  1. I found this on youtube. Pretty boring, but you see some good shots of our nice campus.http://youtube.com/watch?v=yg2Bpq5B2aw
  2. This description is classic! It evokes a philosophical question. Is "lawn-type area" to grass as "processed cheese food" is to cheese? If you know what I'm talking about, you'll see that that description is pretty accurate. It's not really a lawn, and it has random street lights located in the middle of the field. I think it is gravel covered with about 1 inch of dirt, and then some sod. I don't even know if it is owned by UA or one of the frats, or maybe the Chapel. It's just a relatively large square of grass on the street corner.
  3. There's a nice lawn-type area right across from the parking deck. Perfect for tailgating.
  4. We went through the same crap with the refs during soccer games last year. As long as it isn't illegal or against NCAA rules, they can't do a thing about it.
  5. It's not Facebook's fault that there are people dumb enough to post incriminating evidence on a public and popular website.
  6. JD won't name a starter for QB yet, or for any position, really. The idea is to get a competition so that the players push each other further by trying to outperform the others.
  7. This line of thinking is actually what's holding us back. In fact it's what is wrong with the whole MAC. The idea that money comes from winning is absolutely wrong. There is nothing any UA team can do short of winning a national title that would give us consistantly good attendance and consistantly good media coverage and consistantly good athletic donations. The only thing that is consistant and under the university's control is the Athletic Department budget. The only thing that is controllable is the amount of comittment that the university has to athletics. Everything else depends on too much outside factors to be reliable forms of advancing the programs. This stadium was a matter of necessity. We needed it to keep up, let alone to attempt to advance. Right now we're playing catch up. We're simply trying to stay afloat. To take the next step, there needs to be a massive overhaul of everything we do regarding athletics. There needs to be a massive comittment to do things the right way. Mostly it's the little things that let you know just how much the U is putting into athletics. The details tell me that it's not as much as it seems. Here are some examples:[*]Not utilising all the concession stands in the JAR. - This is a problem. It may not seem like it to you, but it sends a message that we're only half-assing it when it comes to serving the fans. I'm sure we could find some college kids that would be willing to work for two hours twice a week selling food.[*]No vendors selling food/drinks in the stands - Same as above, only this applies for all sports. They only do this when we play Can't for football and basketball. They don't do this at soccer games at all.[*]Very little pregame entertainment or fanfare - They need to show highlites during the warmup time on the screens at the JAR instead of a screensaver. - They need to have face-painting booths for the kids at every single athletic event. The dance team or cheerleaders could do it.Most people don't realize stuff like this is missing until it is pointed out, but it has an effect on their gameday experience whether they realize it or not. These are a few simple things that I don't see, and it tells me that there is either a lack of comittment to athletics events or a serious lack of creativity on some gameday planning committee (assuming we even have someone who is inchrge of making these things happen, and if not they need to hire someone NOW!).
  8. I'm not sure, but the Mr. Hero going down is a good sign. I have felt for a while that we should bring the beauty of the campus to that run down area as well. UA's main borders should be from the traintracks/downtown, to Route 8, and from Exchange to Market. Heading towards Market is the only real way to expand wothout cutting the campus into chunks geographically due to main roads or natural barriers.
  9. You almost had me there. Good one.
  10. Sounds like wishful thinking. He claims it will happen because it makes sense in his mind. Classic internet behavior: You think something up, and it makes so much sense to you that you claim it as a fact.
  11. Geno Ford may be offered by Ohio if they get rid of Tim OShea. Hopefully they can get him before Can't State is able to announce a new Head Coach.
  12. GoZips.com doesn't even have last year's "future schedule" right. The only ones who would know anything would be the Mack Rhoades or someone in his office.
  13. Coach Dambrot after 4 years as HC: 92-38Bob Huggins after 5 years as HC: 97-46Huggins' name is near legend around UA. He got us our only NCAA appearance in school history, and coached the ultimate team of overachievers.Dambrot is only 5 wins shy of besting that win total, and he has a whole season to do it. Dambrot has given us the only two post-season wins in school history. The talent level has never been higher here.
  14. Who's replacing him? Whoever it is will have a mess on their hands if they can't continue recruiting JUCOs.
  15. It's actually against NCAA rules, but the MAC got a waiver. In order to have a championship game, all teams in a division must play eachother, which means that only the division record needs to be used to get a divisional champ. They did this because of the unbalanced schedule.
  16. This means that MAC West teams count the same as East teams.Every MAC team plays eight games this year, making a three-way tie impossible to resolve.
  17. I think I see the start of a wall on the very left side of cam 2.
  18. Going on what I know (which is nothing, at this point), I have to assume that if the rumor is true that Coach Kest was justified in what she did. As a coach, you don't get rid of half your team and most of the star players unless it was something serious. Coach Kest is putting her job on the line with this move. We may not win a single game next year (no offense to the other players on the team, but when you lose four players that log significant minutes you will struggle), if this is all true. I can't imagine Kest jeopardizing her career unless it was for something serious.
  19. Mike Rasor's going to report from spring practice this afternoon.
  20. I do. But I won't say why here.I will just say that off-the-court discipline is a bit lacking in some of the players on the WBB team. I fear that something has caught up with them that may have happened over spring break. This is the most I've cared about women's basketball all year. Details, please!Yeah, seriously. Please share...even if doing so via private message is necessary.in all seriousness (and it is kind of an a jerky thing to admit knowing, but not giving details) it would be inappropriate and disrespectful to spread around all information especially with regards to severe discipline. some things are just better unspread.Exactly. That's why I said I won't post it here. This is something to be handled by the coaches and players. We can only wait and hope that everything works out for the good of the team.
  21. Sounds like a good policy. I would rather err on the side of caution than cause some NCAA sanctions or something.I do enjoy updates from the recruits or their families and I love the hints that are sometimes given, though. On campus, I sometimes see recruits walking around with coaches for many sports. I tend to avoid interrupting them, and let the coaches do their job. It should be no different here.

  23. http://www.ay-ziggy-zoomba.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19815 This was posted on the BG boards.
  24. Those are our core players for the future! Each one was either a Soph or Frosh, and they all logged lots of significant minutes.I remember last year around tournament time that we had some discipline problems which resulted in some of our starters being suspended for the tournament, and ultimately to Nikki McCoy leaving for BGSU.I hope this doesn't become a reccuring problem.
  25. Christian might go, but I always thought his was goal was to get to an East Coast team, and this is pretty much the exact opposite of that. I actually hope Christian goes. His team will fall apart without him there to hold together his JUCO amalgm and nobody able to find replacements. It's a recipe for disaster once he leaves, and it would be beautiful to see them fall like that.
