  1. I voted once yesterday and once today. I am going to keep voting once a day until the voting ends. Emil truly had a very elite season and is very deserving of winning the Hermann trophy.
  2. Personally, I think that the college cup.....should alternate beween east coast, west coast and middle of the country the powers that be......definitely like Cary, NC https://www.ncaa.com/news/ncaa/article/2024-12-08/ncaa-announces-extended-host-agreements-multiple-championships
  3. Ohio State mauled the Wake Forest whiners 3-0
  4. One NCAA semifinal is set for next week Denver will face Vermont Vermont upset number 2 seed Pittsburgh 2-0 number 3 seed Denver defeated UMass 3-0
  5. Mr. Spelling was also an amazing high school soccer coach as well. His results at Medina were extraordinary. For many years, Mr. Spelling would bring 7 to 8 Meidna players to Akron home games and they would sit a row or two behind me. Coach Spelling would often point out good technique and great efforts to the young men from Medina during the Akron game.
  6. @fknbuflobo you will enjoy the memories with this article Simon Spelling was told that he was not good enough to play for Duke ??? Simon was fantastic. https://gozips.com/sports/2018/4/25/team-of-distinction-1986-mens-soccer

  9. Before today, Stanford was 10-1 in Jeremy Gunn's reign...when the match came down to PK's. Wake Forest just beat Clemson in OT I am rooting for a college cup...with 0 teams from the ACC. Rooting for Marshall to knock off SMU Rooting for Ohio State to beat the whiners from Wake Forest Rooting for San Diego or Vermont to upset #2 Pitt indifferent on UMass at Denver
  10. The Hoosiers are headed home...as they lose 1-0 to #3 overall seed Denver. Good job by the Denver Pioneers !!!!
  11. Wow, thank you for your input. That is a great report. Top Drawer soccer did a special article on Logan Lamaina on August 15, 2024 (shortly after he had announced his commitment to Akron) I have attached below the link to the article. We all know that Akron graduates 2 outstanding center backs (Jonas and Beto). We also know that Akron will return their 2 very good outside defensive backs (Ashton and Josh). Below the link, I will include some small tidbits from the article.....to help us better understand Logan's strengths as a soccer player. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/article/?categoryId=26&articleId=53633&articleTitle=commitments:-looking-to-level-up A talented and versatile player, Logan LaMaina has excelled in every platform of youth soccer. Formerly a striker, LaMaina has since moved back, playing as an outside/wing back for his club side while also gaining experience in central defense at Pennridge High School in Southeastern PA. Along with competing for Sporting, he’s played for FC Bucks/Hex FC and PA Dominion FC. “A thing I really liked about the program that was a deciding factor was they play in a very high level conference which is something I've always wanted to do,” LaMaina said.
  12. well done to 2 outstanding student athletes https://gozips.com/news/2024/11/26/pair-of-zips-garner-csc-academic-all-district-mens-soccer-honors

  15. Thank you to the 7 seniors.......that left everything out on the pitch today and all year. Malik Henry Dyson Clapier Emil Jaaskelainen Beto Ydrach Jonas Buechte Wan Kuzri Wan Kamal Victor Gaulmin They were ironmen all year......They were rarely subbed off the zips that were on the team for several years.....all improved very much during their time at the U. Best wishes to all 7 starting seniors ...wherever the future takes you. Zips Nation loved to watch the 7 of you compete. THANK YOU
  16. The Zips lost two first team Big East players to injuries during the game. I am disappointed but I am very proud of the zips.
  17. with Dyson hurt, zips need to bring in a left footed play maker Maximus Barboto, please
  18. IU is definitely dirty. Dyson took elbow to face
  19. these announcers are so biased.... Ashton Kamdem had a tremendous first half... Malik was incredible.... would be nice for Malik to get a goal in the 2nd half.... Mitch has a right to get the ball in the box. Mitch got there first....Dangerous play by IU. Let's go, Zips!!!
  20. nice article from student newspaper at IU as I mentioned earlier, Akron and IU both started the seasons very slowly...... but both have come on like gang busters during the IU streak when they went 8-0-1, IU scored 32 goals (more than 3.5 per game) https://www.idsnews.com/article/2024/11/indiana-soccer-ncaa-tournament-akron-iu-bloomington-hoosiers
  21. It is well overdue to get a win in Bloomington The Hoosiers have never lost to the Zips at home, boasting a 16-0-2 record as the host. https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2024/11/23/mens-soccer-no-14-hoosiers-host-akron-in-ncaa-tournament-second-round
  22. Posting 7 minutes of highlights for those who did not get to see the game or 7 minutes of highlights for people that watched the game live in 35 degrees weather ENJOY Go, Zips
  23. Indiana had 4 players (the most of any team ) on the Big 10 all conference first team Indiana also has the Big Ten offensive player of the year https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2024/11/8/mens-soccer-nine-hoosiers-earn-big-ten-postseason-awards
  24. speaking of the Hermann Trophy....did I miss an announcement in Mid November...about Emil being one of the 15? Hermann Trophy Selection Timeline Mid-August – Men’s and women’s Preseason Watch list is released (Approximately the top 40 males and top 40 female Division I college soccer players from the previous season) Early October – The “Candidates We Missed” campaign. College SIDs can energize their fans to nominate a player who did not make the Preseason Watch List to make the ballot in November. Mid November – The semifinalists (top 15 men and top 15 women) are announced. The voting of Division I coaches begins.
  25. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/article/?categoryId=21&articleId=54105&articleTitle=mens-ncaa-tournament-round-two-preview No. 5 Akron(m) (12-4-4) at No. 4 Indiana(m) (10-4-5) - Sunday, November 24th, 1 PM Eastern, ESPN+ Two of College Soccer’s blue bloods meet as Akron travels to Indiana. The story of this match is what Indiana can do, if anything, to slow down NCAA Division I top scorer Emil Jaaskelainen. And even then, the Zips have several more attacking talents like Malik Henry, Dyson Clapier, and Victor Gaumlin, who can wreak havoc. But Indiana is on a nine-year streak of making it past the second round, suggesting Todd Yeagley and his staff will have the answers.
