  1. You are killing me!
  2. Men @ Buffalo and Women @ Can't State are both tomorrow, Doug.Right?
  3. I am not sure where Lot 9 is. Incidentally, MY parking lot is adjacent to the Odd Corner on Exchange St., and (conveniently) not too far from Manny's Pub.I will be in form by 5:30, come rain or shine.
  4. Oh no! You do not get off the hook so easily!I, like many others, have come to depend on you for regular updates on the women's program. The team is right on the cusp of winning the MAC. If not this year, surely the next. Several on the team are from Jackson Township, where I live. I follow them.Unfortunately, it is common for humans seeking actualization (college students) to first define who they are NOT, to identify those to exclude. Do not let the bastards bring you down. Keep up the good work.
  5. +1No matter how big of a shafting it was, we still should have wooped Michigan. The crappy field conditions didn't help but STILL shouldn't have been close. Maybe we need to train regularly on a wet field....both of our losses were on games played on wet fields Maybe we should decline TV games, both of our losses were in games played on TV!Not to mention the draw @ home vs. New Mexico.
  6. I hope for a top 4 seed but we need to make sure we get a top 8. Then if the 1 team ahead of us slips up and loses one of its 2 home games it would then become an "Akron Region" and we would have home field for the elite 8 contest.Excellent point! There is plenty of history supporting top 8 (if not top 4) teams winning it all. Outside top 8 is much more problematic. Where are our stats people on this?
  7. Yes, Embick is a fine coach! Hopefully, he will not leave any time soon.
  8. Porter needs to recruit a Forward. Mattocks is likely gone after this season.
  9. Great homage to Porter's 100th win by AK Rowdies! For those of you not present, they were holding aloft large cutouts of a 1, and two 0s after the match, while chanting his name. Nice! AKRs are awesome. edit: Bobby beat me to it.
  10. Nice result on a beautiful evening. There remain many things to improve, but some real progress here. Much more fluidity. What was Porter yelling @ Meves walking toward locker rooms at half time? I could not make it out. Trapp looks really good @ holding MF. Once again, he may have been the MOM. Was Balogun injured? Or was this a way for Porter to get both Schmidt and Holmes on the pitch at the same time? Personally, I like Holmes more at MF than F. Brenes provided an undeniable spark in limited time. I would like to see him get more minutes. Yedlin needs an inside move to get the left footed shot teams are giving him. Defenders are cheating for him to go right, leaving his left wide open. He still manages to beat his man to the right half the time on speed alone. When this kid gains a bit of polish, look out world. Had a few excellent crosses and he always hustles on defense.
  11. The way this is shaking out, it seems as though Speas did not like the prospects of the team in Spring. If you recall, we were all saying the team looked mediocre (at best) during the Spring. Combine that with no guarantee of starting and his decision looks completely understandable. It just bothers me that given what we have now, and seeing his production @ UNC, I think Speas would be starting for us. To be clear, there is no cause for ill will in Zips Nation toward Ben Speas, none whatsoever.
  12. I missed further opportunity to berate Bluem?!?!?!
  13. Both Yedlin and Mattocks must improve the accuracy and timeliness of their passing. This comes with more time on the pitch together. There is no substitute. I disagree with the insinuation that Mattocks is selfish. He is just about as selfish as you want your Striker to be. Perhaps Darren has been guilty of laziness in the past, but not so much this year. He helped preserve the 3 points vs. PSU with his hustle and defense. Game film will show exploitable space along the right flank. Zips will capitalize on this Saturday vs. Hartwick.
  14. I've had worse. He probably has had worse too. As long as the eyeball if intact, he will be fine. Doctors inspected him thoroughly on the sideline.
  15. Do not be confused; you are seeing things correctly. See Porter's post game interview. He says pretty much what you said. That second half was NOT championship soccer.
  16. Here's this week's NSCAA poll. Surprising to me that we're ahead of New Mexico. I agree. Zips Nation, who do you think was a better side, Lobos or Gauchos?
  17. Tailgating must end rule? Sez who? Even Uncle Tommy stopped by and declined a free beer at the tailgating party I was at between games. I believe we were located in parking lot #12 on campus. The party lasted right up to 15 minutes before game time. Actually it's 2 hours after a game, which was about the interval before the soccer game http://www.gozips.com/gameday/fb/tailgating Are people tailgating before standalone soccer games - I'm not even sure. good question, thinking about setting up a tailgating event for Wednesday game. Doesn't hurt to test the rules. Private parking lot adjacent to Odd Corner parking lot is the place to be. There is always a ball kicking around, given room. Manny’s Pub is close by (restrooms), so we are always ready, come rain or shine. Edit: I take my children to one or two games each season. This IS NOT the preferred parking lot for those occasions.
  18. Yeah, I have a #9 to sell you @ a really good price!
  19. Anyone going to Manny's Pub early to watch USMNT?
  20. dont know if thats typical, but that should prove difficult for us. Height also means weight and theyll be able to easily push us around. We'll have to keep the ball out of the air too since they have the clear height advantage. im looking for porter to re-establish the way we normally play via possession and accurate passing to minimize those advantages they may have over us. hopefully we'll also have luke back to compliment maddocks... we desperately need him. We're nowhere near as good as we are when he's out there. We were better with him off the field than on last night. Why do you say that, Tank? True, Holmes did not not play especially well, but no one besidesTrapp brought their A game. I say it because it's true? No one played particularly well (save Trapp) but the team did better with Schmitt in the game than with Holmes. I have no ill will nor personal feelings about it, just my opinion on the game. And don't get me wrong, DeA had the worst game I've seen him play in a long time, so it's not like I'm blaming anything on Holmes. Just curious. I agree with your points. On the bright side, young Mr. Trapp is really coming into his own.
  21. Why was Holmes pulled? Is he injured?

  23. OK. I will back away from the ledge. But it was disconcerting to see our MF shredded as it was last night. I hope it was a blip on the radar screen and not a fundamental flaw surfacing.
  24. I agree. The home streak is in jeopardy. Zips had better figure it out soon or this season will be looked upon as a significant regression.
  25. Holmes must have done something to displease Porter. After exiting the match, he never re-entered during the 2nd half.
