  1. Akron now has the 3rd largest University in Ohio and enrollment is still growing about to surpass 30,000 so why suggest a new arena with only a capacity of around 7,000? Aim higher
  2. shoot they got more bids than the ACC this year lol
  3. True i agree with that but I also think them now playing in the A-10 alone helps their recruiting as the A-10 usually gets multiple NCAA Tourney bids. A record 9 A10 teams Are playing post season this year http://www.atlantic10.com/sports/m-baskbl/.../031713aab.html
  4. And in regards to VCU being better and more athletic than Akron in my opinion I contribute that to VCU now playing in a better more superior conference. (A-10). The quality of play is leaps and bounds better than the MAC.
  5. I came out of high school in Richmond VA and know a lot of people that attended VCU including my mom. VCU's success didn't happen overnight. Its been 15 years since VCU started putting a lot of focus on their basketball program. They opened up a new arena in 1999 that has a capacity of 7,617 at a cost of $30.1 mil. They currently have the 13th highest home court winning percentage in D1 and is arguably the toughest place to play in the A-10. Coach Jeff Capel jumped started the new era leading them to a 23-8 record and a trip to the NCAA as a #13 seed giving #4 Wake Forest a run for their money. At the height of his success Jeff Capel left and took the HC job at Oklahoma. (Recruited Blake Griffin) In comes Anthony Grant who led them to a school record 28 wins in his 1st year and the Eric Maynor (Best player in the school history) era begins. 2007 as an #11 seed Eric Maynor puts VCU on the national map single handily burying #6 seed Duke Blue Devils. The next round they took #3 seed Pittsburgh into overtime after coming back from 15 down. 24-10 in 2009 and another trip to the NCAA Tourney. Anthony Grant 76–25 record in his three seasons. Destroyed the CAA going 52-10. After the 08-09 season he left and took the job at Alabama. Then in comes Shaka Smart. Overall VCU had 2 great coaches prior to Shaka but during that time they were too cheap in regards to paying them. They almost lost Shaka but this time around the Alumni/Boosters and student body stepped up. VCU actually raised tuition to accommodate Shaka Smarts salary and the students overall had no problem with it. http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/26283066/29566438
  6. All this finger pointing is pointless to me especially the people that are questioning KD as the coach. My only beef with KD is the fact that we have like 7 guards on the team but only one guard who is of course no longer with the team can actually handle the ball. It absolutely makes no sense to have that many guards on the roster especially on scholarship and none of them can handle the ball. If we had a ball handler last nights score would look a lot better. Akron literally had no time to set up plays because damn near all their energy was used on getting the ball across the court. I've seen players in the UA Rec Center with better handles
  7. Zac Jackson ‏@FSOhioZJackson Dambrot: Shaka has a job to do. His job is to get them ready for the next game. I take no offense to it.
  8. now thats just a sore loser talking right there smh
  9. ESPN Stats & Info ‏@ESPNStatsInfo VCU leads Akron by 42. The record for largest margin by a 5-seed over a 12-seed is 35 points.
  10. They definitely deserve to be there They don't deserve whats happening to them right now
  11. Game on CBS prime time for the world to see and the play by play guys said what happened to him. Actually said marijuana It gets no worse than that
  12. Demetrius Treadwell and Zeke Marshall have 19 of the team's 25 points.
  13. Call me dumb but looking at our overall roster Excluding Abreu & a red shirt freshmen we have 5 other Guards on the roster. If none of them can handle the ball = why even have them on the roster?
  14. Should build a multipurpose arena to capitalize on letting it be rented out for events as there is no other arena in the immediate area. Richmond Coliseum Capacity 13,553 (concerts) 11,992 (basketball) 11,088 (hockey)
  15. I totally understand what you said but what irked me is the fact that what i originally said wasn't negative at all but a MOD himself and nobody else thought so and he deleted it. I gave him a serious response voicing my frustration just like others have done on here in the past 48 hours and he gives me a unprofessional response dropping an F Bomb. If thats how he and other Mods feel about new members then fine then. I know I am not wanted here and the previous poster supporting the Mod's actions further verified that. If the Mod would of gave me the same type of reply you did then everything would of been fine as i understood that. I am a Proud Akron Alum Class of 2006 currently living in MD and a active booster for both the football & basketball programs and was happy to find this board. But if everything thing on here is one dimensional and heavily censored and scripted in regards to members not being able to express an unpopular opinion then yes this is definitely not to place for me. I will do like the great Mod said and "use the appropriate f*cking thread" on another board.
  16. So you support moderators bullying everyone around dropping F Bombs but turn right around and police & sensor us for doing the same thing Quite sad if you do
  17. I think the student sections did well last night. Watching the game on tv that building looked electric. I remember the Hipster days when minutes before the game we could jog over to the Jar after eating at Robs and get AK-Rowdy floor seat tickets behind the hoop because nobody knew about them. Place was barely half filled when literally Porenza could do his walk around at halftime and shake everyones hand. We have definitely come a long way.
  18. Great story Thanks for sharing
  19. Oh so now you gotta resort to dropping f bombs in response. Very classy of you. Lets not sit here and act like post were not deleted in the Abreu thread too. Lets not sit here and act like there weren't repeated request in the abreu thread to keep things positive. Its a shame this website could really be something special for loyal zips fans but unfortunately the people who run are egoistic control freaks. And what i said in my deleted post was honest and not negative. Waits for you to delete this post or drop another F Bomb.
  20. Seriously how can you expect to gain members on this board if yall keep deleting people's post. This board is more strict than the beacon journal's board. if we cant express our feelings/poi9nt of view on here than why bother posting at all? Too much of a dictatorship going on ridiculous
  21. Th A-10 would be a better fit for Akron would travel be a pain? yes but shoot look at West Virginia who is playing their 1st season in the Big 12
  22. UPS or FedEx still a federal offense Hopefully it stays on a State Level
  23. In general If the drugs cross state lines or are placed in the US Mail, then it becomes a matter under federal jurisdiction. It should be a federal offense because the U.S. postal service was used to ship an illegal substance. The postal service is a federal entity. Yes, even if he is the receiver he can be charged with trafficking in illegal drugs and using the US Mail to further the criminal activity. There are multiple ways the charged could be filed though, depending upon the prosecutor. The crimes can be charged in either or both State and Federal courts.
