No, he plays NAIA. It has nothing to do with the NCAA so no restrictions. Plus I do believe in soccer you can transfer out of your current conference and play right away, unlike football or basketball. That is correct. NCAA allows one transfer without having to sit out for a season.

Soccer 2011 recruiting class

It's Caleb Porter and his incredible coaching. That's why my grandson is coming here from Seattle. -
Caleb Porter on AM 850 between 5-6 Today!!!!
bisbee replied to scottditzen's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Ha, I would guess based on political party that Brown has a much better shot at accomplishing this. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the NCAA Champs always receive the invite. Virginia was at the WH last year, I'm almost positive. Anyone else remember? Virginia was there and i believe that it's an automatic invite. -
There is another freshman defender who you have overlooked. His name is DeAndre Yedlin and Porter has worked with him at U18 national camp. He was recruited as a replacement for Kofi. The kid has an incredible work rate and is a perfect "attacking right back". He is #13 on Top Drawer 100 and plays for the Seattle Sounders USSF Academy. Also don't forget about Will Trapp who is a dynamite mid fielder from Columbus Crew USSF Academy. He is ranked in top 10 on Top Drawer soccer. Both Trapp and Brian Gallegos are currently playing in a tournament in Israel with the U18 national team. Looks like Zips will reload once again.

Beating Ken Lolla makes it that much sweeter
bisbee replied to ZipRoo's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I hate to bring this up at this point but the rumors ofPorter moving on are coming to the surface again. It is now being said that he is heading to NC State. What do you guys who are close to the program think about all this stuff? I am concerned every time I hear this stuff as my grandson is a verbal commit for 2011. Did I miss something? North Carolina State would have to spend a boatload of money. For what? To out shine UNC? Naw, signing Porter isn't the answer. Hiring Ken Lolla for a lot less money works. Louisville, more than Akron needs fear that their coach is headed for greener pastures. At last check, the ACC is thee soccer conference. My money is on Louisville finding themselves in a dog fight to keep their social climbing head coach. If Kenny left Akron for a Big East gig, he'd leave a BE school for the ACC in a New York minute. Plus, with Wake Forest coming to Akron next year and some other excellent OOC games scheduled, Akron is the place to be. 2011 the dynasty continues. Where can I get a copy of the 2011 schedule? -

Lolla vs his old team. Round one
bisbee replied to bobbyake's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I like the matchup against Louisville better than the matchup against Michigan. Michigan has two very dangerous scorers in Saad and Meram. Louisville really does not seem to have a "go to guy". I was not at all impressed with Rolfe's play against UNC. This time there will be no last minute heroics from Louisville's Horton. -

2012 Recruit Andrew Souders in Action
bisbee replied to Z.I.P.'s topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
The Red Bulls player is Brian Gallego and he is captain of U18 national team. He is not on the roster for the U17/18 Academy Allstar game but I would imagine he will be playing in the 3 games that his Red Bull team plays. DeAndre Yedlin of the SeattleSounders and Will Trapp of the Columbus Crew will play in the Allstar game and in the two other club games. Academy players cannot play on 3 consecutive days and the allstar game is saturday afternoon. -
I think I'll still start a new thread, but Bisbee will have a chance to see not only his Seattle Sounders Academy prospect, but also -- if time allows, 2012 Akron recruit Andrew Souders at the Phoenix Showcase. Souders will be playing for the US U17s this week and weekend vs Korea, Brasil and Turkey. Good luck to all. BTW -- does anyone know about the youth showcase at Santa Barbara next week? Will there be any international level players or elite (e.g., Development Academy) teams participating. I think there are two separate youth tournaments aligned with the NCAA College Cup, one in Santa Barbara and one in Camarillo, in Ventura County. No Academy teams playing in Santa Barbara Showcase. I will watch Souders play in phoenix.
-
Unfortunately it looks like there won't be a WARF internet feed for the Cal game and I will be at the USSF Academy showcase in Phoenix watching my grandson play. He's an Akron 2011 commit. Anybody willing to text me with regular updates? Send me a PM and I'll give you my phone number. Thanks alot and GO ZIPS.

Porter isnt going anywhere anytime soon. End of story. Great to hear!!
-
I heard that he will be headed to either Chivas or DC United. If Chivas is the destination, then he'll be reunited with two of his former Zips (Zemanski and Gavin). The above is from a thread on bigsoccer.com talking about Div 1 coaching changes for next season. Poster says he heard this from a source "close to the program". I know there are rumors about this sort of stuff all the time but do any of you have any specifics?
-
What DID happen in the final 10 minutes agains WV? How did they score the 2 goals?
-
As long as they play for 90 minutes the Zips will be fine...no "final 10 minute letdowns" Akron 4 IU 1
