  1. I understand that a player's safety is becoming increasingly important in football, which, obviously is a good thing. With that being said, I have no idea what the targeting rule is in college. I suppose I'm jaded. As far as I can tell (from watching every Zips game since they instituted the rule), any time an Akron player makes any kind of hit that could be close to anything described above, they get flagged, and ejected. When it happens to an Akron player, not so much. As the hit happened, I turned to an Akron cameraman and said "that's targeting, and an ejection in Akron, I can't believe that's not even a flag here"...he responded, "they just threw the flag." I have heard multiple times, "the officials are erring on the side of caution when it comes to targeting." At the very least, they didn't do that. At some point and time of my life, I would like to ask Alvin what he thought of that call. I'll have a guess he can describe it with two letters from the alphabet.
  2. It should show up here, like all the Terry Bowden shows. (the gozips.com links to this site) If anybody is still in south Florida, I plan on watching the game outside at Monty's Sunset. Show up early for the sunset, it's worth it. Food is average, band tonight is good, I have seen them on multiple occasions. Go Zips!
  3. Short answere, no. More details as to why when I return.
  4. Thanks, long day, landed in Miami at 4 pm, just made kickoff. Can’t wait until next season already! ????????
  5. Nov 2013 OU lost to #10 ranked OSU 69-79.
  6. Looks like the big guy is in town.
  7. Everybody is in South Florida. They have had a busy schedule since arriving Friday. I have seen Delton at every game since he got hurt. He laughs, and does a lot of smiling on the bench. I'm surprised to see he still has to use his cart. Glad to see him enjoying himself. Image from Deltron's Instagram page. Image from Warren's Instagram page.
  8. Some random quotes from the weekend. Andrew Hauser on stopping FAU's rushing attack... "We?ve stressed a lot about their running back, they have a really, really good running back. As long as we tackle him and play our gaps, we?ll be ready. We?ll be just fine on the defensive side of the ball." FAU Linebacker Rashad Smith on being named "Most Improved"... "It means a lot. I come in everyday and work. Just striving to be the best. I'm a way better player than last year...definitely because I'm more comfortable on the field." Coach Terry Bowden on playing in South Florida... "You can go a lot of places to play, but you can't go anywhere better than South Florida. With 31 of our athletes being from Florida, 11 being from an hour around here , it's a homecoming for this game" Kyron Brown on playing in his hometown... "No pressure... it actually makes me feel a lot better. I'm so comfortable playing in front of family, so it makes it a lot better." Lane Kiffin on the durability of Jalen Young... "For whatever reason he gets banged up a lot...He's not really a big guy, he has more of a corner body, but because he plays so hard and he's so physical, obviously has great ball skills, he's just a really good player."
  9. The Zips didn't stop the run in many of their victories this year. Good luck. Pretty even voting across the board.
  10. It's South Florida, its tradition. ?
  11. Boca-swag for travel day.
  12. Sorry, a day late. Discuss your selections. If Question 4 is a tie, all answers will be considered correct.
  13. Flying out later in the morning and staying longer. I have used the tri rail from MIA to FLL to do the same before, not a terrible option. There is a free shuttle bus from the station to the airport.
  14. Some good info in the article. Quotes from Bowden, and KN1. Three Phil photos. “Coming from high school the speed is a lot faster, so a lot of it was just me coming out of my reads earlier, trusting my legs and my ability to run the ball,” he said. The change from then to now has been significant. “That’s a big thing I’ve improved on as I’ve been here,” he said. “You know, getting more comfortable with the offense and getting more reps so the speed of the game has slowed down. I’ve been able to distribute better.” For him, the process has been a simple one. “I think film study, reps — getting reps in practice then going over that practice and going over the mistakes you made. That’s how you get better,” he said. Last practice in Ohio today, flight tomorrow, and one more practice on Saturday.
  15. Your are asking for sympathy from the wrong fan base, we restarted our program over from "scratch" in 2012. We are excited about where the program is headed now, but it took us awhile to undo what was done. This bowl game will be another step for both program's future success. Good luck. I have no inside info, I was commenting on the fact that coach mentioned that he may practice the '''starters" for an hour and dismiss them, and work with the young guys. It would not surprise me to see one of the younger receivers see some extended playing time on Tuesday though. Maybe somebody who "stepped it up" in practice this week...given more time.
  16. ??‍♂️ I missed this today, anybody listen that can give a recap?
  17. Sunshine puts fans in a state of euphoria. ☀️?? I'm looking forward to hearing coach Amato talk about the Owl's offense tomorrow. Three more practices, and the team is off to Florida on Friday. I bet some young gun in our receiving group got better today.
