  1. Just to clarify, I believe AJ Price will be coming here as a junior in terms of eligibility. So maybe he can be MAC Newcomer of the Year, but he can't be MAC Freshman of the Year.
  2. Manchester OL Matteo to WVU
  3. Thanks for the links, B&G Since Nik is a known commodity, I don't mind at all the fact that he won't be making the trip. Hopefully Egner's concussion is subsiding. Egner practiced today. Thanks, ZW! I was hoping he would be able to take advantage of the playing time.

  5. Nice to see him get off the schnide. It must have been fun seeing it live. Thanks for posting the video!
  6. It's a bit unsettling that his Dad lists commits for several other players on the Red team, but not his son. I heard the kid was giving serious consideration to Wright State. Wright State? That's just rong. Maybe not? http://www.google.com/search?q=wright+stat...lient=firefox-a Let me put that another way. Wright State? That's just rong

  8. Did we really "lose" him? I don't even see where he was offered by us. Just because he considered us doesn't mean that he could have come here to play. Somebody at Akron must have contacted him. Why else would he have considered Akron of all places? Damn lost a 5'8" running back/wide receiver to Waldorf. We could have converted him into a corner-back. He probably received a general letter from the coaching staff where they gave him information on the school, program, etc.... I got a ton of these when I was in high school. They didn't all turn into offers, but they made you look into the school just in case. Since Waldorf is a Junior College (and one which has provided a few players for UA in the past), isn't it possible that grades (or eligibility in general) are an issue here? Whatever the case, I'm not sure I'm too disappointed by this.
  9. Here's an article on Kretzer. You have to like KD beating Miami and JMU for him
  10. I picked Oklahoma-Oklahoma St just because they usually have some crazy games in Stillwater and I like the word "bedlam". I went with Patterson as well for the same reasons. I was true to my conference also. I selected the flaming spear Seminole guy because I always thought he was pretty intimidating. I went with an odd choice for game day experience. Although I've never been there, images and video of Husky Stadium right there next to Lake Washington look spectacular.
  11. Not surprisingly, it's Klinsmann.
  12. I'll try to remember that if I ever get the chance to speak to Coach McCloud. Are you sure you don't mean 1988? I seem to recall a stretch of home games where the Zips beat 3 Big West (or whatever they were called at the time) schools in the Rubber Bowl. Some Zip fans were deriding the "Cali Boys" since it looked like they wanted no part of playing football in typically cold/rainy Ohio late fall conditions. That was a big factor in the beatdown. I think the UA athletic dept must have lost a small fortune on those games. Edit: The island climate must have better suited the '49ers that year! On another note, let's get out there and vote for the MAC! Come on GP1, you know you want to The Sunbelt isn't even listed as an option
  13. I feel the same. I'm going to Cincy this year and hitting a Reds game the night before. +1 (minus the Reds game, although that's not a bad idea). I guess I don't mind UC stealing my money
  14. Yet another seat-of-the-pants preview, complete with nearly 2 year old picture of CJ11 handing off to DK. One interesting line deals with special teams. How does this writer know that incoming FR AJ Fox will win the starting PK job?
  15. Here is another article on Franco. Note he attends Tyrone Area HS, not Seneca Valley.
  16. If they make "big strides" this year, I'll be real excited about this year on that side of the ball. I am pretty confident the front 7 can get things done. We need our secondary to step up. The secondary and the offensive line are my biggest concerns (placekicking can't get much worse, right?). Browning seems to have a lot of respect among the coaching establishment, so I'm hoping that in his second year with a lot of these same guys we'll see improvement here. I know a lot of publications and fans are pointing to the lack of proven commodities at the skill positions, but I really think we're in much better shape there than people realize. Suel and Price will both be very good IMHO and either Sconiers or Russell will take it up a notch. Meriwether should have a definite role as well. It sounds like Richard Hall is still with the team, so he has a real shot to be a weapon at TE. There is depth there as well. And you know how I feel about #44. He won't do it alone, but he'll pull more than his fair share. So I agree 100%. A decent year out of the secondary (with an assist from what could be a good pass rush) will go a LONG way towards turning things around here.
  17. Here is another Bleacher Report article with more details, also written by Jack "The Love Boat" Jones (no relation to June).
  18. Thanks and good luck to both of you next year as well.
  19. Although not part of MLS yet, Montreal adds ex-Zip defender Cameron Knowles to the roster, joining Evan Bush there. Maybe this will help the Impact get out of their season long funk (although scoring goals has been the big issue, with Evan playing pretty well since pressed into service due to an injury to former starting keeper Bill Gaudette).
  20. Maybe the floodgates have started to open? Franco commits. Apparently he'll be the only QB in this class which makes sense given the numbers there on the current roster.
  21. Nice work, Dr. Z! Getsy to Hixon speaks for itself. I wonder if that Patriot Bowl trophy is in the Info somewhere? Frenchy's WMU call never gets old. A fairly high percentage of people who talk about the game where Leftwich was carried down the field by his O-line somehow seem to forget that Akron won. Ryan Myers could really hit. It's tough seeing #48 playing his heart out in the PSU game. R.I.P. Tyler.
  22. Thanks for the awful reminder on the stats. It heightens the embarrassment when we're reminded that our only scores were a field goal right as the half ended (when we were down 35-0), and a fumble recovery return. Sorry, Skip. It was definitely a dumpster fire day. Come on guys, let's focus on the positive. Have another look at that sweet catch by Lavell Bailey Let's turn those upside down
  23. Interesting article on UA polymer research on spider silk. Here is the full report. It's great to see an ex-NFL quarterback having so much success in a completely different field!
  24. Are you sure it's not Andy Staples or Michael Rosenberg?
  25. Exactly. If this staff has any motivational skills, this poll should serve as a big reason to show everyone just how wrong the prognosticators were when they voted.
