  1. I am certain he meant to write "a turn" meaning turning with the ball. He can either write that Eric turned or that Eric made a turn. But he cannot safely write both, which is what he did. I might add that a turn is a fundamental element of the sport and quite difficult to accomplish efficiently. Eric Stevenson is especially adept at turning, even for this level.
  2. It was very fitting that Eric Stevenson won it in 2OT. He was one of the few Zips having a good tournament. Well done E!
  3. Right. Most of this content belongs on a previous posting, one created specifcally for the appropriate match.
  4. Totally agree!
  5. I beg to differ. VCU GK did nothing spectacular. Zips' finishing was excrutiatingly poor. Sometimes when a net-minder stands on his head it is the deciding factor of the match. That was not the case last night.
  6. You have identified yet another quirk in the NCAA rules. In NCAA Soccer, all OT scoring is sudden death or golden goal. This is one of the few, maybe the only, NCAA rules that I prefer over FIFA. I actually like this one.
  7. Mexico likely will need to win a Home and Away series vs. New Zealand.
  8. That is apples to oranges comparison. 1)International friendly against top 20 national side Belgium. compared to 2)WC Qualifier vs. #1 Futbol (and popular culture) rival Mexico. CBS just might sell out for that.
  9. CONCACAF is one of the six sub components of FIFA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CONCACAF The World Cup is the FIFA World Cup, all under the same governing body. So, the apparatus for ending these shenanigans is already in place, should they ever choose to execute the rules.
  10. My preferred lineup: ....Stevenson.......Seremba...... .................Brenes................... ........Quinn.........Najem........... .................Souto.................... .Derschang...........Abdul-Salaam .........Souders...Gallego........... ...................Pina..................... I want Robbie Derschang to return to old form. He needs to get to the end line and serve that left-footed cross into the box, on the spot.
  11. Clarence Goodson filled in admirably for Matt Besler. Well done, USMNT!!! Dos a Cero!!
  12. Previously unranked VCU Rams enter this week's coaches poll @ #19. http://www.nscaatv.com/rankings/2149/NCAAD.../National/Poll2
  13. Victor Souto may want to pay attention to #24 Devon Fisher. http://www.vcuathletics.com/sports/msoc/20...sher_devon_8q0f
  14. All sports contain the dastardly practice of deceiving officials. The problem is not unique to futbol. I can easily cite numerous examples, in all the sports with which I am familiar. It must be cleaned up in all sports. With such incontrovertible video evidence, FIFA should take disciplinary action against Joel Campbell and also against the officiating crew. History strongly suggests no action will be taken by FIFA, and that Matt Besler’s yellow card accumulation suspension will stand. This will definitely hurt the USMNT tonight vs. Mexico. There are many discussing this particularly egregious flouting of the rules. FIFA is the most retrograde and inflexible athletic governing body the world has ever spawned. The NCAA are circus clowns compared to these crooks. Flail away as you like….. http://www.bigsoccer.com/community/forums/usa-men.131/
  15. I run the risk of hyperbole, so, somebody please stop me. With RPI-laden results vs. UNM and UMD, the VCU match will go a long way in gauging the success of the Zips 2013 season. Who knew VCU was going to be this dangerous? I certainly did not. They are hot! Zips must finish their chances Friday! http://vcuathletics.com/sports/msoc/index
  16. You want positive? OK. Gallego has played very well so far this season. He is every bit the captain of this squad. Keep up the strong work, Bryan!
  17. I hesitate to call the defending champions overrated; I’d say they are underachieving right now. You will never catch me shedding tears for Hoosiers. We are still working on our second star whilst they have eight. But I can tell you of an opponent who is underrated. That would be VCU, who we have upcoming in the home opener. Zips had best be sharp or they will suffer defeat, and that card has already been played for the season. MAC teams cannot lose two and expect a high seeding come tourney time. As fates would have it, Friday's match will weigh heavily on many teams' RPI rating toward season’s end. Be there!
  18. Yeah, I like that lineup.
  19. Brenes converts PK in 2OT for Zips 2-1 victory @ Rutgers. Going into home opener, one wonders at the health of Stevenson and Abdul-Salaam.
  20. Great foul by Gallego in 98th minute, saving a 1v1 on goal! Yellow card was well earned.
  21. I do not see how Seremba can remain a substitute.
  22. And dreams are fading.....
  23. I'd rather have the stream, which we have, but Gametracker is not working.
