I run my finger down the side of a balloon once to make a "squeak" sound in the student section during an opponents foul shot attempt. The ref threatened to throw me out if I didn't stop. (this was 15 years ago)

I used to love Hong Kong Phooey when I was a kid, so every time I see Reggie, I can't help but think of Scatman Crothers. I think he was on Chico & the Man too.In my best Scatman voice..."Hah! Hoo! And a-rinky dinky doo (to you)!"

I guess 8.2 million figured it out, could it have been more on NBC?

I think you guys got trumped by Sports Illustrated (click on Monday)

Dan tries to build on senior bowl performance, may not throw at combine. At the Senior Bowl, LeFevour completed 5 of 10 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for a 1-yard TD in earning the North Offensive MVP honors.

I don't. They have time to prepare and study. It's going to happen in any decent paying job. Happens at mine.

I would argue that they show up for the "big" game. This was a big game for them (sell out). Everybody can have a game like Akron did against EMU. I'm guessing that is how their game against WMU went. I want to play big in big games. One team did on Saturday, one did not. We need to fix that.

I figured it was in HD somewhere because I turned over to NBC and the elf was showing highlights in HD. I have direct tv I watched it on CNBC (channel 356), CNBC (channel 355) was showing curling in HD. I simply hit the "olympic icon" on the guide and that's where it took me.

As I'm sure most of you on this board do, I love to watch sports on TV. HD has made that experience even greater. Unintelligent announcers detract from the experience. I hate listening to talking heads that announce sports and have nothing to offer. I could go on and on with a list of terrible people that announce now-a-days. Instead, I'll give you a good one. I don't know how many of you got to witness the US play Canada last night. Why would you? They hid the game on CNBC in standard definition for some bizarre reason. If you couldn't find it, you missed out. Unbelievable game. But the point of my post is the announcing was awesome. I had to look up the announcer this morning and realized he is a MAC guy. Mike Emrick. Great job Mike.

This one hurt for me. Saturday afternoon, on national TV (ESPNU) during the winter (can't go outside). Good opponent, so I thought it would be a good measuring stick. I was really looking forward to this game. We didn't look good losing. The team looked ready to play (as opposed to Ken+ game). I was expecting a better showing. I don't want to think "well, we're just a good mac team", but I think that is the reality. VCU is a better team. I was "basketball pumped" after watching a good half of Siena/Butler game before my alma mater got pounded. I'm not good at rationalizing a loss to make myself feel better about losing. Final score is the only thing I care about. A win against Buffalo will make me forget and start to get me excited about the MAC tourney.

No turnovers in the first half so what exactly do you mean ?I thought they did a good job offensively in the paint in the first half forcing us into foul trouble.
-
VCU looks well coached. They are attacking our weaknesses well.

Yes, it don't mean a thing unless you win that ring! Winners win, losers lose.

Mike Rasor or Tom Gaffney, do you guys check in here?
Dr Z replied to The Hip Zip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Hip you might let Tom Wistrcill help you out. He seems helpful and accessible Click here for ASK THE AD -
So does Akron.

I like him, entertaining. I wish Akron would work in a student into their radio broadcast. When I was young, my dad used to listen to OSU football games on the radio, I remember telling him, these announcers blow, they don't give you any useful information, but I like the sideline reporterhe really seems to know his stuff and gives you good info...it was Herbstreit. I'm not comparing the two, but you have to start somewhere and I like ken+ giving him a chance. I would rather listen to this kid nervously stumble his way trying to give you something than a polished guy tellingme the two teams are "trying to heat it up and melt the snow here"I always thought Bernie was the most entertaining Browns announcer too, give him some pain pills and a mic, pure gold to me.

I'm using this line at some point of my life before the end of March.

Agreed. I think both, part genius, part thief. But playing the system under the rules of the system. Just like the Yankees do. Don't hate the playa. I don't even care if they win a championship, more than anything, I want LBJ to stay in the area. But I gotta think the championship comes now.

I wonder if Danny Ferry voted?

That was AWESOME!How easy is this (Q&A) for a BJ writer to do with 5 players from our current team? Run them every Friday for 5 straight weeks before the season starts. It's a great way for the reader to learn a lot about players on the team. The reader starts to care about the player, and follows the team. Rasor did something like this in video format and I enjoyed it.

Stat of the game: 0-15 for MUPlay of the game: Off the late time out, Humpty cutting to the hoop for the layup. Post game interview Steve says what a great play you drew up there coach. KD says, that's not how we drew it up, Humpty improvised. Most disappointing: Game not being on channelsurffing site. I really wanted to watch that game. I can't evaluate the game very well from listening on the radio. You can only look at the box score and make uneducated guesses while relying on what the announcers choose to tell you. Joe Dunn made it a point to say "Humpty is playing the point" when #4 was in the game. Steve ignored the comment and continued describing the play. I wonder how many minutes were played like that?Comment of the game: KD "our fans would complain about that" referring to Steve's joke of playing the Jewish center.Best chance for a graphic re-occurance: McNight-mare On Carroll StreetMost vanilla article on the game: Today's PD article. I've seen the PD cover NHL hockey games better!?!Charlie Hustle: Again, hard to judge just by listening to the game, but sounds like Cvetinovic saved multiple possessions with hard play.Result: Any win on the road in the MAC is a good one, so it looks like we are a lock for a buy in the tournamentFocus: March 5 is going to be a very important game for momentum in the tournament.

Good article.I'm not sure I understand this: Is the writer suggesting we didn't deserve to be there, or we "stole" Buffalo's chance?

Tell the pastor the good news....youtube.com. It took me over 2 and a half hours to get to the Bosley interview. Save yourself the time. Jamie tells his story to try to validate the pastor's message that you are in the "wilderness" unless you do what he says. Here is Jamie's story in a nutshell: Is the pastor really this guy?

Now your starting to get it. What you are describing is called a point guard. I don't think anybody personally dislikes McNees, most long time fans on this board feel that our team is better if Steve is not at the point. The skills you describe are mostly inherent. I think you can coach some players for 10 years and they aren't going to become the ball handler, passer, court vision, leader needed at the point. Steve is better helping our team with his spot up shooting. Why is he at the point? It's not his fault he is the best option (very debatable). It's the coaching staffs fault for not having a better option. I'll give a small pass due to Ronnie's early injury problems. If I'm defending the Zips, I pressure the ball every single time he crosses mid court with the ball.
