  1. For the price, this is undoubtedly the best MAC information source available. It is far more in-depth than the other magazines. That said, i still have a beef with where you (and almost every other pre-season mag) have us finishing. Akron is the biggest unknown in the MAC right now. We could be great, and we could be horrible. It just seems like since it is tough to make a prediction, we get placed last by default.
  2. The biggest problem with raising the price of tickets is that compared to the average D-I college admission price the UA ticket price is absurdly low, but the people who buy the tickets have become spoiled. Raising the proce gives the event a bigger sense of legitimacy, compared to the the current price (often free) which implies desperation for attendance. It doedn't matter what the actual product on the field is like. It's the perception that creates the reality, and we need to have a better perceived program.
  3. Apparently each MAC school can change the logo to their own school colors. I like the gold and blue look on the JAR floor instead of the christmas colors.
  4. Unfortunately, it is NOT free to read.
  5. http://jcfootball.scout.com/2/764261.htmlSeems like we have a really great chance to land him.
  6. All insider stories are free this weekend.A great oppurtunity to get the scoop on some of our recruits.
  7. I wonder if I'll end up in any of his classes. I actually switched my major to computer science recently.
  8. I didn't. I wouldn't expect it, though.
  9. Actually I like this look, now the problem is they needed to have this out a couple of months ago, so that it is in popular media (AKA NCAA Football 2009). Rule on in re-branding is...what used to be is no more. You have to get rid of any reference to the old logos that can.It actually is in NCAA '09. I just thought the game developers were lazy and didn't want to bother putting in the official MAC logo so the made a generic one. Turns out, they were ahead of the curve on this one.\Too bad none of the sports publications out there (Athlon, Lindseys, ect.) are using the new logo. The MAC was about one month too late to get it in the mags.
  10. The MAC revealed new conference logos today. it's an improvement over the christmas-themed logo with weird lettering of the past, but it seems like it would look better when used on uniforms of smaller sports (the shield reminds me of soccer and arena sports). It reminds me of a combination of the AFL, NHL, and various soccer leagues.Interesting side-note: the company who designed these logos, The Joe Bosack Graphic Design Company, was the same one that designed all the logos for UA athletics.
  11. Judge Spicer doesn't want to admit he messed up by allowing the Jillians purchase as evidence.UA needs to take this to a higher court.
  12. This would be a sweet place to have a pep rally or as a concert stop on the game-day march from Guzzetta to the stadium! There's plenty of grass, so I was thinking it would be a great tailgating spot if the university would allow it.
  13. I've been feeling it, but maybe that's because I've been watching the AFL playoffs.
  14. The coaches say he's ready to dominate. I'll give it a few games before I decide anything.I'm excited that we have three BCS transfers on the team who know what it takes to compete at that level. That experience is invaluable when playing our non-conference games, and hopefully will carry over into the MAC games as well.
  15. Well, it is the only street that runs through the main area of campus not already named after someone important to UA (Buchtel, Carrol) or referencing it (University Avenue, College Street, and Hill Street ["Hilltop High" references here]), so sure. Not sure what we should name it, but it might be a good idea to have it changed.
  16. OK. Looking at the highest resolution pic I could find of the stadium/dorms project, Vine street will remain as it is now, but Union will become a pathway, like the rest of campus.
  17. I think it's my browser settings. They aren't using Java anymore, the page is set to auto-refresh very quickly with the updated image from the cam. It's much more inefficient and can by screwy, but it's a great way to pump up pageviews: every second of viewing generates 6 pageviews now, while before it was one pageview per time visited. If you just leave it up all day long, they get 518,400 pageviews, instead of just the one time you loaded it.
  18. Nice, but the page's source code is really messed up now. The whole thing refreshes twice a second, so I only get a glimpse of the incomplete image before it partially reloads again.
  19. Class ranked #59 nationallyYeah, yeah, Women's BBall is terrible, I get it. But still, this really is something for a program with as many problems as the lady Zips have. Let's just hope that this class sticks around and doesn't mysteriously leave the team in a year.
  20. http://www.daytondailynews.com/s/content/o...408udbbWeb.htmlCornell Mann was named assistant coach for the Flyers after working at CMU and WMU.
  21. http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...ESS06/806240302An interesting article showing the two clashing mindsets here in Akron: the Progressives and the Pessimists.
  22. Sooo... back on topic, Here's the groupings of games on our schedule.Sure loss: @WisconsinLikely loss: Cincinnati, @Ohio, @EMU, @TempleToss-up: @Syracuse, Ball state, Bowling Green, @Can't StateLikely win: @Army, Toledo, BuffaloThat puts us anywhere from 3-9 in a complete disaster to 8-4 if we pull off an upset or two. It depends almost entirely on the receivers producing and the secondary playing well.
  23. Interesting that Carradine has interest in UA, but we haven't offered yet. If a player like that says he is interested in going to your school, you should at least give him an offer.
  24. I think the recent storms in the area might have knocked them out. Tornados on sunday, flush floods on monday, ect.
