  1. UA "restructuring" KD's contract. This is expected based on the circumstances, and richly deserved as well.
  2. This one is written in the context of the new spread offense: If a jock can catch and block, he'll also tote the rock.
  3. Thanks for the QB info, George! You're right; we can't get enough of it. I'm curious about one of your comments on the RB situation. You mentioned that you feel Chisholm is a more powerful runner than Alexander. Now I've been a huge fan of #44 from day 1, but I'm a little surprised at that assessment. I'll admit the thing that 1st caught my eye last spring was Jawon's willingness to hit the hole HARD and fast (although as many have noted, the last 1/3 of the 2011 season this willingness disappeared for some reason). But I've always looked at Broderick as being more of a "bruiser". If Jawon looks more powerful to you at this point, then this is good news indeed. Because he has shown that he DOES have another gear that makes him capable of hitting the home run. I really like what I'm hearing concerning both players this spring. Coach Bowden seems to genuinely like what he's seen from them so far.
  4. You mean Valentin, not Zemanski, correct? Regardless, you are right but Ubi's been hurt. The worst thing about the Bush situation is that Marsch has Sutton ahead of him at GK as well.
  5. Well at least he's sticking with team. If you recall, he was the MVP of a New York (State) all-star game after his SR year, but much of that was due to his running ability. I think he can make plays in space, so I'm looking forward him getting those opportunities. They NEEDED to weed out the QBs this spring. We still have 2 more arriving in August.
  6. Meant to post this a while back, but did anyone else catch the final KD show on STO where he mentions thinking "outside the box" with regard to recruiting the bigs (2 fives and a four, or 2 fours and a five) for 2013? It made me think he might be looking overseas (total speculation on my part). Thoughts?
  7. Good luck, Patrick! I hope you can find an offense suited to your skills. I still say you have the ability to throw the deep out about as well as I've seen in college.
  8. Nominee for silliest statement of 2012. So what time shall we be expecting you for breakfast this Saturday?
  9. CBS Sports Blog I was too slow for DiG I'm not sure I'd be too happy with my school paying that large of a salary for this guy if I was an OU fan.
  10. My bad. Thanks for the correction
  11. THIS was the purported offer: Thanks for the loyality, KD!!!
  12. The last post (1:03 pm) says KD has "turned down Duquesne according to an Akron radio host". I'd say it was probably more like he let them know he wasn't interested.
  13. Watching Kentucky just now, I still can't see why Calipari revoked Dakota's scholly offer
  14. Nice find, Keener! Looks like there's a good chance we'll be seeing Giorgio tote the rock for the other team at the Info this year. It'll be the 2nd year in a row where a former Zip RB has returned to Akron to run against the Zips.
  15. Count me in the camp that wishes Groce had stayed and Cooper will stay (even though I'll never care for his game, and can't see how a guy like Kellogg doesn't want to rip into him every time he launches a 30 footer when better shooters are wide open). I want the Zips to beat the best the MAC has to offer. This year, even though some here think we "should" have won the tournament (as if the Zip talent was head and shoulders above all others, including Ohio), UA came up an eyelash short. I was looking forward to seeing if the Zips could reverse that result in 2012-2013. Nevertheless, I agree that the demise of the Bobcats with Groce in Champaign may be greatly exaggerated. I still think the MAC has a great opportunity for two bids next season.
  16. More info from GT on JR day There is also a direct answer to the "dual threat QB" question in there.
  17. Thanks to GT for following up with one of our more interesting curiousities of spring football this year! His 13 years of baseball give me at least some hope that he's developed decent hand eye coordination in the past. Those skills don't leave you. And the track-to-football transition is not exactly unprecedented. Bob Hayes and Renaldo Nehemiah are just 2 NFL WRs who successfully made the switch. Still, the odds are against Phil I'll admit. But is there anything more exciting than the true, old fashioned, deep threat who can stretch the defense like nothing else? I look forward to seeing him get a shot or two at the spring game.
  18. Delusional is a good way to describe some of the people who follow Duquesne hoops. As someone who grew up in Pittsburgh, I can vouch that there has long been a group of fans and administrators who are planted firmly in the past. To them, a return to the days of the "Iron Dukes" or Norm Nixon (heckuva player, BTW) or the Eastern Eight surely can't be too far around the corner. It may be hard to believe today, but up until the late 70's and early 80's the Dukes battled it out pretty evenly with the Panthers for Steel City supremacy and regional relevance. The breakup of the Eastern Eight really stifled any chance the Dukes could compete long term however. Pitt was accepted into the Big East and their program absolutely took off, perhaps best illustrated by the decision to tear down beloved Pitt Stadium and build a first class basketball facility in its footprint. And some of the Duquesne followers have had a really hard time watching Pitt ascend to the levels they have. I'm certainly not justifying this move, as I believe firing Everhart was totally foolish. I'm just saying it doesn't surprise me.
  19. If he's thinkiing about coming out early, I wonder if Cooper will consult former teammate Armon Bassett. That move worked out pretty well for Bassett
  20. This schedule is just right. Besides the points already made, the open weekend prior to the Toledo game is most fortunate. That's the weekend of the Puerto Rico tip-off! Who's in for the highly prized San Juan/Toledo double?
  21. Thanks
  22. Edit: BG is still in the East (I was mistaken). I don't like skipping UB, but I'm sure this was a difficult task given Temple's hasty departure.
