akron can't build its future on this fan. Yes. If $20/person is too much to see a local team and a BCS team play in the nicest stadium in the state, they didn't really want to be there. I bet they would gladly pay per person at OSU what it would cost the entire group at Akron to watch a game.
