Good points made Uakronkid, and I think its important to find a nice balance. Winning also goes a long way in motivating a team. While I dunno that we should load up on "cupcakes", perhaps some "cupcakes with sprinkles" would fit in nicely. By this I mean some teams that we should be able to beat, yet will give us a college level game and perhaps draw in some extra interest. Also, if we can start negotiating with a few of the big boys it'd be nice to have a few visit our house. I would think that would help to bring in some extra fans, and when we win they will keep coming back for more. We don't wanna play all our "real competition" on the road and save our home games for "cupcakes with sprinkles" and "less than big MACS" heres what I'm sayin...11/15 CAN W 56-46 <----start the season off with a win to boost confidence (no games mind you) 11/18 WIN W 72-58 <---- let the competition heat up a little (ex. To be honest, and I think many would agree with me on this: The soccer team deserves attention first. Despite this, there will be many who question any action taken strictly on the basis that we are spending money. It is a difficult...no impossible balance for any University, or city to budget their money in a way that will make everyone happy. Many investments (such as a new stadium) may show no short term benefit, yet have the potential to reap numerous rewards (as we all know). So yea, in summary the majority of the excess money (if we have any) should go into showin some love to our soccer team. I have a limited knowledge of the smaller Akron sports such as rifle, but imagine they should be on the short list as well. Then maybe followed by some major basketball tune-ups. But still I dream...oh and for all you number lovers out there...there are at least a couple here though it is from 2005, some are quite interesting

I thought about posting this earlier in the year, but decided to save this for another post (and this seems as good as any). I remember towards the end of the season there was a game when all the frats and sororities were in attendance...well for half the game at least. Shouldn't frats be more into their school sports teams? Can't they create a little competition between themselves to get into the game? I dunno just thoughts...anyone in a frat have any opinions?

I can see why many would think the time to act is now, we have so much momentum going forward. Yet we have a new football stadium that is receiving criticism as it is, and there is no way a new arena will happen in the next few years. People would complain that we are holding classes in closets while our sports teams get new facilities every twenty years. With that said, however, I too dream. (The Lebron Center) The previous year I lived in the quaker square dorms and it felt as close as could be. A state of the art downtown arena to me seems great in the sense that it will bring the community, students, and businesses into the heart of the city. Can't imagine it would save money in the short term, but in the long run I can see it being a huge boost. Maybe the JAR could undergo renovations to become an ice rink? There is no way this would happen in the next 5 years, but I think it'd be awesome.

I could go on writing page after page of good memories the zips have provided. THIS SEASON has been one heck of a ride and in the end I am so proud to be a zip. As a second year zips fan, my obsession has only grown and I am not sure what I will do while I wait for next season. Seems we are always thinking of next year, but you have shown us what makes Akron basketball a head above the rest. Your dedication, heart, and love of the game is evident every time you put foot on the basketball court. No matter what the paper, television, or awards say...you guys are the best! Nate, you have been a spark to this explosive team and you will be missed deeply. Keep the foot on the accelerator guys. Train hard, and surprise the world again (and you know what that means). We're no Gonzaga... cus skies the limit. Make it known throughout the nation, we're Akron! Lets go zips!

What an exciting game! I really couldn't ask for more. The first half made me wonder if I was dreaming, yet in the end when I woke up I knew we have lots good times ahead. Tough to see any loss, but I can imagine it will make us that much stronger. The team prolly doesn't feel finished either

Was cheering for ya UB, gonna be a tough battle but I don't count us out for a second. Lets go zips!

A lot has to be said about "growing as a team" and "fighting for each and every win". Id put this Akron team up against anyone believing that they had a shot at the victory. This team is all heart, and who knows...sometimes that's what's more important.WOOOOOOOOOO GO ZIPPPPPSS!!!!As a famous man once said, winning is 50% talent, 50% luck.Lol don't make me check your references on that..who is this famous mystery man?"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity"Winning is what happens when the zips believe and play to their potential

I just want all of our future opponents to be as tired as possible. So... go Overtime!I agree, and I would thoroughly enjoy giving Can't the knockout punch they deserve in a round three mac finals showdown (figuratively of course Mr Singletary)I would prolly have to find some boxing gloves to wear to that game tho...hmmmLets Go Zips!PS. I said Id be watching the game on TV but I might make the trip up anyway. Dunno if I should risk hurting my GPA when I have a test the next morning and a paper due......you know what screw it I'll be there. Besides with an AK win I'll be up all night anyway.

Has the result of this game drawn much publicity? Maybe it was just an emotional night but this was one of the best games I have ever listened to, yet it was second to Can't's close victory in the Akron Beacon Journal. Am I blinded by my emotions...hatred for Can't...or just wrong?Though a poor showing for the Zips, and a free throw contest gone wrong, how can this not be the top sports story in the akron beacon?

love this pic...bout sums that up
