Those had better be some damned good seats. This game will be a blowout on the order of the old Lee Owens vs. Crap State University days.
-
Half the team was injured this spring. I would love to know about any of them recovering.

Because you can't just count the seats when the SRO is actually preferred by the more crazy students. They're willingly not sitting in a seat but they're certainly contributing to attendance. -
That's about what I was expecting it would be. Thanks!

Thanks for the input, PSU1. I was going to post on the CBSSports site -- somebody probably knows the exact number . . . .That sounds low to me. I realize that each contract situation is different, but I think we got $650,000 from Wisconsin last year.I was thinking the same thing. Wisconsin was $650k for a contract that was made quite a few years in advance. This game is a last-minute addition to the schedule, so I imagine the going rate should be a bit higher.

http://www.ohio.com/news/50730452.htmlBrubakers pub is moving in underneath the 22 E Exchange appartment.

It's been that way for at least a month now. They really need to get on the ball here.

The REC Center parking lot won't be replaced. It's far too profitable as a premium parking lot for both the JAR and the Info. The Kaiser building location is being renovated, and while I think UA owns a good chink of that block already as a parking lot, I don't think they'll be able to take over the whole block or the Mayflower.Central Hower isn't being handed over to UA any time soon. It's still being used as a spare high school for the forseeable future. The only feasible place for an arena south of Exchange is on the old softball field. While this would place it near the rest of the athletic facilities, I would prefer the neighborhood to go through a major renovation so no to scare away the fans.Memorial Hall is being torn down and replaced with a new college of Education building. It will fit into the Landscape for Learning stuff going on in that area.East of campus is one of two areas: on top of the planned Greek Village and Skyway, or across Route 8. The other side of Route 8 feels off-campus even more than downtown does. The Downtown economic area is bigger than what people think. There's the large wasted grass area between Market and Perkins that is still considered downtown, and it might work as an arena site, but only if the campus expands north a bit more first. There is the square of grass on he corner of Buchtel and Spicer is possibly enough room to build an arena, but only if it is a pure arena without offices and classrooms taking up precious space.

Like most answers...$money$The last Marshall AD made less than half of what Mack made here.
-
http://www.ohio.com/sports/50698562.htmlI think it's cool that they appointed a student-athlete to the search committee.I hope they get moving soon. We're competing against Marshall for the top AD looking for a job this year. There's no reason I can think of why a potential AD would choose them over us, but that doesn't mean that UA can sit around and wait for somebody to come to them. I would hope we have this thing resolved fairly quickly. This is the most important athletic season in UA history between the football stadium, soccer going on a national title hunt, men's basketball expected to win the MAC and more, and all sorts of increased expectations across the board. It would be a travesty if there were no fans there to see it all happen.

It can expand to 44k quickly if needed. I don't think it will be needed unless we have a good stretch of 9+ win seasons, though.Or maybe they know that the Big East wants us but we'll have to expand first. Can somebody with wiki-editing skills fix the article to reflect what we know for sure? -
Yep. The Nemers will be moving in right behind the plasma center on Brown.I still think that putting it where the administration building, polymer training center, and Roadway building are located is the best idea.
-
I see rows of columns around the north end of the stadium. Perhaps a wrought-iron fence is going up?
-
i think they should tear down the old softball field and let us tailgate on the grass over thereI heard that may end up being the premium tailgate lot.I still hold out hope that there is a big event area in the Coleman Commons with all the tents and inflatables and stuff. The university would be stupid not to do that.
-
I think we should wait to see how much we pay the AD after we figure out who he's going to be. I hope there's some news about the search effort soon.
-
Thanks. I figured that something like that needed to be done to avoid confusion for the first game. We need to remember that we're not the only fans that will use the stadium, either. There will be visiting fans from other teams, as well as high school games and the like. Now if anybody asks, we have something to point them too. I just hope that the university or the Beacon does something similar, and soon.

I'll go through the parking lots one-by-one. Here are my notes;Lot 1: Prepay parking. Parking deck on Spicer Street by the chapel. Most of you know this as the parking deck used for events at the JAR. Access to the large grassy area on corner of Buchtel and Spicer.Lot 2: Priority parking. The parking lot right outside the JAR. A nice spot if you can get it, with a small grass area seperating it and the JAR. Access to the large grassy area on corner of Buchtel and Spicer.Lot 3: GA parking. Alumni center parking. Only 8 spots here.Lot 4: Prioroty parking. Small gravel lot located between Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and Delta Gamma sorority east of the JAR. If you're a priority parking pass holder and like partying with people half your age, this lot is for you. Access to the large grassy area on corner of Buchtel and Spicer.Lot 7: Priority parking. Small gravel lot on corner of Goodkirk and Orchard. Full of holes and trash. You'll need a jeep to get around this one.Lot 8: Priority parking behind Ocasek natatorium. No green space for tailgating here.Lot 9: Prioroty parking. This lot is temporary, soon to be replaced by dorms on Exchange. The best lot if you value a short walk, located right behind the scoreboard.Lot 10: Priority parking behind the fieldhouse. This is the closest lot to the stadium, located on Spicer.Lot 12: GA parking. On corner of Union and Forge. It's a pretty big lot, but it's shared with the Greek Orthodox church. I don't know how kindly they would take to tailgating on the pavement there. Maybe they'll be cool and have a church tailgate party or something.Lot 13: Priority parking. Gravel lot between the JAR and Spicer. Located next to Phi Delta Theta university. Access to the large grassy area on corner of Buchtel and Spicer.Lot 14: GA parking. Paved drive but gravel parking. Located on Buchtel across the street from Olin. This is the closest GA parking spot north of the stadium. No room to tailgate in the actual lot, but there is a large grass area across the street next to Olin.Lot 15: Priority parking. This is the Olin parking lot. Lots of grass to the South and the Northwest. The best priority lot if you're looking to tailgate, period.Lot 18: Student Union parking. Not for gameday parking. Meters only.Lot 19: GA parking. Small paved lot across the street from the Martin University Center. No room for tailgating.Lot 20: GA parking. Very large paved lot on College Street across from the old administration building. Shared with First United Methodist Church. Tailgating on the pavement is a possibility if not too many cars are there.Lot 21: GA parking. Parking for the old Roadway building. There are like 5 spots here, and no room for anything.Lot 22: GA parking. This is the north quad parking lot, behind the Honors dorm. There's some good tailgating spots, but you won't find a place to park your car because of students.Lot 25: GA parking. This is the visitors parking deck underneath Rob's café. No tailgating, and i don't know if you'll be charged to park there.Lot 26: GA parking. North Campus parking deck on Buchtel next to Simmons Hall. Easy access to the North Quad via a skywalk, but that's about it.Lot 27: Residential Parking. This is a gravel lot across from EJ Thomas. You're not parking here without getting a ticket.Lot 28: GA parking. EJ Thomas parking deck. This thing is a maze if you don't park there regularly. There is a nice, fairly large strip of grass between the deck and the railroad tracks, but it's tough to get to if you don't like jumping or climbing concrete walls.Lot 29: GA parking. This lot is paved, and located behind the Polymer Engineering Building in the middle of the groundskeeping area. You probably wouldn't want to tailgate here even if you managed to figure out how to get there.Lot 30: GA parking. New lot located on Market Street where Mr. Hero used to be. Right now it's a dirt hole, so I don't know if it will be ready in time. If it is, you could tailgate here, but it's really far away from the stadium.Lot 32: GA parking. Gravel lot on Fir Hill between Market and Forge. That's about it. You might be able to tailgate here.Lot 34: GA parking. Gravel lot located east of engineering complex. This lot is a good tailgating lot, if you get there early enough to grab a spot.Lot 35: GA parking. Paved lot on Union near lot 32. If there aren't too many cars, tailgating could be possible.Lot 37: GA parking. This is the Schrank parking deck. Nice and close to the stadium, but you can't tailgate.Lot 38: GA parking. Parking lot outside Schrank across the street from McDonalds. This one will fill up the quickest, given it's proximity to the stadium and easy access to Exchange. it may or may not be assimilated into the new parking deck eventually.Lot 39: GA parking. This is the Exchange parking deck. No tailgating areas around it.Lot 41: GA parking. This is the new parking deck on Exchange. Still under construction.Lot 42: GA parking. Located on Wheeler street by Wolf Ledges. This lot is behind Folk Hall, if you're coming from Exchange. Quiet and out of the way if you can commandeer for yourself and a group of friends for a small tailgate.Lot 43: GA parking. Parking lot on wolf ledges by the Turbine building (with the stealth fighter on the side) and by the tracks. No real grass to speak of unless you like tailgating on a 45-degree incline.Lot 44: Residential parking for the townhouses and Grant residence hall.Lot 45: GA parking. Located on Lincoln street across from the Wonder Bread factory. Paved, but not very good for tailgating. I don't even know if you can access it due to construction.Lot 46: Residential parking for Galucci and Exchange dorms.Lot 47: GA parking. This is the Folk Hall parking lot. Fairly large, and you might be able to hold a decent tailgate around the back of the building.Lot 49: GA parking. This is the Polsky parking deck. No tailgating here. Located downtown if you plan on hitting the OBC or Barley House.Lot 50: Non-gameday parking for the Fir Hill Plaza building.Lot 52: Non-gameday parking for the Martin University Center.Lot 54: Handicapped parking. Located between the Chapel and Route 8.Lot 56: GA parking. Very small parking area at entrance to the Buckingham Building across Wolf Ledges from the law building.Lot 57: Non-gameday parking meters outside the JAR.Lot 59: Residential parking for Garson Hall.Lot 60: GA parking. Small parking lot for the Polymer Training Center on Mill and College streets.Lot 61: GA parking. Tiny paved lot by the CBA.Lot 62: GA parking. Gravel lot on Broadway opposite Polsky deck. Somehow I doubt that Old Stone School would allow you to tailgate on their lawn.Lot 66: GA parking. Located on corner of High and Buchtel downtown. Closest spot to the bars, but no tailgating here.Lot 70: GA parking. Quaker Square parking lot on both sides of Mill Street bridge. Very large, probably little amount of cars, seems possible for tailgating to be held on the pavement.Lot 71: GA parking. This is the parking lot for the administrative building. So, here are the parking lots where I think tailgating is possible: lots 14 (across the street by Olin), 12 (if the church lets us use it), 20, 30 (if it gets completed), 32, 34, 35, 42, 47, and 70. There's also the grass square on the corner of Spicer and Buchtel if you're willing to carry your stuff there and back. Please go around and find your own prefered spots, though. These are just my opinions.

We should play North Carolina at the Info, because we have a mall named Chapel Hill.
-
Speaking as one of those "handicap" parkers. may I just say, "FU!"No offense, but shouldn't handicapped parking be a bit closer to the stadium? I'm not against having a handicapped lot, but that was one of the lots where tailgating seemed like it would work well. Judging from the reaction from the administration, things like that will be at a premium.

Here's the map of campus parking lots, with parking decks outlined in green. The one on Exchange outside of Shrank is under construction. Looking at this, all the close parking is for VIPs. Lots 12, 14, 20, 30, 34, and 38 are the best for tailgating that aren't decks. I doubt that you'll be allowed to tailgate in city-owned decks, so getting in the university lots is important. The one in between the Chapel and Route 8 is handicap parking only, unfortunately.

There will be lights behind both stands. The lights on the west side will be on top of the press tower, while the lights on the east will be on light poles.

I think JD learned a valuable lesson in that game. The team played with more than enough heart to win it, but the coaches were expecting to show up, get beat up, and collect the paycheck. I don't think he'll make that mistake again. Also, Here's a nice, relatively civilized conversation on Sportsline comparing the two teams, with lots of information being shared.

Sure, but if you do a search for "zips" you get Rasor's blog as the 11th result. Gozips.com is the 14th result, but it;s on the second page.If you had a bunch of people googling for zips and then clicking on UA related sites we would move up the page. Just another benefit of the "What's a Zip?" idea.

The MAC needs to have a balanced schedule, one where we play all the teams in our own division, or else the NCAA can take away the MAC championship game. We're only allowed to do it now thanks to a NCAA waiver. granted on the premise that we're actively seeking a way to balance the divisions. You may not like the championship game, but it brings in more money than all of the MAC bowl games combined. Why in the world would you want to cut Buffalo, Temple, and NIU but keep Can't, BG and EMU? The MAC is too concentrated in northern Ohio. Dropping Can't and BG loses nothing for the league. EMU just sucks all around.
