  1. I do not specifically recall the 1978 match, but I was probably present. It is tough to remember when Indiana was not good. I, for one, cannot. I know we got them in 1986. Remember Lee Jackson was so wet that they moved the match to Buchtel Field. They set up snow fences to keep back the crowd. Everyone just tore the fence to shreds. By the end of the match, the rabid crowd was practically on the field. That was perhaps the most brutally violent NCAA match ever (see Shaun Docking).

  3. Bravo, Mr. Warner!
  4. God, I hate Indiana Hoosiers!
  5. Describe these yellow cards.
  6. Has this started? I think not.
  7. The grandstands need expanding, even only for reserved seating. Fine. There is no way the west end zone should be season tix. The proof will be in the pudding; just see how the west end zone is empty come next match. This is obvious. It is incomprehensible that someone thought this was a good idea. If ZNO agrees with me, give me a name. I will relentlessly pursue that individual.
  8. It was so bad as to be indefensable. They are wise to remain silent, if they can.
  9. First Energy is a good stadium, much much better than the comparative slum that was venerable Lee Jackson. I think we are suffering from a bit of stadium envy having witnessed Morrison Stadium at Creighton. Now we know why College Soccer News named it #1. Yes, First Energy should be steadily improved over time. An eventual roof would be just great. Having the west end zone as reserved seating is an enormously stupid idea. Whose decision was this? I would like to speak with that party(s). Those seats will not sell except General Admission. Remember that walking around the stadium is a massive commercial for the stadium itself (and an alternative path to the restrooms). That is now impossible for the average fan. Misguided and stupid it is! If the program needs more money, just raise the season tix pricing a bit. I will pay. There should always be plenty of seating available for casual fans. That is how you grow your product. Holy $$$$! Do we still have a Marketing program at UA? Brand Identification will not increase if 95% of available seating is either students or season tix holders. The math will not work. There is not now seating room enough for a family going to an occasional match.
  10. First Energy/Cub Cadet is really nice, way better than we had, but... Morrison @ Creighton is the bomb!
  11. It may have been the Akron Way in the past, but the half-baked incompetence of yester-year is no longer acceptable at UA. Caleb Porter (among others) has taught us to expect better from ourselves and from our university.
  12. I really hate complaining about officiating, but that call was egregious. Upon further review, the AR was blocked from the play and had no business calling anything whatsoever.

  14. I definitely hear you on this one. You make a few assumptions which are probably true, but are assumptions nonetheless. We assume that Jared Embick wants the job. Duh. We also assume that the others on Porter’s staff would stay should Embick take the job. I still want to look around before pulling the trigger on Embick. For all we know, it is already a done deal. Ps. Is it possible that Stuart Dobson has improved Meves’ punts? Can that really happen?
  15. I agree with everything above.
  16. I absolutely love this analysis, Andy. As far as I am concerned, you can discuss formation, tactics, and strategy every match. I also agree with your comparison of Koroma to Mattocks. Darren is a truly rare commodity; a pure finisher, and not much else. Alfred Koroma is closer to Teal Bunbury, playing the complete game. I must say, Koroma's goal vs. Creighton was a beauty.
  17. Holy Cow!
  18. I was hoping my literary allusion to Three Billy Goats Gruff would be sufficient.
  19. Take off? I only respond because you claim to be serious. You are seemingly oblivious to the world around you. International Football "took off" around 1840 A.D. Some suggest an even earlier date of origin. Soccer is currently the most popular social phenomenon on the planet, possibly in human history. Soccer does not need fixing! It is amazingly successful as is. There are long-standing traditions in Soccer that will not suffer capricious tampering. Billions already love Soccer. No one is recruiting you to join them. If something needs changing, make no mistake, it is you. You speak of wasting time. Stop wasting your time by watching, and stop wasting my time with your inane postings.
  20. How about you return to your home under the bridge and wait for some billy-goats to ambush.
  21. Bloody hell! That is even worse than I originally thought.
  22. Yes. Agreed.
