  1. Who am I thinking of? I know what I saw yesterday and I know what I still have to delete without reading in my message box. You're thinking of somebody who hasn't posted here is a long time, but was referenced by others.
  2. I know who you're thinking of, GP1, and you're mistaken.
  3. I voted Penn State, because they're the least like the other Big 10 schools.
  4. I had to look this up, so I thought I'd share.FBS Stadium listhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NCAA_...otball_stadiumsIt's designed to be expandable. When the need arises it will go up to 50,000 by putting stands on top of the north endzone building to make a horse shoe style stadium. If we need even more than that, the south endzone could be retrofitted to hold stands as well. It's already the largest university-owned stadium in the MAC.
  5. What you might see is the MAC dropping football as a required sport. This allows a few teams to drop down to FCS while still staying in the MAC for everythign else. If the MAC can get down to 9 teams like the MWC, it would be ideal. You lose some dead weight and the football money gets split less ways.
  6. Every conference is cutting back on things except the SEC with their billion dollar TV contract. In tough economic times it is better to find more sources of income than to simply stop spending as much, because once the economy improves those new revenue streams will put you at a higher level, while spending cuts won't.
  7. Media guides just aren't being printed out anymore. They're electronic now, which is a step forward that also saves money because you don't have to print them. Paper media guides are archaic and excessive in an age where every media member worth his salt is carrying around a laptop.
  8. Just keep in mind that the football stadium wasn't really "on campus" until the University bought all that property and transformed it into a part of campus. It added something on the border of campus and made is accessible to both the center of campus (walkways all over campus) and the rest of the city (Route 8 and Exchange). An arena would do well to have the same setup.
  9. Did you leave out an '0'?Oh, and 7000 other students there as well.
  10. There needs to be 1500 screaming students in Rowdies shirts on Sept 12.
  11. Im talking about the MAC as a whole Akron is one of the bright spots..Ah. Sorry. I guess I should have clicked the link. I thought you linked the ESPN one where Akron is called out for supposedly having the 3rd easiest OOC schedule in the non-BCS.
  12. We're playing 3 BCS teams. Sorry if that's not good enough.
  13. This is a strong statement from someone who's respected among the MAC community. It's beginning to look like Akron will NEED to move conferences if we want a chance at achieving our Athletics Departments vision(whatever that may be).Now it's a matter of figuring out who wants to stay FBS, and who wants to leave. I see Buffalo, Akron, and Toledo as obvious choices for those who will stay. The rest? I think some people on this forum may have a good idea..Yeah, that's pretty bad. Dave is one of the biggest fans of the MAC you'll ever find, and he has connections thanks to running macreportonline.com
  14. I think that Buffalo and Toledo would be my favorites to start a new conference with, when the MAC splits and half the teams drop to 1-AA
  15. In the East, I would go with Buffalo.West has to be Toledo. We're very similar to them and I can stand their fans better more than most other MAC teams.
  16. Color coded individual and team champs and updated Men's track through 2008. I'm using the GoZips.com media guides for most of my information. I know that Rifle has won tons of individual and team conference titles, but I can't find a record of them. I would love to see the Rifle team's historical accomplishments recognized. One of the reasons I'm trying to do this is to get all the conference championships from every Akron sport in one place. Another is to see if I can't get the athletic department to do this for me, I mean have a complete list of records for all sports. It's still a work in progress.
  17. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/in...erence_com.htmlIf you care about football, read this interview. Read between the lines. We need to get out of the MAC, before it's too late. Steinbrecher doesn't have a clue.
  18. Why is Buchtel HS given precedence over UA in the Canton Rep headline?Anyway, Williams is talented enough to make it on an NFL team. With Mangini playing favorites with all of the Jets leftovers there wasn't enough room for B.Will on the Browns.
  19. http://www.ohio.com/sports/mcmanamon/48102417.htmlIt might not be directly stated, but I'm taking this as an endorsement.
  20. Sounds like something the sports marketing department should be on top of.
  21. It should be in NCAA '11. There are only two new stadiums and a few more that are getting significant upgrades (like Indiana).
  22. Added Individual championships in Cross Country and Men's Golf. There are no records I can find for Women's Golf or Rifle.Edit: Added Swimming and Diving individual MAC champs. And WBB's NIT appearance. Added Men's Indoor track individual MAC champs. Men's Outdoor through 2008.
  23. If you want a stronger Baseball program, you should be all for moving to the C-USA. The program will become much stronger, while keeping the same or worse record from the much better competition. It would also kill Can't's baseball program. Local recruits would want to play in the C-USA rather than at Can't in the top of the MAC.
  24. Updated the '84 and '85 softball ones, and added the '96 Baseball team.I wish our sports facilities had banners listing the relevant team's accomplishments going all the way back to the Buchtel College years. Maybe tonight I'll get around to figuring out the individual sports championships, assuming there is much of a record of them.Notice that the number of championships increasing corresponds to about the time Akron joined the MAC. That's no coincidence, and I hope that it continues to increase with more teams becoming competitive.
  25. That was much harder to compile than I thought it would be.Not up-to-date media guides, some don't even list championships and you're left guessing or looking for a different source. I know the Women's basketball team played in the NIT one year but damned if I can find anything about that in the media guide or on their website. If you know of any championships or at-large tournament selections for a sport, list them here, and I'll put them on the master list.I didn't bother to figure out individual championships yet. Maybe another day.
