I watched every minute of the Mich VCU game and was cheering for Michigan. No matter what anyone says, in my opinion, class coaches do not run up the score to their own end. It back fired this time. I was cheering for 40 points difference. Zips are the best in my mind.

First Congratulations to the Zips for a wonderful season. I am sad for them as to how it ended, but it is just a game and life does move on. "maybe next year" I do think there needs to be some evalulating of the program as a whole, coaching, recruiting, training, teams that are played outside of MAC, etc. In the many years I have watched this team grow and develop and see real progress. ND in Chicago was a good game years ago and we had a much better team this year. My only question is why and how did this game get so out of hand? As a proud alumnus and my children, alumni, we will always back the students and their quest. Please do some soul searching as to why this happened

How did you get tickets for 100 I went on that sight and the cheapest was 213. We are waiting to see if we got tickets should know tomorrow. We may not go no place to stay When we went to Chicago we stayed in the same hotel as the team and it was great. They had a breakfast with the team etc. Guess they will not have that this time. as an aside. One of the espn announcers, ex coach, said he did not understand how VCU got in the tournament. Thought that was interesting. Saving my money to see the team in TX when they win Thurs and Sat. GO ZIPS!!!!
-
Has anyone checked the wins and loses for VCU. It is not that impressive at all. We almost beat OKST and that was early in the year. Then M Tenn. I hope with all my heart that they play as I have seen them play and spank VCU. They do not want on water as the TV guys would make you think. Like I had not doubt we would spank OU and I know we will VCU. GO ZIPS. Do your thing!!!

Hats off to this great team. What a championship looking team. EVERYONE gave it their all. That is what makes a great team. One for all and all for one. Melo was super. So much to learn in such a short period of time. You did yourself proud. Of course the bracketology keeps changing but now they have us playing Mich. Over the last two weeks I think they had us playing just about everyone. Hope to be at the Jar at 5 to see the happenings. GO ZIPS to the big DANCE!!

I beg to disagree. Alumnus and was sitting with alumni and we were shouting LOTS. In fact my alumnus son shouted as they throw a free throw. I said do you really think they can hear you? hahaha He said everyone should be quiet and just one person really scream. hahaha Just thought I would put my 2 cents in. GO ZIPS beat OU Keep the faith!!

I am really tired of hearing about the INVISIBLE DJ Cooper. He is but one player and they have no bench strenght at all. I have no doubt we will contain him and HIS team and win the championship. OU does not walk on water and tonight they will sink We have proven that the last two games against them GO ZIPS by the way the girls are doing an awesome job right now. They are project to win and in the baracketology slated to play PENN.
-
Was at the game, awesome. No question Zips can take OU. Cooper just needs to be challenged. melo is fast but Nick is agressive. I like what Melo is doing in such a short time, one week. He will go on to be a great player for the Zips. It is not lack of talent that will hurt them it will focus and getting their head in the game. The foul shots showed their head was not in the game. No excuse for the foul shooting other than concentration. I know they can win Go Zips, ladies and men!!!!!!!

I am concerned that we are not giving enough credit to the other 10 players. AA's efforts were on and off. One announcer said he does as much good as not so good. I have no doubt we will win this weekend, if they focus on the job at hand. Carmelo is a fine guard and he will do just fine if the team trusts him and hopefully that develops over this week of practice. To think there is a doubt that we can win because of AA, I just do not agree with it.

Yes, we do need a new "jar". But I believe that we need a new conference in which the Zips BB team can play in. Not a mid major conference, with well know teams would provide better competition and would also bring in more spectators. Not sure how many really want to see us play central michigan or N Ill. Do disrespect to those teams. IF we want to move forward we need to change a few things and a different conference would be a great beginning. Just a thought

\ I am in favor of carmelo starting. He really has a nice athletic look on the court. Expect big things from him in the future. One more thing, to the team I say focus focus focus. Bad things do happen and we have to rise above it if we want to succeed.. YOU will succeed because you have GRIT and CHARACTER I appreciate what KD said about AA and supporting him. That is his choice but right now it has to be focus on the MAC and ONLY the MAC Time for that later As a mental health professional and a loyal Zips fan----- JUST DO IT!!!!!!!! You have a Zips community behind you, all of you!
-
I am with you, the team needs to step up meet the challenge. Betencourt did I nice job tonight. Rebounds were a major problem and that has nothing to do with AA Lots of raw emotions coming through. This week needs to be one of coming together as a team and show the character they all have. Lots of heart at the end of the game, just came a little too late. Friday will be great, I will be there. GO ZIPS you have worked very hard not finish it off.

Keith Dambrot statement from UA news release
burrdie replied to GeorgeThomasABJ's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
It is great he is staying. My only concern is the attitude. WHY do we have to be the BEST MID Major. Why are we not shooting to be the best major? Am I missing something here? This is like the being the best of the worst No glory in that. I don't expect a Duke but why not aim higher than a mid major? Are we locked into be a mid major? Maybe I don't understand. -

I can hear the frustration of the zips fans loud and clear. But the season is over and now we need to start thinking positively about next season, what is done is done. Personally, I think we should ALL attend the dinner for this great team on April 12, I know I will be there. I don't think that negative thoughts are really good karma. Let's look forward to a great season with great players and give them our positive karma. We need to move on, at least that is how I see it and the way I am handling it. My heart went out to the players at the Q and NW, let's chalk it up to a learning experience to make them stronger and better. Go Zips!

I have mixed emotions regarding OU. It is nice to see a MAC team go this far. On the other hard, it should of been us. As for NC, I have a feeling that OU will take them. The blow of Marshall will also have psyhological impact for the team. They are ripe for picking. Interesting that on ESPN, they referred to OU as "street fighters". If they can get away with fouling they will be very agreesive. NC is not that agressive, they play a controlled game. I had OU for two backets but now I want them beat!! KD needs to let a little street fighting into our team. FIERCE! OU wants it really really bad and that makes up for a lot of mistakes in a game.
-
Just watched ESPN boy they sure went very quickly after OU game. Mich was the heir apparent and ESPN did not want to touch it so they quickly move on. NW got beat big time by Washington. Bracketology at school, right now I am 26 and 5. Had Duke for two spots never made it out of first bracket. As for respect, respect is earned. We have to keep working and working and working. NO let up IF they want the big dance. They have to decide if that is what they want or will settle for less. NOW that means, team, players AND coaches all have to want it so bad they can taste it. We are no where near that. BUT I have great hope for next year. Personally, I think PRico will be a good test to see if they CAN run with the big dogs. I happen to think they can. JUST DO IT! Zips.
-
FUTURE! I see a bright future for this team. They have to realized it first and then reach for the brass ring, the future will be bright and awesome. I am watching all the NCAA games and the one big thing I see is they give to it hurts and then keep giving. I mentioned this before and I will continue to suggest they keep working at accomplishing the gosls they set by giving all they have.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our wonderful team. It has been an awesome year and I have so enjoyed it, even the heartache because I know next season will be better than ever. I already am making plans to travel to PR for a short vacation in Nov. and watch them play ball. This was a learning year with young players who have to learn to play as a team, they are all so talented, every single one of you and don't you forget it. Summer will be here and you know they say PRACTICE makes perfect, so let's go for perfect next year. Thank you again for a great BB season. You are the and don't you forget it.
-
Zeke and the rest of the team could turn up the heat tonight. It really will come down to who wants the game badly enough to give everything they have and then more. Sometimes you have to give until it hurts and you cannot give anymore. Boy you watch those #1 seeds play and oh my it is like their guts are hanging out. I really applaud them as I do our great team Now is the time, JUST DO IT!

The Zips have to win tonight it is my 72nd birthday today so it has to be a lucky day. I could use a win for my Birthday!! I have them winning by 10 pts. If they give it their best they will win, if they don't they won't it is that simple. Late game, 9:00. I have to be up at 6 to be at school at 7 to give the OGT all week. Bummer. Will be a late night for me GO ZIPS BEAT NW
-
I find it interesting that we did not get home court, we are 5 and NW is 4? It could have been just the opposite. But of course NO big Ten team would come to Akron. That had to be fixed to some degree. I know I should bit my tongue but if OU really does well, maybe MAC will get more respect. GO ZIPS beat NW!
-
Yep at northestern. I have seen them play. They are ok nothing special. We can beat them. They have OU upsetting Michigan. I hope OU does, It may give the MAC more respect. Northwestern and then on to Washington, bummer. Won't be able to go to the games unitl MSG. GO ZIPS BEAT Northwestern.

I don't know where you were sitting, but the fans around us were great. People express themselves in different ways. Just because there is not a lot of yelling does not mean the fans were not with the team every minute of that game. I am a yeller but my son is quiet at times and yells at other times. I yell all the time. I would like to see more students at the home games. Large university like Akron should try to get the students more involved. But keep in mind how many sports there are to support. Being a golfer it was nice to see Amanda was 1 under par at the golf tournament. I am older much older than 50, a contributor and myself and children are all alumuni, we had nice seats. It was sad but fun at the same time. NOW it is time to support the team at the NIT. They gave us a great season and so much more to come in the following year. CONGRATUATIONS TEAM so get them at MSG.
-
It was a heartbreaker that is for sure. But I do believe everything happens for a reason. That last shot COULD have not gone in and been tipped by Zeke, it did not. Maybe we were meant to win the NIT or at least head to MSG. I know I will be there. I think we should concentrate on thanking this team for a wonderful season and oh my what a great season next year. NIT will give the guys more tournament experience for next year. They played their hearts out. I APPLAUD all of the players, GREAT JOB! Now on to the NIT, let's do it!
