  1. They had no problem switching Pohl for Woodson and then switch back to Pohl, but you won't give Pohl a chance? Yeah, that's great locker room dynamics SMH. This team is looking for a spark. That could be it. If the coaching staff isn't motivated to win every down, quarter, half, and game, then why should the players?!?!?!?!?!?!??!
  2. Pohl would have executed that throw
  3. Coaching staff being stubborn. They kept Stein on the sideline, and look how that hurt us early on in the Penn State game. Now Pohl is being kept on the sideline, while we blow another winnable game.
  4. On the road with a backup quarterback, and you have him throw it 40+ times? I'm sorry, but that's not balanced. Bowden says he wants a balanced attack, but how can you have one when you're not calling a balanced one? There is no excuse that Hundley and Chisholm can't get yards. Even if it doesn't work at times, you can't throw it away and go pass all the time. All those passes stopped the clock on the incomplete passes which meant our defense had the possibility for being on the field for long periods of time and being worn down. This game is strictly on Coach Bowden and Coach Milwee.
  5. For anyone wanting to see highlights of these freshmen, here's some I found: Megan Sefcik Alli Ball https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8IIpmK0c4Q Kerri McMahan (Couldn't find any basketball related video) http://highschoolsports.mlive.com/news/article/-7353301790799097236/novi-beats-rival-northville-43-27-in-girls-basketball-as-kerri-mcmahan-takes-over-second-half/ Greta Burry (#33 purple in video freshmen yr) Lauren Hung Kaitlyn Flowers http://lompocrecord.com/sports/high-school/basketball/flowers-battles-back-from-injury/article_1dc301e6-75c8-11e3-a28f-0019bb2963f4.html (great article) http://santamariatimes.com/sports/high-school/basketball/kaitlyn-flowers-heading-to-akron/article_80915c5b-3be6-52c7-82de-c6ffd300aebf.html (great article)
  6. From what I know, Sina King has been looking really good in practice so far. She's THE leader of this team. There's other players coming back that didn't get the quality minutes like Cassell, Luburgh, Tecca, and Young did last season, but still got a good chunk of minutes and were productive. Roster breakdown(* next to my projected starters) : Seniors(1) : Sina King* Juniors(5) : Megan Barilla, Anita Brown*, Therany Dunnigan, DiAndra Gibson*, Katie Nunan* Sophomores(4) : Hannah Plybon*, Alex Ricketts, Hannah Scipio, Sophia Simone Freshmen(6) : Alli Ball, Greta Burry, Kaitlyn Flowers, Lauren Hung, Kerri McMahan, Megan Sefcik, I think this team will have growing pains, but they'll still finish in top half of the MAC. Do I see them repeating as MAC Tournament Champs? Of course not. But I think they could spoil it for a couple teams. I think Plybon will start at PG. Barilla may start the season at PG, but I think Plybon will eventually take over the starting PG position and Barilla will provide a spark off the bench. I have Brown at the 2, Gibson at the 3, King at the 4, and Nunan at the 5. If you're looking for players that nobody really knows anything about that could make a big impact on this team, I'll give you four names. Personally, I think anyone on this roster that's a sophomore or freshmen can surprise people, these are the four I believe have the best chance this season to have a big impact. Alex Ricketts, Hannah Scipio, Alli Ball, and Kerri McMahan. I think Hung, Sefcik, Burry, and Simone can contribute as well, but as in for an entire season, these may be the best bets. Didn't know about Flowers until a week ago, so I'll have to see her a little bit more to know what she can contribute to the program, but this team is definitely not low on talent. It's all up to the coaching staff now to develop them, and I don't know anyone I trust more than Coach Kest & staff.
  7. Didn't we start the season 1-0? Doesn't that count as "above .500"? So answer would be 2014.
  8. I know it's not Zips soccer, but it wouldn't surprise me if some of these players turn into Zips so that's why I am sharing this: http://www.nscaatv.com/rankings/3420/Fall/men/National/Poll4 If you haven't seen Copley play, I recommend seeing them play. I went to their game at St. Ignatius(it was #1 vs #3 in DI) and they won 2-0 on St. Ignatius's field. They are well-coached and playing well right now. Here's a little more about the #1 team in the state and #8 in the nation : http://usatodayhss.com/2014/09/boys-soccer-copley-dominating-opponents-with-attacking-style
  9. Last time I knew Rachel Tecca is doing great in Iceland, and Hanna Luburgh has started a blog talking about how each day is going for her in Poland. Just in case anyone wants to stay up to date how her pro career is going, here is her blog: http://hluburgh14.weebly.com/

  10. Good drive, and glad Pohl took a sack instead of forcing a throw and a turnover. Any points is good points, which is why I don't understand why you put a freshman kicker in this environment. Has Stein really regressed that much!?!?!??!?!
  11. It's Game Day!!!!!! I would like a win, but a close game in that environment would tell me that we will be good enough to compete for the MAC East title this season and a bowl game. Penn State 34 Akron 28
  12. I wonder what connection, if any, the guy that picked Akron has with the MAC. It just seems weird seeing a "Big Ten" writer picking all 3 MAC teams to beat Big Ten teams in the same week. That's all. He has CMU beating Purdue, NIU beating Northwestern, and Akron beating Penn State. Could be a big week for the MAC!
  13. When watching this, I can tell Penn State will be more prepared for us than Coach Hoke and Michigan were last season. Starting at 2:15 is the Akron talk
  14. I may be mistaken, but is 18:40 mark of this video the "new uniform"?
  15. As I find these videos and articles about the freshmen, I'll post them on here. An Akron freshman is #1 on this list
  16. Oops, I was thinking of a different sport. Thanks, Z.I.P. Still no confirmation if Florida Gators were one, but all they said was "recruited by Florida". Could be just Florida in general, which could have been numerous schools. I do know for a fact though that she had several Big Ten schools that were looking forward to her commitment to their school. I've seen her a couple times the past few seasons, and I can say that she is quicker than what you may think by highlight videos. I see her being the replacement for Kelly DeNiro. That's the role I see her in. That attacking midfielder role.
  17. Sophomore season at Louisville(2012) : Junior season at Louisville(2013) :
  18. Here's the commit: #10 Rachel Baughman, Louisville High School, Class of 2015 http://www.wkyc.com/story/local/2013/09/26/3276503/ Highlight videos: International's U-15 Red: Freshman season at Louisville(2011) :
  19. Until I get confirmation that I can share it(which I expect in a matter of days), all I can say at this point is Coach Croft just got the program a top notch player in this class. Numerous power conference schools wanted this player, and I heard that one of them may have been the Florida Gators. Instead, she chose staying close to home(entering her senior year of high school 29 miles southeast of Akron) than to go to a big program. Great pickup by the Lady Zips. Once I get the word I can publicly say it, I will post her highlight videos of 2011, 2012, and 2013 seasons on here. Plus, I'll PM anyone that wants the schedule to check out her game and her high school team if you want to do so. Potentially, the best recruit Coach Croft has had since he was hired at Akron to replace Coach Pfau. Once again, great job by Coach Croft and the staff for getting this student athlete to stay in Northeast Ohio!!!!!!
  20. I think we'll see the recruiting classes getting better and better with the MAC Championship on resume for Kest and the rest of her staff now. That stability has really helped them. You'll only see the classes get better and better as long as the staff stays in tact.
  21. Very intriguing. Verbally committed to Butler, and then decided to change to Akron. Solid 5'10 player. For some reason, the article link won't work. Here's the story: BY Mark Kern, Northeast Ohio Media Group "CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio -- Walsh Jesuit girls basketball playerLilli Piper has decided to stay close to home to play her college basketball, as the senior will play her college basketball at Akron, according to her high school coach, Pete Zaccari. Last season, Piper averaged 12.3 points, 8.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists while helping the Warriors go 18-6 on the season. Piper had originally committed to Butler last season, but changed her mind and will now play her college basketball only 15 minutes away from her high school. Piper was not immediately available when contacted."
  22. Oh okay. I figured that year counted against her due to the transfer. I'll make the change.
  23. I figured to get a little scholarship chart going on here for the Lady Zips program. I apologize about the title. Meant to type "Lady Zips 2014-2015 and Beyond". Sina King Guard/Foward Senior 6'0 Waterford, OH Therany Dunnigan Forward Junior 6'2 Cleveland, OH Megan Barilla Guard Junior 5-10 Fairview Park, OH Anita Brown Guard Junior 5-8 Warren, OH DiAndra Gibson Guard/Forward Junior 5-11 Ravenna, OH Katie Nunan Forward Junior 6-0 Fairmont, WV Alex Ricketts Guard Sophomore 5-11 Mercer, PA Hannah Plybon Guard Sophomore 5-9 Orrville, OH Sophia Simone Forward Sophomore 5-11 Silver Lake, OH Hannah Scipio Guard Sophomore 5-4 New Albany, OH Incoming Class: Alli Ball Forward Freshman 6-1 St. Louis, MO Greta Burry Forward Freshman 6-1 Cleveland, OH Lauren Hung Guard Freshman 5-8 Waterford, MI Kerri McMahan Point Guard Freshman 5-10 Novi, MI Megan Sefcik Guard Freshman 5-10 Austintown, OH I came across this tweet a couple days ago, and not sure if one of the current Zips left the program. My guess was Coach Jackson was talking about a future class, not adding to this one. https://twitter.com/CoachJackson21/status/488345595434639362
  24. Unless Can't State has a colossal 9th inning collapse, It will be #4 Can't State vs #7 Akron in the MAC Championship with one game to decide it all. Noon start.
  25. Hoping for WMU to win game #1 today...that way no matter who we play tomorrow, we'll have two chances to win the MAC Championship
