ESPN3 – Marty Bannister and Toni Roesch (Analyst). Ohio enters the contest with a 9-13 overall record and 2-8 in MAC play. OU is favored by five.

I hope the person that designed that play gets some deserved credit. It has to be somewhat rewarding for them to see it used on the biggest stage.

From (OU grad) Peter King today....Reich told me the kernel of the idea originated from an industrious Eagles quality-control coach, Press Taylor. Said Reich: “Press has this, what we call this vault of trick plays. It's an immense vault, so every week we go into Press's vault looking for plays.” Taylor, it appears, found the play in a meaningless Week 17 game in 2016. At 1:10 this morning, The MMQB’s Kalyn Kahler found a play from the Chicago-Minnesota game that doubtless led to Target left bunch, Philly special. Bears running back Jeremy Langford took a direct snap from center, quarterback Matt Barkley lined up behind the right tackle, and wideout Cam Meredith circled back behind Langford and took a pitch from him. Barkley leaked out of the backfield into the end zone. No one covered him. At the 11-yard line, Meredith tossed the ball to Barkley, two yards deep in the end zone. I would like to hear more from Solich (or whomever put it in against the Zips). Somebody has to ask today right?

Yeah, first time. ?

Anybody watching the Eagles game recognize the play?

Was it the Bowling Green game at the very end where the Zips were the beneficiary of a bad out of bounds call? They reviewed it, turns out it was out of bounds on Akron because the opponent slapped across the arm causing the ball to go out. Possession goes the other way, but no foul because you can't review that!?! How does that scenario of events make the game better?

Jimond Ivey earned Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week accolades after leading the Akron men's basketball team with two great performances, including a historic 48-point effort, the league announced Monday. Over the two-game span, Ivey averaged 32.5 points while shooting 55.3 percent from the field (21-of-38) and 61.1 percent from long distance (11-of-18). In 79 minutes of action, he went 12-of-14 from the free throw line while adding 7.0 rebounds (14), 3.0 assists (6), 1.5 steals (3) per game. Ivey broke several records in a 111-106 double-overtime loss to Ball State at Worthen Arena. Ivey scored 48 points to set Akron's all-time single-game scoring record which stood for 25 years. He also set the Worthen Arena records for most points and most 3-pointers in a game while tying the arena record for made field goals. Ivey was magnificent on both ends of the floor against the Cardinals, shooting 65.2 percent (15-of-23) from the field that included a 75 percent effort (9-of-12) from downtown. Ivey scored 34 points in regulation and registered seven points in each of the 5-minute overtime periods. He was 9-of-10 from the charity stripe and added eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a blocked shot in 49 minutes of work. Source: GoZips.com

Duquesne Basketball Coach Keith Dambrot
Dr Z replied to Valpo Zip's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
I follow since DK Pittsburgh Sports covers them so well. Duquesne is back in action Saturday at 24th-ranked Rhode Island Chris Mueller wrote an very informative piece the other day. He does a great job. I'm jealous. -
Correct. He cut his hair recently.

I'll give another hint in an hour or so if needed.

Hint one, this is a recent photo.

Great game. Good hustle and effort. Coach is getting the most out of his players right now. I liked Virshon's emotional effort to work the crowd after the late foul. Then I loved his handshake with his "teammates" after he made his first free throw.

Sounds like the right attitude, and he is correct. He would have a good start working with Haley. Wyoming QB Josh Allen said he wants "to be the guy that turns around" the Browns. "The guy that does that is going to be immortalized in Cleveland forever," Allen added. "If I’m fortunate enough to become a Cleveland Brown, you can expect everything from me." This is almost a subtweet of UCLA QB Josh Rosen, who said he would rather "be a lower pick" than play for the "wrong team." A scout reportedly told MMQB's Peter King there is "no way" the Browns pass on Allen, so it is possible the quarterback gets his wish. source: rotoworld

Trey sprained his knee at the end of last season at the Q losing to the Zips. I spoke with him briefly after the game, he seems like a great representative of MAC basketball. Glad to see he is healthy and doing well. I posted this once, but it's worth posting again, CNN story about Trey in high school. If you follow him on Instagram, you can view more of the same kindness.

Chase is promoted to special teams coordinator. The Carolina Panthers’ staff shakeup continued this week when the team did not renew the contract of special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey, according to team sources. The Panthers will promote Chase Blackburn, the former Giants and Panthers linebacker who assisted McGaughey the past two seasons.
