  1. Don't take this as a jab against KD, but I don't think that he would have done much better had he taken that job.

Taking on a team as bad as Duquesne was, in a conference as competitive as the A10, I don't think even Phil Jackson could have won more in his first year.

I agree. I think his success early at UA was a result of the Joyce and Travis class and it helped build a successful program. It would be tough to get recruits to a school with a dying athletic program like Duquesne.

  2. I've always thought the O-H-I-O chant is uncreative and ironic. What happens when OhioU comes to town? Do they realize they are cheering for the opponent? Do they still have the band do the lame cursive Ohio on the field? My guess is the arrogant view from OSU fans and fake students is that MAC schools "aren't a real school" and "don't matter".

  3. Keep Tressel employed at UA for the next few years until his coaching suspension is lifted. Then hire him as the head coach. By then two things could happen 1) we suffer through more 1-win seasons and Bowden gets replaced 2) Less likely scenario, we improve as a program and Bowden moves on to a better gig. Either way I don't think Terry will be around for more than 4 years. Which I believe is the duration of Tressel's suspension? Winning coaches move on, losing coaches get let go.

  4. When asked a direct question from an out-of-town caller on the Big Time Sports show this afternoon on 1350 am, Joe Dunn said that the latest news HE had heard (and it was within the last week) is that they are reconsidering a JAR facelift which would improve the overall layout but only raise capacity by a couple hundred. Maybe they feel they should strike while the iron (and team) is hot to bide themselves a little time to work on funding for a long term solution?

Pointless. UA should not put another cent into the JAR. Unless they can add a couple thousand there is absolutely no reason to make any changes. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.

  5. Funny thing is by the time we get to Ohio U, we could have the second longest streak without even losing. We play one game bewteen now and the 27th (OU Game Day) and Memphis who has the second longest streak one game behind us, has three. If they win all theirs we'd need to beat OU just to tie them again. Please beat NDSU and have Ohio knock off Belmont. I want the game in Athens to be HUGE.

We've lost 3? in a row in Athens. Even last season after beating them at the JAR, we played awful the next matchup. I'd rather not have any more pressure on us.

  6. For weeks, and perhaps months, they've been telling themselves that this is all a fluke, and the zips are bound to lose. Yet it doesn't happen and their frustration is starting to boil.

Let's put it this way, if the zips weren't undefeated in MAC play, OU would be 10-1 (or perhaps even 11-0 considering their one loss is to Akron) and reveling in roll from last year back on top of the MAC again, claiming the need for national love and attention. They can't quite pull this off properly with Akron stealing the limelight.

I say, let's put some milk out for the poor kitty fans. They are teh sads.

I was actually thinking Grumpy Cat would be more fitting

  7. I think the Drexel 11-12 comparison is a perfect example of why we won't get an at-large. Finished the regular season with 5 losses, long winning streak, lost in conference tournament. We will most likely have the same results, but that's the MAC. Pretty pathetic that CMU and Miami are just as likely to make the NCAA tournament as the Zips.

  8. Keep beating up that straw man. The majority of our fanbase wants a MAC Championship and some NCAA wins. I don't see many fans(anyone?) seriously predicting an elite 8 run or buckeye "domination".

Nobody has said that around here. OhioU fans have been fabricating our "claims" for the entire season. Every college team should have a goal to win a championship. If not what's the point of playing the game? Nobody is predicting postseason success, just setting goals for a team. At the end of the day I'd rather spend my time being a fan of my team, the Zips, while other schools can bash us all they want. Just shows a lot about their character...There are even a few screwballs on twitter who have been bashing us for weeks.

  9. Not sure if it was mentioned but did anyone see KD furious at the end of the first half? All I remember was him sprinting across the floor and yelling at someone. Maybe it was because they gave up the 3 at the buzzer? or Chauncey for yelling into the crowd after he hit the 3?

  10. I like the idea of breaking the game into segments and grading the players on how they do in each segment. It may help the players focus better on each of the elements being graded, and resetting the grading clock every 4 minutes helps keep them from losing track of what they're supposed to be doing.

Honestly though I feel like the problem of this team is they only play hard for short segments of the game. They haven't really played a complete game all year. Wouldn't the segment approach just make this trend worse?
