Might be easier to list the freshman that have played this year. Then you can assume the rest would red shirt, that is, unless they play yet this year.

Since we are on a buy week and discussion is somewhat slow...have you guys (people not actually on campus often) seen this ?!?One of the largest wall banners ever hoisted in Ohio adorns the east side of the Stile Athletics Field House. The Roo Town banner is 12,500 square feet and visible from more than two miles away. Made of a polymer mesh and weighing in at a whopping three quarters of a ton, the sign is secured to the building’s support beams with stainless steel brackets and aircraft cabling. Repros Inc. of Cleveland said the banner is the largest it has made and one of the most complex, requiring two days for a com! plete installation. Thanks to special UV-resistant inks, however, the banner will last for several years. That's pretty impressive !

Good scoop, but how did you obtain the photo? Looks like coach is growing. -

And in this photo Rogers isn't looking at coach. Doesn't mean anything. Although....Which one of these guys in this photo just got done with a big thanksgiving meal right before practice? And is coach using golf scorecards to right his plays on? Maybe this is our problem? Put away the 5W and bring out the driver coach! And what is CJ7 writing on his wrist bands (new 50 cent lyrics),and why is his finger wrapped? These photos pose so many questions.

I think we blitz 8% of the time. I like a defense that puts pressure on the QB. I don't give a sh*t what you call it.

If the Zips have another losing season, should JD be fired?
Dr Z replied to InTheZone's topic in Akron Zips Football
Me either!!!! I skip right over any poster doing so. How many years before this stops here? The simple answer to the posted question is "no"A better question would be, what can JD do to get fired in the next three years, because economically nothing he does in the next two will get him fired. The haters should root for him to succeed and move on, that is the only way he is leaving soon. This has got to be my last comment on this subject for a month. I'm done. -
You ask for the last big upset, I give it to you. That's all I know man.

Way back in October of 2006.

False start - any player moves after they have gotten in their set position before the snap in a way that simulates the start of the play.Illegal motion - a player in motion is moving forward at the time of the snap. I haven't seen any advantage to doing this. Seems like it causes more confusion to me.

Where does this calling the play from the sideline originate from?Is this Moorehead's idea?

I'm with you, give me FB in that situation. Odd side night, I went to Jason Taylor's game yesterday. His team does the same thing Akron does with third and short. Amazingly it worked on every occasion without passing once.

Zips not as sharp this week. Spend too much time watching ESPN's top plays this week.Squeak by with a win 24-20. Trap game (I hear that 50 times a week now on ESPN so I'll say it)Weather will provide us some good tailgating

Western Michigan also sent tape to the MAC of Akron's previous touchdown. The video showed the Zips' left guard and left tackle moving before the football was snapped, which is a false-start penalty under the rules.Complaining about a false start? You have GOT to be kidding me. Did the Zips hold at any time during the game? Better get some tape of that too. While your at it, I'm sure somebody had their shirt untucked. I lost a lot of respect for WMU.

I think you can get pressure on the QB with a good scheme. Look at the Steelers. There is no one particular "pass rusher"on that team. They get good pressure on the QB by overloading. With the talent in Akron's secondary, I don't see why we can't accomplish the same thing. When Akron has tried to send more than the O-line can block this year, their spacing and timing seem awful.I think the blitz package needs some serious help regardless of 3-3-5, 3-4 or 4-3.

On board.Temple (1-5, 1-2 MAC) at Akron (3-3, 2-0 MAC), 6:00 pm ETSite: Rubber BowlSeries: Temple leads 9-7 (Last meeting: Akron 25, Temple 15 in 1999).Outlook: Somewhere in Akron, in the vicinity of the football program, somebody has an angel sitting on their shoulder. The Zips have been the absolute kings of miracle MAC comebacks with last week's thrilling 39-38 last second win over Western Michigan just being the most recent example. In 2006 the Zips pulled out a 20-17 over North Carolina State on a last-second one-yard TD run; in 2005 the Zips captured the MAC Championship in a 31-30 win over Northern Illinois on a touchdown pass with ten seconds remaining and the year before that, in 2004, Akron scored 17 points in a span of two minutes to down Marshall 31-28. It also helped last week that the Zips may have found a regular starter at QB in Chris Jacquemain who threw for 389 yards and four TD's while WR Jabari Arthur chipped in with a school-record 15 receptions for 223 yards and three touchdowns. Temple also was the beneficiary of some late game heroics, winning 16-15 last week over Northern Illinois when Jake Brownell connected on a 39-yard field goal with nine seconds remaining. The Owls failed to score an offensive touchdown in their historic, first-ever MAC victory, as Terrance Knightron recorded the Owls' only touchdown on a 66-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Temple QB Adam DiMichele continues to be a steadying influence for the Owls offense and contributed 257 total yards. The Owls' defense has also shown marked improvement over last season and ranks second in the MAC, allowing 377.8 yards per game.Prediction: Akron 45, Temple 17.

Maybe this guy can get one right this week. Temple @ Akron - GAME NOTES:Both teams are coming off last-second wins, with Akron’s 39-38 triumph at Western Michigan came on the last play of the game ... Temple won its first-ever MAC game as Jake Brownell kicked a 39-yard field goal with nine seconds left for a 16-15 win over Northern Illinois ... Akron scored on an 89-yard combined free kick return by Alphonso Owen (11 yards) and Andre Jones (78 yards) ... Zips QB Chris Jacquemain completed 23-of-41 pass attempts for 389 yards and four TDs for his best game as a starter ... Jabari Arthur caught a school-record 15 passes for 223 yards and three TDs (7, 35 and 51 yards) ... Temple won last week despite not scoring an offensive TD ... the Owls lone TD came on a 66-yard return of a fumble by Terrance Knighton ...Knighton leads the MAC with three fumble recoveries ... QB Adam DiMichele provided the offense with 202 passing yards (18-of-32) and 55 rushing yards (14 carries) ... DiMichele ranks fifth in the MAC in pass efficiency (127.2) with 111-of-185 (60.0 percent) completions for 1,317 yards, 9 TDs and 8 interceptions ... Temple ranks second in the MAC in total defense (377.8 ypg allowed), which is an improvement of 75 ypg from last year.Nick’s Pick: Akron 23 – Temple 17Line: Akron by 10Comment: While just 1-5, Temple is showing signs of improvement and are no longer an easy “W.” Akron seems to have a lucky charm inside their helmets as they have stolen wins against Western Michigan and Can't State thus far. Akron’s offense is better than Temple’s and the Zips should be able to hold off a late Owl rally and get their 4th win of the season.

Chris Jacquemain is 4th in the MAC with a 87.8 QB rating.Leaders in the nationJabari is 6th in the NATION in receiving yards.
