Here is my issue with the "student section"...again...outside of the AK ROWDIES who sit on the floor...LOVE U GUYS!! I was very disappointed in the RESPONSE of those students. I give credit for the fact that they "showed up" and it was the largest student attendance and all of that good stuff..BUT (and I paid VERY CLOSE attention to this)...when the announcer ran out on the floor and said "everybody get on your feet and make some noise", "come on support your team", "don't you want them to win...stand up"...BOTH STUDENTS SECTIONS on the Upper level DID NOT MOVE! On both sides...and believe me when I tell you...I was watching VERY CLOSELY..they didn't get up, they didnt open their mouths...they weren't cheering...they werent "in the game"..though they were "at the game" AND THAT is my problem! I mean, they looked at that announcer as if he had 3 heads and REFUSED to get up and say anything!!! So though the numbers were good...their TRUE SUPPORT was non existent and that (for me) is UNACCEPTABLE for a 4-0 team! Just not cool at all! #justmyopinion#
-
ABSOLUTELY DIG....they are NON FACTORS and IRRELEVANT in the scheme of things....but like I told UAZips0510..I just FELT LIKE speaking my mind to those 2 in particular....JUST BECAUSE!
-
Thank you...the opposing fans are irrelevant to me..its OUR OWN FANS..that get under my skin sometimes! Yes, it is hard to read some of their 'idiotic' comments...but at the end of the day "I'M GONNA LET THE STATS TALK--LOUD AND CLEAR"!!! He's a chicken noodle soup eating, hot tea with honey and cough drops and OJ drinking, laying in the bed sleeping, sleeping, sleeping....dude!!! LOL

Here's the deal..when you have the Can't board COMPLIMENTING our student section at THEIR GYM..when you have Cant's radio station..."calling out their own student section for their LACK of support"....I personally consider that the BIGGEST FORM OF FLATTERY! Say what you want....when ANOTHER school gives props to our SUPPORTIVE and LOUD our students are..then you may want to "transform your thinking"...NOW...my personal problem is that outside of the AK Rowdies whom I LOVE AND ADORE FOREVER.....the general student section is HORRIBLE when it comes to supporting and 'making noise' during home games! THAT is what I find horrendous and straight pathetic! Really...4-0 and we can't even get you up and standing and shouting and making noise..REALLY.... #its my opinion and I'm entitled to it#

I absolutely have no problem in letting the stats speak LOUD and CLEAR...I just felt like speaking my mind tonight!

Hey....KEP and SKIP-ZIP.... I'm calling BOTH of you out! Where are you NOW??!! I don't hear you mouthing off concerning Zeke! You both are ssssoooo quick to want to talk "reckless" when he has an off game...but here are some STATS for you (courtesy of Dave In the Green)... Quick update after today's Can't game on where Zeke stands in various NATIONAL OFFENSIVE statistical rankings: #1: Zeke remains the nation's leader in free throw rate (number of free throw attempts per field goal attempt, i.e. they have to foul him to stop him from scoring). #2: Zeke has moved up from 4th to 2nd best in floor percentage (an individual's scoring possessions divided by his total possessions). #5: Zeke has moved up from 13th to 5th best in field goal percentage at 67.3%. #8: Zeke has moved up from 9th to 8th best in true shooting percentage (summary of 2-point, 3-point and free throw shooting percentages) at 69.1%. #9: Zeke is currently #9 in effective field goal percentage at 69.8% (not sure why I didn't include this category in the original post). #23: Zeke has moved up from 41st to 23rd best in offensive rating (a player's efficiency at producing points for the offense based on field goals, free throws, assists, offensive rebounds and turnovers). Of course, Zeke is still well in the top 10 in all shot block categories. But that's old news. Everyone knew Zeke could block shots. It's the extreme improvement in offensive categories that's going to register with the NBA scouts come NBA draft time. As the season goes on, his offensive numbers are going up, not down. You guys are both so typical and quite sad..won't come on here NOW when his game is 'back on" DESPITE the fact he is battling this NASTY FLU BUG...YEAH..thats what I thought....TAKE A SEAT!!!!

Here is the deal EVERYONE..not only am I VERY CLEAR on the statistal data concerning the downfall of professional athletes but so is Zeke! He is a very sound, wise with his finances young man whose desire is to have his money MAKE HIM MONEY! I have had the pleasure of speaking with current pro athletes as well as several retired athletes both from the NFL, NBA and NHL and I CLEARLY understand the snares and trappings that often times occur with athletes! Having said that...let me say this...I am very clear on the financial strategy that is needed for Zeke to be financially secured. Both Zeke and I have spoken with some very successful financial advising firms, who understand the financial perils of pro athletes! I so appreciate the advice "you am I" and please know that WE have been and will continue to be very strategic about all of our decisions when it comes to his finances and it certainly doesn't hurt that Zeke is VERY educated concerning the investment market and has a very clear plan! PS: We both have watched "30 for 30 BROKE" at least 3 times TOGETHER...so he got it...understands it and have no intent on becoming one of them! #In All they getting...WE got an understanding#

THANK U!! THANK U!! THANK U!!! It was a LOOONNGGG 2 years but so worth it! On to the REAL JOB!!

I came across this article in my 'daily' browsing of all things NBA and found it quite interesting....though I do realize that the writer is just offering is *cough..cough--opinion* I found it quite interesting that Zeke is outperforming in one way or the other SEVERAL of the players he has listed...I ask that you would pay "special attention" to slides #3,5, 15 and especially 17! http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1456971...ers-and-fallers Again...its just MY OPINION (which I am entitled to) and YES I am BIASED! OH well...lol:)

and the NEWEST bracketology has Akron vs San Diego State in San Jose...."WE'RE MOVING ON UP" http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology

He has been doing both...heat/ice treatment combo. He certainly was iced up after the game last night and I'm sure they are taking care of it today as well. I'm just thankful that he has a little more time to rest up before classes start and he's sitting for a long period of time in a classroom..(which could also stiffen him up). Like I said before...the coaches and trainers are on top of it and doing what they feel is necessary to help him out! Big things ahead! #TeamZeke /Twitter: @mommazeke
-
He is battling tendonitis and last night he fell on the same knee. It's VERY, VERY sore...but he is getting treatments and the coaches and trainer are on top of it. I personally, would like to see him sit out NIU and rest his knee...BUT...THAT won't happen! Hoping he has a "light" practice today and just rest, rest, rest it! All is well...keep him in your prayers and LETS GO ZIPS! #TeamZeke (twitter: @mommazeke)

OK..so I know we are moving on to Princeton tomorrow...BUT...I HAD to put this up courtesy of the SBNation Hustle Belt article: Akron 83, Texas Southern 68 By Matt Sussman on Dec 28, 8:00a And we're back to basketball! There are some more games on Friday but for now Akron disposed of a one-win SWAC team rather easily. The Zips took a 43-23 halftime lead with the simple notion of giving the ball to really tall people: HILARIOUS.....Zeke Marshall had 15 points in the first half alone and Demetrius Treadwell had eight points, which equaled Texas Southern's first half total. Marshall finished with 21 points, eight rebounds and five blocks and Treadwell put up 18 points and 10 boards. Alex Abreu also made some threes en route to a 14-point night. Next up for the 7-4 Zips is a tough little battle on Sunday against Princeton.

Are you serious! Do EVERYONE a favor and PLEASE make sure to CHECK YOUR FACTS: as a Freshman (2009-10): posted a double-double in his first collegiate start, tallying 10 points and 12 rebounds in the season opener against Austin Peay (Nov. 15) as a Sophomore (2010-11): per GOZIPS.COM recorded two double-doubles including a 14 point, 14 rebound performance against Arkansas-Little Rock (Dec. 21) and a 20 point, 11 rebound effort against Can't State (Jan. 8) COASTAL CAROLINA: FRIDAY - NOV 9, 2012 Zeke Marshall posted a double-double to open the year, leading Akron with 15 points and a game-high 10 boards to go along with three blocked shots. OKLAHOMA STATE: THURSDAY - NOV 15, 2012 Brian Walsh led Akron (1-2) with his first-career double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 boards. Marshall also added a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. It was the first time since March 13, 2010, that two UA players recorded double-doubles in the same game And they have only played 10 GAMES so far!

I hear EVERYONE...and all have very good and legitimate points of view...HOWEVER when does it become about the TEAM and not who they are playing? Pitt students dont give a hoot who their opponent is, they go to those games, pack it out because its THEIR TEAM, its THEIR SCHOOL and I can appreciate that. All I'm saying is that if the student body won't take pride in THEIR SCHOOL, their TEAM regardless...then what gives? It is just unfortunate to read and its seems that the consenses is that the only way to get a good and CONSISTENT student body support is to win games and win games ONLY...but you can't tell me that the electric atmosphere we have when we are playing Can't and OU is not something that those players have earned, deserves and desires to have at ALL HOME GAMES! Call me old school...but that is my story and I'm sticking to it! blah! blah! blah! Guess I won't be seeing many of them on the 18th when we play *gulping* Arkansas Pine Bluff!! PS: UUUhhmmmm yeah..Zipmeister...if you honestly think that I could POSSIBLY drive and type on my laptop at the same time...I got a 'bridge' I want to sell you... BUT..if anyone of you computer, techie genius' come up with a program that would allow me to do that...INBOX ME!!! (OK people..I am ONLY JOKING) so dont freak out on me! MUAH!!!
-
#PICKING UP THE MIC...#tap, tap...is this thing on??!!!# Attn. Attn: OK..so here is the deal....I have NEVER, EVER seen such poor student support for an athletic program. Can someone PLEASE explain to me why our student section (which is FREE) was so sparse and with so few students? To have to beg a student body to support a program with the success that our basketball team has is HORRENDOUS! I was so upset last night to look up and see so few students coming out. Its' bad enough that I had to watch them practically beg the student body to come out and support the soccer team and now the same with the basketball program? I mean seriously GUYS! That is so pathetic and so, so sad! As a matter of fact, its an INSULT (there I said it!) WOW! So because you all have to sit in Section 11 (mind you its FREE)...and no one comes? Ok...I get it, everyone is getting ready for FINALS WEEK..well guess what..SO AM I and I drive 2 HOURS there and 2 HOURS back home...while doing homework on my laptop, in the car AND holdin down a 3.5 GPA...OOOooooo and a family, kids, job, church, kids, home, job and husband! I know there are those of you on here that want to blame the marketing dept or the school and say that they aren't doing enough..but barring them going to student's dorm rooms and yanking them out of their rooms and forcing them to come to the JAR, show there ID (for a FREE ticket) and sit their behinds down to cheer on the basketball program, when will we ask the STUDENTS..what the heck is up with you???? It makes no kind of sense to me! I dont' get it. THAT IS ALL! #dropsmic#

OK...so I'm going to add my two cents in here and agree with both of you. I ABSOLUTELY HATE the fact that the band is down on our end...I was trying to have a conversation with the person behind me and I couldnt hear them and they couldn't hear me and so we are there yelling at each other just trying to have a 2 mins conversation! Whoever decided to move the band to our end made a HUGE mistake and I hope they are reading this...because that choice was HORRIBLE..HORRIBLE...HORRIBLE!!!
-
Hi Zips family....while you are enjoying your leftovers...check out Creigton vs Wisconsin game, starting in about 5 mins on ESPN2....
