Zips black uniforms will be made available
cjapsu replied to GeorgeThomasABJ's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Definitely hoping for an online ordering system soon - can't quite make it back from Houston for the game tomorrow -
Up by 3 with 4 minutes left? Obviously the best time to just start jacking up 3-pointers with 34 seconds left on the shot clock.
-
Yeah - this is pretty bad... they seemed anemic against Ball State but I thought it was just them looking ahead to this game. HOWEVER, I will say that it seems like Can't State just flat out got hot and went on a run the last 5 minutes. Abreu's obviously forcing it and taking bad looks trying to get his first points.
-
Okay - so this is the first time I've been able to watch the Zips on TV down here in Houston... have we been this bad on the defensive boards all year or is it just this game far? Can't State's getting second, third, fourth, and a couple of times, fifth chances to put it in the bucket. Thankfully their shooting has been atrocious but this is just mind-boggling how we can't come up with some of these d-rebounds.
-
Logistically speaking, when would the tournament have to start to accomplish this by, let's say, the next school year? December?
-
Volunteers are 35 point favorites. That seems a bit excessive to me but we'll see what happens when the Zips visit an SEC team under the lights. I'd hope they can keep it at least competitive for a half or so.
-
ESPN says it's on ESPN3... I guess we can rely on that?
-
I'm both a Zips fan and a PSU fan. I'll root for Penn State over Akron in football and women's volleyball. I root for Akron men's basketball and men's soccer over Penn State. All other sports are determined by current ranking and schedules but quite frankly, who cares about any other sports?
-
Well - we've all successfully gotten WAAAAY ahead of ourselves... how about beating Morgan State next weekend, eh?
-
And that's fine. I'm perfectly okay with this comment - I disagree that they'll be irrelevant for a full 10 years but yes, clearly they have an uphill battle. To say they'll "disappear" from college football forever is downright ignorant. To be honest again, though, IU and Minnesota would beat the current iteration of the Zips. Here's hoping Bowden gets some good recruits in the coming years!! I would love for them to beat PSU en route to a berth in the Pizza Bowl or whatever in 2014!
-
I'm a Zips alum (law school) and root like hell for the Zips but as a Penn State undergrad that comment infuriates me and I hope we beat the crap out of the Zips. We just got crushed by UCF. OU is a lot better than the Zips. I hope Terry recruits some damn good players in the coming year and I'd love to see the Zips return to the postseason but Christ almighty... the Zips just had a transfer go TO the Nittany Lions at wide receiver. Penn State will be down for a long time, don't get me wrong. But to think they'll never be back is a joke. USC had similar sanctions for 2 years and the first year they were bowl eligible they're ranked #1 in the AP poll. Do I think that'll happen to Penn St? Of course not. But to think they're gone forever is laughable.

I have to drive to Austin this weekend so hopefully I'll be able to check out the game somewhere... I'm glad I'll be able to potentially watch the game elsewhere that on my computer screen.
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembered that game immediately. I lived in Chagrin Falls at the time and braved a few snow squalls to get to Akron in time for tipoff. What a TERRIBLE game that was... not a lot of guys on the team left from that year but I'm hoping the ones left are fired up for a bit of revenge.

Zips v WVU on Directv Channel 659 for those...
cjapsu replied to mivid12's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Root Sports Pittsburgh? Sort of a random channel but I'll take it! -
Can someone explain to me the format of this tournament? Even though Akron beat Miss. St., I see that Miss. St. automatically gets a berth in the quarterfinals in MSG. So is our participation in the tournament just a "thanks for coming but don't hope to win a trophy" kind of thing? On a side note, does anyone know if any of the other tournament games will be televised? I see on the tournament's website that "HLN" is broadcasting some of them but that just doesn't seem right...
-
A solid win... unfortunately I don't get to watch anymore games on TV until January... hopefully they'll keep winning and force STO or someone to start showing the games (or at least ESPN3).
-
Sweet merciful Jesus... could someone please enlighten me as to why EVERY SINGLE STO broadcast is blacked out on DirecTV? At first I thought it was just a fluke thing about rights for a few games here and there but it's now regressed into EVERY game! I try not to flip out over too many blackouts, but I can't for the life of me figure out why Akron basketball is blacked out consistently on STO. I can watch Alaska-Anchorage take on North Dakota in hockey but can't watch Akron/Ball State? WTH?
-
Down 11 late in the 1st quarter... if we can get to within 5 at the half, I like our odds. If Miami increases their lead by the half, I'm not going to pay attention to this team until it's time for the tournament.
-
What were you referring to? However, a BS around the rim and in three... Yeah, the basketball gods are against us today - we have no hope if the ball continues to bounce nowhere but Buffalo's way. Retarded 3s bouncing forty times and then going in and missed free throws that are bouncing directly into Buffalo's hands.
-
I pay out my a$$ for the sports package on DirecTV so naturally it's blacked out down here in Houston, TX. Absolutely no reason for it to be, either.
-
Vegas has us at 9 point favorites. Let's hope Stetson doesn't get close to covering the spread.
-
I'm assuming there'll be no TV for any of these games in Vegas...

Will any Zips fans be making the 1,300 mile journey to Texas A&M in December? I'm asking as I'm an '08 Law School alum who moved to Houston after graduating and am planning on taking the hour drive up to College Station to see my beloved Zips! It will be the first time seeing them play in person in a while, so I'm psyched about the game.I'm also worried about getting harassed, since Aggies are incredibly loyal fans (I work with a bunch of them). Nice, but loyal. Anywho, if anyone's planning on making the trek, let me know and we can at least arrange to sit somewhere in aggregate at the very least.

cjapsu replied to hoohoohoosiers's topic in Akron Zips Football
14 seconds. That's how long it took for a Big Ten opponent to beat us down.Awesome.
