Notre Dame tournament
UAsoccerchamps11 replied to 2Ball's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Unless something was changed the Sunday game starts at 2:15 against ND, not at 7 -
He would have to sit out a year, so he would be our starting center during the post-Zeke era
-
I could see us getting a 4, but i think youre right and we'll end up with a 6 seed. But if nitology is right we would be hosting Illinois at home which would be a very cool game to watch.

Akron has played terrible. If they pull off the win then they got lucky becuase they don't deserve it.

One team i want to see Akron add is Green Bay from the Horizan League, a decent team, but the Main reason i want to play them is they have a very solid 7'1 center in Alec Brown. If we schedule that game I can guarantee there will be some NBA scout to watch Zeke and Alec go at it.

I havent read all of the comments so sorry if someone already posted this... But for the people that say they dont believe in the "if you build theyll come" normally id agree, but when GA seats at Akron arent the most comfortable seats. If we have seats like the Wolstein Center (very comfortable chair-back seats from top to bottom as someone previously stated) then I do believe that is when theyll come. So if we build a complex that can seat up to 7,000 fans with the cushioned chair-back seats we would be doing MUCH better tha. We are right now.

Caleb Porter does it again signing the #3 top ranked high school player, forward Alfred Koroma! With Sounders coming in as the #6 recruit, and I believe the top 2 recruits (according to Top Drawer Soccer) are going overseas, we should have the top ranked recruiting class!
-
We are losing Luke Holmes, Michael Balogun, and Matt Dagilis by graduation. Also Darren Mattocks gone probably number 1 pick in thendraft if not, overseas. Now it gets interesting... I think Scotty is gone, he'll be a first rounder easy. Then i really dont see anyone else leaving. Chad Barson I think will stay. Meves wouldnt be very smart to leave, he's just not ready yet. Will Trapp is very good, hes just not Perry Kitchen one and done good. So from what I see we will be losing 5 starters (Matt started last 7 games so ill count him as one). Obviously the hardest loss is Mattocks but I can see Porter bringing in a natural striker from out of the states again. And with our recruiting class coming in, and the six returning starters with some core bench players, i believe we will be making our third final four appearance in four years.

Trip to Charlotte?
UAsoccerchamps11 replied to anonymous hippo's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I can't believe they don't have a bus for everyone. And I would like to think that season ticket holders would have a bus along with the students -
Six reasons the game will be played in Charlotte: 1) Charlotte was higher "unseeded" than Akron 2) Akron has better attendance and does not mean squat in terms of revenue to the NCAA who rakes in millions off of American football. 3) Akron soccer fans travel better than Charlotte fans. 4) Caleb Porter has brought far too much attention to a sport the NCAA wants to go away. 5) The NCAA really does NOT like Akron. We all too often upset their "apple cart". 6) The weather in Charlotte is nicer meaning that the NCAA officials who have to travel to the game have a better chance of getting in a round of golf. Actually, on sunday Akron is suppose to be 54 with a 40% chance of T-Showers. Charlotte is suppose to be 59 with 40% of T-Showers. So the weather would have been the same at either location.

Charlotte has a better RPI than us so wouldnt it be in Charlotte?

I didn't see the game but I just looked at the stats and can someone tell me why Zeke didn't attempt a shot?
-
+1 Their tallest player is only 6'8" (if you ignore the three guys who are 7'1", 6'10" and 6'9") The 6'9 an 6'10 guys haven't played a minute fr Valpo. And the 7'1 guy averages 8 minutes a game with 1.3 PPG 2.7 RPG and 0 blocks

Wasn't from Ellen You can go through and check them all by clicking on 'POLL VOTES' here. It was Mark Berman from Virginia, The Roanoke Times. He had UA at 25, and CSU at 24.

I remember Dambrot saying at the beginning of last year that Diggs was a special player and he can be an NBA draft pick hes that good. I thought he was a bit crazy but now i can definitely see why he said that

MAC Soccer Tournament
UAsoccerchamps11 replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Even if everyone particpates there still is significance in the regular season by seeding. And if we could get an 8th team in the MAC, I would obviously want the team to be a NCAA tournament contender to boast the conference -
Scores from around the Nation
UAsoccerchamps11 replied to mes102's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
St johns lost to rutgers at home 1-0 in 2OT so that definitely helps the Zips -
Weekly College Soccer Polls
UAsoccerchamps11 replied to GoZipsGoZips's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
What I want to know is how is James Madison (11-2-1) number 6 and Old D (11-2) number 7? Both have played no one but UNC and both teams have lost by 3. And how is St. johns still in the top 10 with 4 losses and UC Irvine #4 with 4 losses... Just doesnt make sense to me. -
Captain Mattocks?
UAsoccerchamps11 replied to yazan07's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Darren was wearing an armband but he is NOT a captain.... During the pregame when the captains met it was only Scotty and Chad with the refs and other captains. -
Intra-squad scrimmage
UAsoccerchamps11 replied to yazan07's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
The scarves are awesome...blue, this year, by the way. Reinaldo Brenes (7) is the scrimmage starter you missed. You also missed Akeil Barrett (11), the Jamacian forward. -
Signing Class analysis
UAsoccerchamps11 replied to Soccershins's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
My uncle lives in Las Vegas and he lives right next to one of the girls thats coming to Akron. He was telling me that she got offers to Penn State who finished tied for first in the big ten with OSU, so i think were getting a very good recruit with her -
Im not worried at all with this loss. We still have great Freshman coming in that will make a difference and Luke Holmes in a transfer. Also last year in a spring game we lost 3-1 to Maryland and look what happened in the fall, National Champs!

2011 MLS Draft Projection
UAsoccerchamps11 replied to Z.I.P.'s topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
In the sports illustrated mock draft they have Seattle drafting Zac MacMath, the Seattle players said they weren't going to draft a goalkeeper. They need an attacking midfielder to soon replace Evans, i believe that's who it is, and I've heard a lot of talk of Ampai going to Seattle.
