  1. Passion by definition, according to Webster, is any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate. Magic doesn't happen between now and the end of the season, progression by hard work does. Some of the things that concerned fans this time last year are the exact same things that were corrected by the end of the season to make us a better team. Some things need to "progress" this year to make us a better team by the tournament, no different. One thing that I see that will progress is KD learning how to use Zeke. I'm really excited to watch that. There is no mold of how to be a fan. Critiquing a player, coach or game is part of sports. Critiquing doesn't have to be negative. Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean they are negative. I don't agree with a lot of what is written here, but I love to hear other peoples opinions on the team that I root for. I would hate to see people stop expressing their opinion on ZN.
  2. It's Ken+, if your not passionate about losing to Ken+, how in the heck....never mind.Sometimes it's the way a team can lose that upsets a fan. We went from having a chance of winning, to getting embarrassed.
  3. Nik, Z, and Nitro seemed like they were pumped to play in this game. The rest of the team looked like they didn't care to be there. Ken+ played defense like I wish we could.....Calling MAC player of the week....hello....hello....?
  4. Good defensive line = talent + technique + scheme + play callingWe were missing at least half the equation last year, I hope we fix that this year and stop the run and get some QB pressure. J-E-T-S, Jets Jets Jets!!!!
  5. One, I'm a fan, so if I have hope for my team, I'll stay positive until I see something negative. Two, he hasn't lost one game as the Akron head coach yet. Three, he plays in the MAC. So yeah, I'm willing to give him the BOD.If you want to start crying about the guy before he coaches one frigin game of football, you might want to change your allegiance.
  6. One of my friends that knows a mac coach told him that Rob is the most intelligent person he ever met. So Dan Scofield better reconsider.
  7. +1
  8. Piece of cake. Take 15 minutes a day and read through all the threads on ZipsNation. Now you know what is on the fans minds. Try to answer their questions with facts and research. Example, a poster asked recently about what become of the the ncaa investigation into one of our football coach that got suspended this year. Find out. Do a Q and A with a senior member of the football team. Ask them how they are adjusting to the staff and what they think of the up and coming season. Interview Youtube Tom on scheduling, both bball and football. Grab one of the new assistants from the football team (offensive or defensive), ask them about what type of scheme they like to run and what their goal is. Try to inform the fanatic of Akron sports, don't dumb it down for Joe Akron.

  10. I'll take a guess and say that there is a white t-shirt sitting on all the lower bowl seats when those season ticket holders get to their seats. Those lower seats are the ones that will be on tv 95% of the time. More than likely, Rowdies too.
  11. I don't doubt you on this, but do you have some kind of link where he is quoted as saying this?Broderick averaged 3.4 yards per carry on 59 carries.Martin averaged 6.7 yards per carry on 25 carries.Torrence averaged 4.9 yards per carry on 30 carries.I think we'll be fine at running back.
  12. Here is some more on the Bod Pod pictured in the article. The University of Akron offers BOD POD testing: * Community: $25.00 per test * Faculty/Staff: $20 per test * Students: $15 per test
  13. The reason nobody is answering your question, is that 4 out of our top five WRs graduated (Bowser, Miller, Bruce and Jones). We have a new coaching staff, and we haven't had any spring practice yet. Jeremy LaFrance will be back. He had the most receptions (43) on our team last year as a junior. Anthony Meriwether & Nadir Brown had 5 catches each last year and will return. Other than Curtis Brown's one catch, the rest of our WRs did not have a catch last year. If you go to the spring game, you will have a better answer to your question. I'm hoping Nadir Brown will work hard and step up this year. The limited time he was on the field last year, he looked promising to me. Nice size too at 6'5".Incoming freshman from Wadsworth (#8) Anthony Schrock. The nice thing is that our receivers will be playing with PN16 at QB. If we can establish a running game this year, wide receiver will not be a problem on this coming team IMO.
  14. "Coach Ianello, told me that I'm number one on their recruiting board for everyone they're trying to get this year," ......
  15. Best way to get your answer. Let us know.I would like the members of the Akron media to get off of their collective asses and ask the question then report it. If there was nothing there, they should publish it. Your best post of 2010 :thumb:PS Your best chance of this, is that the person under question gets hired by another school and that local paper does the story.

  17. Consider the source. Dan Scofield?
  18. I'm considering marketing the "CONYERS glasses" I bet I can sell upwards of 25 pair
  19. You were also told "WOO HOO!" (by me).Say it's so!!!Fear the moustache! TM (I'm working on the logo and t-shirts)We might need to honor him the way the Steelers honored Ken Anderson a couple weeks ago.
  20. 2007 - .277 points per minute played2008 - .287 points per minute played2009 - .225 points per minute played2010 - .383 points per minute playedHe is proving to be more productive per minute played this year than any other. He is averaging 8.8 points per game this year in 23 minuets played. If he played 23 minutes per game last year his stats would average out to 5.1 points per game.
  21. I give Harris and Montgomery a small pass. They had QB problems. You won't be successful on offense without a solid QB. That position didn't sure up until the middle of the season. That will not be a problem next year. PN16 should be solid. Now if this staff can mix in a solid running game with PN16...sky is the limit IMO. I'm hoping our bread and butter running play is not a hand off in the shotgun with PN16 running next to the RB!?!
  22. I come to this conclusion 7 years ago. It makes accepting bad calls more tolerable. But there are too many calls overall.
  23. If somebody bet me that Jimmy would have a double double this year, I would have bet against him. I was wrong.Welcome to the team Jimmy. Better late than never. Conyers Leads the Way (PD Article)
  24. I wonder how successful the "pick three" promo was with football? I thought that was a good idea. I would like to see something done like that with basketball. Maybe you give a basketball "coupon" away with the football season tickets. One free GA to any game before the Ken+ game. This way you don't have extra mailing cost, you reach every Zips football fan, you make them attend a game early enough you might get repeat fans later in the season. I would also cross reference the alumni that are signed up on the alumni site that live within 30 miles and offer the same type of "coupon"But the best way to increase attendance is a long term plan by getting more students to the game. Those students become lifetime fans like a lot of us on this site. You don't know how many alumni I come across that didn't go to one bb game or football game while attending, and don't now.Okay...I'm using the emoticon on myself now after reading my post back.
