Wouldnt mind playing Georgetown. Definitely a team we can upset (though I believe if we are at full strength we can upset anybody). OU upset them a few years ago in the tourney.

lol. you are making more of it than what it is. The issue here is that the students dont know. I was a rowdy last year, was intending to this year, but i just never got around to signing up. I still attend many games though, and have never sat down low. Why? because the first I've heard about getting a wristband to sit down low is on this forum, yesterday. If somebody who attends a majority of the games doesnt know how to be able to sit down low, how do you expect the casual student fan to know?

I attend as many games as I can because I'm a huge basketball, and sports fan in general. The issue I have is that its hard to find people to go with. Most of my friends arent into sports all that much. I think promotions like free food/t-shirts will get your average student in the game. They do it for football, why not basketball(where the product is actually decent)? When cheerleaders or dance team throw out shirts and the taylor made jewelry whatever, they throw it to the sides 95% of the time, like the average fan is more important than the students. Do some stuff for the students that make them feel wanted and have fun and more of the average fans will come. Something I notice is that there is not much support from the other student athletes.

So wait..show what OSU fan on here is being annoying and obnoxious? Also, if you have a problem with OSU FANS, why do you let it cloud your judgement of Tressel? I guess liking the Jim Tressel hire is annoying and obnoxious. I'd consider myself a diehard fan. I had a cousin who played for OSU (Brian Hartline). I've done OSU classwork. I've even forked over money to go out to Pasadena and watch OSU win a Rose Bowl. I'd do the same damned thing with Akron as well. ? Who is saying "Akron sucks" and "Akron doesnt count"? You, my friend, are the delusional one.

yep. Dont throw stones in a glass house. Also, read an article the other day where Bowden wants Akron to be #1 on the totem pole in Ohio...behind Ohio State. How do some of you feel about that comment?

I'm in the belief that no school is truly "clean" (even Akron). Its a matter of how severe and how bad the NCAA/ESPN wants to nail you depending on whether you get caught or not. Who cares what the nation thinks of Tressel? The only people who matter are the ones who he is trying to raise money for our University from. And he will probably do a better job than well...just about anybody else that we could have stuck it that position. PS- What OSU did is nothing compared to Auburn, Alabama, and Oregon have all done recently. They havent been caught because of ESPN's bias of the south and the money that comes along with Mr. Knight at Oregon. If you havent heard of these, check em out. Also, you guys make it out that Tressel is some POS scum of the earth. How about you take your anti-OSU glasses off and look at all the good he has done. His players got tattoos(something he had no involvement in).Big whoop. He withheld information from the NCAA. The IRS was investigating that tattoo parlor, and Tressel was told not to release any information. Yea..that is as bad as paying somebody 200k to come play for them. Who are you going to be more afraid of..the Federal government or NCAA? I think the answer is pretty obvious.

Clemson had a commit switch to Auburn on national signing day. His reasoning was that there was no chick-fil-a near campus, and you had to drive 15 minutes to go somewhere to eat. (Chick-Fil-A isnt 1000ft from them football stadium and there are plenty of restaurants by campus)

umm what? He has a name. His job is to raise money. He is going to have more success than "Joe Akron" at raising money. He is one of the most influential people in Ohio Also, FWIW, Bowden basically said the same exact thing when he was hired. Where is the thread about how long he will be here? Having Tressel (Bowden as well) is great for the University. Who cares where he has been or what he has done. Get over it and be glad.

Actually about Commack, a lot of players who have already graduated and have an extra year of eligibility dont necessarily get athletic scholarships do they? On OSU boards when Wagner was of interest, they said they wouldnt have to burn a scholly on him, but just give him some academic scholarships instead. I would be thankful if somebody can confirm whether he is coming or not. Very curious.

Jim Tressel doesn't need Akron to get his name in the press..come on man.
