  1. SVSM has field turf. Not sure if that would affect the game...
  2. yeah ill be there along with at least 30 of us, guarantee that.Oh yeah and just heard a rumor that it's at 1pm...i hope that's not trueThat would be a horrible time.I do wonder how this affects all those supposed busloads of OSU fans coming. They didn't cancel the game until after they would have had to leave Columbus...
  3. Kind of like the WVU game a few years back.
  4. According to the Facebook messages, there will be sign-ups at the student gate for $10. Rowdies get in to the NCAA tournament for free, but non-Rowdy students pay $5 for a ticket.
  5. Sometimes you would think that our own athletes would learn from the AK-Rowdies' antics. Most of the football and basketball team is easily accessible on Facebook.Tell Zeke to set any online profiles to private and not to accept any friend requests that come from schools that are on the schedule. Anything and everything on a facebook/myspace account can be turned against you, even if it seems harmless.
  6. I knew Michigan State didn't deserve to be where they were. It was like the NCAA had to find any excuse to keep Akron out of the top 4.Now let's beat OSU to make sure we get a chance to enjoy a few more home games.
  7. Yes, and Yes. If you can see across the street, you're doing better than it is on campus. The MAC championship was played in whiteout conditions, which gives Akron a little bit of an advantage because OSU hasn't played in a major snowstorm before while Akron has.
  8. Ths all hinges on whether JD feels that Fleming is capable of replacing the 3-3-5. If he can, keep him. If he can't, well... there are plenty of options out there for a defensive coach. What makes me wonder, though, is if it is Fleming or his position coaches that don't understand how to fix the problem. Do we even have position coaches?
  9. Oh man. That thing's gonna be under three feet of mud by sundown.
  10. Dambrot unhappy with effort against PittAnd you should be too. The team can't afford to get starstruck. The biggest lesson they needed to take away from Pitt was that they can play with anybody in the country if they put in a good amount of effort. Unfortunately, they weren't playing their best in that game until the second half. There's no such thing as a good loss.
  11. In order to have sustained success, you need to have stability. Going out and getting a coach that will be gone in a few years might mean a good run in the present, but it also means that the school will go back to being crap as soon as the coach leaves (see Buffalo). And if you go out and get a new coach and it turns out that he sucks, then you set the whole program back by a number of years. I am hoping that every single coach and coordinator returns for next year, just to see what can be done when you don't have to spend time and resources trying to fill positions and can focus on improving the team and recruiting.
  12. Replacing Fleming wouldn't benefit us at all next season. The defense would have to learn a new scheme (they might anyways), and it's expensive to replace a coordinator. Might as well go for stability on a team that's fairly young. If nothing changes, though, then it's time to look elsewhere.
  13. JD is not going anywhere, no matter the result. This has to be the worst possible year to be searching for a new head coach, with competition from what looks like at least 20 other D1-A schools. What are the chances that we get a good coach in the scramble?
  14. Snow takes away Akron's style of play. I'm sure they learned a lot about how to play in blizzard conditions in the MAC championship, though.
  15. Montgomery and Martin likely will get fired. Gill, Jones, Cubit, and Hoke will probably get hires somewhere else, since so many other teams from other conferences are firing their coaches this season. The MAC could see up to 8 new head coaches next year! JD needs to stay after this season, if only because it will be impossible to find a new coach with all these other openings.
  16. A bowl game for Akron provides plenty of benefits that you don't really think about. The biggest one being a couple of extra weeks of practice, which would hopefully help the team improve a bit more heading into next season. It's highly unlikely that Akron would get invited to a bowl, but if you want to go over the scenarios, the MAC boards have hundreds of posts detailing just about every possible scenario you can imagine.
  17. This week is the NCAA Tournament. We're playing the most hated team outside of Hippytown. I recently found the mother load of UA soccer videos for your enjoyment ( hope they are embedded right...), and to get an insiders look at what happens behind the goal and how annoying the Rowdies can really be. Imagine putting up with this for 90 minutes only 5 yards behind where you're standing. It's time to get PUMPED!(language warning on all of these) Akron vs. MichiganHere is a 12 part video collection of the Akron vs. WVU game:Part 1:Part 2:Part 3:Part 4:Part 5:Part 6:Part 7:Part 8:Part 9:Part 10:Part 11:Part 12:A commercial for the MAC tournament:OSUcks!
  18. Anybody have the score of OSU-Oakland?
  19. That happens no matter who we play.
  20. This interactive bracket up on NCAA.com is awesome. It has a gametracker for every game currently being played, and updates the bracket after every result.Click for interactive bracket
  21. Nikola is quickly becoming my favorite player. He doesn't back away from anything.
  22. Any comment on the officiating? French always makes it sound like we're getting killed by the refs.
  23. Anybody watching this?
  24. I really wish Akron would become its own media market. UA might be the key to that happening, but I can't see it working out any time soon..
  25. It's much harder to recruit for sports where there is little to no media coverage. Definitely have the student or the coach initiate the contact.
