  2. I got the feed just in time to see the goal.
  3. Does anyone have video? I am on the site, but I see no game, just highlights of Real Madrid training.
  4. 8:00 pm EST = 7:00 pm CST ?
  5. We need a contact on the training staff.......
  6. I doubt the training kit is available for purchase. If you learn differently, post here, because those are pretty cool. The game jersey is likely the best you can do. If you are truly posting from London, then that is indeed heart-warming. Do you already know of Ismail Seremba? Which EPL club do you follow?
  7. I too was excited to see the new guys. The "B" team trickled in during the second half. Notable were the players that never left the match: Pina, Souto, Najem. (Somebody correct me on this point if necessary.) Derschang moved up to Forward when Caso came on at LB, and played nearly full 90. I predict the first three players off the bench (in order) will be Matt Foldesy, Clint Caso, and Ismail Seremba. The substitute player that really caught my eye was Louis Cross. He was very confident and economical at CB. He has excellent size and speed. We have no need for a another CB in the first 11, and that is not a position that subs out much. But Cross can step in as needed. So, while Louis Cross is unlikely to supplant Gallego or even Souders, he probably already has the edge on Brad Ruhaak. While discussing Copley products, it pains me to write that Riley Grant did not show well. He is obviously big and fast, but his touch was leaden. Worse yet, he appeared directionless, prematurely aborting runs, making errant passes. He had no linkage and flow to his game. I hope to see him more comfortable and productive as the season unfolds.
  8. ***********Brenes*********** Stevenson*************Portillos Quinn******************Najem ***********Souto************ Derschang*********Abdul-Salaam *****Souders****Gallego******* ************Pina************* I almost exactly predicted the starting lineup. The one very big exception was Adam Najem. I still think Matt Foldesy will contribute significantly this season. Whole team looked comfortable and sharp. Upon loss of possession, whole team swarmed and pressed for ~10 seconds to regain possession. Possession not won within 10 seconds, team retreated to defensive shape. This is the same as it has been for last decade. *Aodhan Quinn is poised for a banner season. *Abdul-Salaam got forward early and often. Team was obviously looking for him every opportunity. *Adam Najem is a first class tactican. Last night, he knew where everyone on the pitch was at any given moment. *Victor Souto ruled the middle circle. It is going to be fun watching him win possession this season. *Jared Embick does not yell nearly as much as Caleb Porter.
  9. Yes, definitely. There was a public Q&A with Coach Embick after the scrimmage, microphone and all. I specifically asked "what system/formation best suits our available talent?" Without hesitation, he answered "4-3-3." I half expected him to say "4-2-3-1," like USMNT. That system is so en vogue throughout the world.
  10. TDS ranks Akron a bit low compared to other sites. But I will take it. #11 is close enough to get good seeding in the post season.
  11. There is no way I can pass on your question! This is just an idea, a guess really. We have few if any great players, but the worst guy on the roster is extremely good. So, the ceiling may be down a bit, but the floor has definitely been raised. This is a very deep squad. ***********Brenes*********** Portillos****************Quinn Stevenson**************Foldesy ************Souto************ Derschang*********Abdul-Salaam *****Gallego*****Souders****** ************Pina************* My projected lineup favors upper classmen and is nearly the same one that took the field @ Maryland in April. After that match, Embick said, "we proved our depth today." So, I am almost certainly wrong about our starting 11. But this is just the way I see it. Of the freshmen, Souto and Najem impress most, in that order. For me, the best battle for PT is transfer Clint Caso pushing Robbie Derschang at LB. I would be remiss not to mention the strong showing of Zac Portillos, both last spring and in pre-season practice. After not much PT the last two seasons, he is making it difficult for the coaching staff to sit him. Nice work out of the senior!
  12. Right. Not sure from where all this GK competition talk is originating. Is Jake Fenlason really good enough to beat Fernando Pina?
  13. We like to call it the Akron Beaven Journal.
  14. I am quoting the last frame on Keisuke Ohata's promotional video. I have never seen this name before today. The new offical roster cannot be even 72 hours old. Embick must know plenty about him. All indicators are that he played the enitire season for AFC Cleveland. CREW8, you out there?
  15. I can hardly wait for Friday!
  16. "Please contact me about laying for your school"
  17. I know a footballer when I see one. After seeing him play five times, I know Victor can ball! Because he enrolled in January, we actually know more about Victor Souto than we know about these other guys. CSN should know Victor, and yet they do not.
  18. The rest of us? Huh!?!?! Are you insinuating that there are other sports on this website? Yes. This would be alarming if this ranking came from a reputable periodical. Sadly, College Soccer News is no longer that. They do not do their homework. Using your example, imagine Street & Smiths neglecting to even mention a projected freshman starter (Victor Souto) in their evalutation of Alabama's or LSU's FDA recruiting class. Incoming Zips class will prove to be among the top ten. http://gozips.com/sports/msoc/2013-14/bios/souto_victor_03n1
  19. The NCAA will know of Victor Souto soon enough! No bout adoubt it!
  20. In most professional sports leagues, talent acquisition rules are, at best, difficult to understand. MLS rules are inscrutable and ever changing. Wow! Deuce and EJ will be formidable.
  21. Gallego is consensus pre-season All-American. Bryan, this is your team.
  22. OK, who knows Practice times and locations? Spill the beans!
  23. No doubt, Trimmy. Match is showing on big daddy FOX. You can watch in any establishment.
