  1. I sorta ran into George Nanchoff walking into the Wake Forest match. He told me Mike is doing very well, in the starting 11, scoring some goals, and he is generally loving life in Sweden. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J%C3%B6nk%C3%...s_S%C3%B6dra_IF https://twitter.com/mnanchoff
  2. Anyone thinking this will be a walk-through is mistaken. And Zips are not healthy. It will take great determination to put away this match early. http://www.buffalobulls.com/sports/msoc/index
  3. This was first quality match since victory over Furman. Well done, boys!
  4. .............Brenes Stevenson......Abdul-Salaam .......Quinn......Najem ..............Souto Derschang............Gallego ......Souders......Cross ...............Pina
  5. I believe I will attend The March tonight. I only waste my time on such silly practices when it really matters. Should I expect it around 6:00 pm? The team needs to feel both the love from their supporters and the gravity of the task at hand.
  6. Forgive me if this has already been posted. Article highlights the relationship between DN and CP. It was mentioned during broadcast of last night's Timbers/Sounders clash. http://www.oregonlive.com/timbers/index.ss...be_profile.html
  7. And so it has come to this. It is unlikely Zips can lose this match and still get a first round bye in the NCAA tournament. http://www.wakeforestsports.com/sports/m-s...occer-body.html Demon Deacons still sit atop ACC.

  10. Let me tell you of expectations. I EXPECT to win the MAC Tournament every single year, and the automatic NCAA Tournament bid that comes along with doing so. Period! Until conference membership changes dramatically, the MAC will remain a second-tier soccer league. And! It! Is! Ours! I EXPECT to beat MAC teams at home, especially squads that do not even have a winning record. Every time! No exceptions! I EXPECT to earn a first round bye to the NCAA Tournament in most, if not every, year. Must have NCAA Tournament matches at home! I EXPECT dominating football! Passion, Poise, and Purpose! I EXPECT a team who EXPECTS to win! I EXPECT some of the best and brightest youngsters on the continent to fall all over each other to sign here. Akron is among the oldest collegiate soccer programs in the country; we are approaching 60 years. There is a great tradition here. No program has more indirect funding or better facilities. A few programs have as good, but none have better. “Possession without penetration is just masturbation, and right now, the Zips are just playing with themselves!”
  11. Stevenson...Brenes....Abdul-Salaam ..............Caso.....Najem................. ....................Souto....................... Derschang..................Gallego..... ............Souder......Cross............ ......................Pena................... Embick is still experimenting. Glad to see Quinn play in the second half. Surrendering late goal was deplorable.
  12. I actually think #20 is a bit charitable. In contrast, watch these highlights from last night's Maryland @ Notre Dame. http://bit.ly/1bHm5Mx Zips had better start finishing! Tonight!
  13. Has anyone been able to verify this?
  14. Spurs? Now I really dislike Shakespeare!
  15. That is terrible news. Best of luck to a charming kid. The challenge was unnecessarily reckless on his part. A young man trying to make a play, but he really sold out for the ball when his prospects were mostly speculative. Hard luck. I feel really bad for the guy and hope for his speedy recovery.
  16. You would know, so you make the call. Parnell's Irish Pub looks a bit high-brow for a rabble such as us.
  17. They are improving, and we are regressing. Even so, if we lose, albeit on the road, to CSU, things will get VERY UGLY. Crew8, where to meet?
  18. Well said. Here is to hoping Coach Embick can right the ship.
  19. Brenes is a Forward forced into playing Striker. See you there. How many drinks?
  20. Those Inglorious Basterds once again invade FE/CC on S/10/5/2013. Hartwick is one of the oldest and storied soccer programs in the land. I remember training to the Hartwick system as a lad. Sadly, under Coach John Scott, Hartwick has sunk to the level of common thuggery. They have no technique, no tactics, and little interest in the beautiful game. But what they do have is a bunch of stout fellows who run fast and tackle hard - very hard. Hartwick would just as soon clatter your ankles as shake your hand. Zips be warned! Watch for the counter on a wet pitch, and wear the heavy shin-guards. http://gozips.com/sports/msoc/2013-14/rele.../20131004e7t3t8
  21. No worries! Just playing along! Most people will not even remember your reference (sadly) because the issue of going to play at UCONN never even came up.
  22. Believe it or not, I still have that match recorded. And I have recently viewed it. Ampai was clearly injured and should have sat out the match. Porter erred in not playing Speas more in MF. Nagbe should have dropped back to MF. Yoram Mwila (RIP) should have played up top with Bunbury. BTW, Teal Bunbury played about as poorly as anyone in that match - and then he won the Hermann Trophy 6 weeks later. Go figure!
  23. Not funny! Of course, the seeding won't matter if we fall in PKs to an inferior opponent AT HOME.
  24. 23-0-2 We will never forget!
