  1. Absolutely embarrassing. Should not be in a dog fight with an FCS team.
  2. Why not go for 2? Being up by 5 doesn't mean a damn thing.
  3. I guess we take solace knowing JMU beat West Virginia a few year ago but this still stinks. I will admit - with PSU being ineligible for bowl games, all my funds stashed away for bowl games is being devoted to the Zips.
  4. Akron offense - 4th down, 31 to go. Doesn't get much more pathetic than that.
  5. Man, this defense is porous. Hard to imagine these kids are D-1 worthy... JMU running backs and running roughshod over them UP THE MIDDLE. Come on man... that doesn't happen until late in the 3rd quarter in BIG TEN GAMES.
  6. Terry Bowden's pants are, like, 6 inches below below his nipples. We need someone young to coach this team and attract some talent instead of Terry who rides his daddy's coattails.
  7. Uh, well, in my defense I turned the game off after Akron's 3 and out to start their first offensive series. Not sure how much more I can protest... new stadium, new coach with a big name, shitty, shitty players.
  8. 1st offensive play? 11 yard sack. Wow. Oline sucks too apparently.
  9. But does Akron enrollment go anywhere with a one-and-done in the tournament? We get national exposure but does the beatdown actually make people go "WTF - Akron sucks?" I would think any news is good news but maybe I'm wrong...
  10. The announcers were complete a$$holes during the entire game. They showed Akron zero respect and actively rooted for VCU. I put it on mute after the first half. The NCAA should be ashamed that they let grown men just essentially mock a team that, despite the score, was trying very hard and worked the whole season to play the game. I watched a bit of the Syracuse/Montana game and there was nothing but respect for Montana even though they were blown out worse than we were. The team and fans watching knew they were getting beat; it was inexcusable for them to rub salt in the wound during a COLLEGE tournament. Sorry, hijacked the conversation but had that on my mind since Thursday...
  11. Your reply is exactly the sort of "response gauge" I had in mind when I started the topic. There's a lot of "faux negativity" around here (that is, comments that I don't necessarily see as negative being portrayed as such by other commentators) that leads me to be believe that it's okay not to be satisfied with the season's results (although I do think you'd be a fool to not be proud of these guy!!). I loved every minute of the MAC tournament and looked forward to all our regular season games. I admit, I think I got a bit of false hope after seeing the team respond to AA's suspension in the MACC and thought we had a legitimate chance against VCU but I'm still extremely proud of the team and being able to hang another banner in the JAR next season.
  12. Thanks, but I'm not actually referring to Dambrot or his staff. Merely asking if Akron, given its place in the MAC, should be satisfied with "just" making the tournament itself. Again, I'm thrilled that we were crowned MAC champs (both regular season and tournament) and think getting there is a great boost for the school. Curious to know everyone's thoughts.
  13. Wanted to gauge everyone's expectations/feelings with regards to being a "every few years" kind of team with regards to making the NCAA tournament. To be honest, considering the MAC is fairly weak, I find it a pretty nice accomplishment "just to get there." Would I like to win a game at some point? Of course; but I'm not going to cry because we lost (I might cry because of how badly we lost but that's another story). This has nothing to do with Dambrot - I still really like and respect him both as a coach and a person so this isn't a "should we sh*tcan Dambrot" thread. I'm just curious if I'm the only out there who thinks just getting into the NCAA tournament is a reward in it of itself and that it's basically "bonus season" for the Zips after all the MACtion is over with.
  14. Meanwhile, Shaka doesn't call off the dogs. I don't understand the Smart/Dambrot relationship. I would NEVER run up the score on my "mentor." The NCAA tournament isn't aggregate scoring. Losing a LOT of respect to Shaka Smart tonight...
  15. Wow... I admit I missed the 1st half of the game (used to central time zone... forgot what time the game was on since I traveled to East coast for the weekend). Damn. OU looks like sh*t!!
  16. Disagree. High expectations, yes. Unprecedented media attention? Maybe a week ago. Since the loss at Buffalo, Akron's just another mid-major having a decent season. They're not getting national attention anymore. This story isn't even on ESPN anywhere. Twitter may be "abuzz" right now but don't forget how much attention Anne Hathaway's nipples were getting two Sundays ago. Now they're just a footnote in Oscars history. My point is that tomorrow night's game will be treacherous but come the tournament, you'd better be damned sure KD will have this team in the mindset to win without Abreu. This team is more than just one player.
  17. I think you quoted the wrong guy but $100,000 says PSU still wins more games over the next 3 years than Akron does. Also, I still cheer for Akron against every other team in existence other than PSU (but only in football... I actively cheered for them against PSU basketball earlier this season). But nice job on the pedophile joke - haven't heard that before.
  18. Yeah, but for a team like the Zips, does a 13 seed have that much of a difference in potential upset possibility over a 12 seed? When we win out, I predict an 11 seed, especially if it comes down to the Zips and the Bobcats in the MACC. I'm looking forward to 2 big wins to close out the regular season right now!!
  19. Well, in all fairness, it's tough for me to watch a lot of Zips football games down here in Houston and I do actually watch the ones that occasionally get broadcasted but man, it's hard to watch. I also follow my college undergrad (PSU) closer than my law school (UA) so there's always a bit of overlap.
  20. You better believe they'll use it as a wakeup call. Zeke doesn't want to roll over in his senior year. I feel bad for Miami on Tuesday. I feel a steamroll coming on...
  21. Woah - no. Dear God I do not even want to think about having to watch a UA football game. Actually, the UA basketball team would probably beat the UA football team AT FOOTBALL.
  22. I know this is going to sound like rationalizing but seriously - lose now, lose all the pressure around the streak, and go into the tournament with less "national" pressure!! I mean, UB is getting ridiculously bad calls to put them on the line and they won't get those in Cleveland. Hell, they won't even be matched up against UA in Cleveland so who cares. We all knew it would come down to the tournament back in November and we shouldn't be mad now. This team is still built to roll in the postseason. Let's see them thrive in the tournament in a few weeks!!
