  1. You're on it! And I 2nd the notion.
  2. I think people are putting far too much weight into Western Michigan’s poor record. They’ve been hit by more injuries and suspensions than any other team in the league, with the possible exception of Miami. Now that they’re healthy (especially Whitfield and Ward), Hawkins has a nice assortment of pieces with which to assemble a pretty decent basketball team. You might even argue that the injuries, in the long run, could very well help them com MAC tournament time by allowing Whittington, Ritchie and others to emerge as contributors. Write it down. WMU will knock off an unfortunate MAC East team in the tournament. People are complaining about KD’s coaching last night. While I’ll agree Nik and Nitro were repeatedly offensive on the offensive side, I think KD deserves credit for recognizing and exploiting the mismatches Tree and Zeke posed inside. That’s where the tide turned. I love having both of those guys on the floor together. I'll add this. At the beginning of the year it was as if the Zips didn't know how to win a close game. Now they play like they don't know how to LOSE a close game. That, in itself, is HUGE at this point in the season.
  3. Oh man, he can't be too happy with Q right now Well the over was out of play by then anyway I suppose. We may have been fortunate to escape, but Zeke & Tree were beasts when we absolutely needed them to be. Awesome job big fellas
  4. Glad I was wrrrrrrrrrrrrrongggggggggggg!!! Way to go Zips! ps. I don't want to play these guys again
  5. Am I the only one who is a little uncomfortable with the timing of this discussion? Flenard Whitfield is back in the starting line-up, Skidmark is coming off the bench and the Broncos would like nothing better than to end this speculation right here and now. Factor in Saturday's 30 point blowout of EMU and tonight's game is probably KD's biggest challenge, from a motivation standpoint, all season.
  6. I hope I'm way off, but I have a feeling WMU is going to try to rough up the Zips tomorrow and will have significant success courtesy of some typically uneven MAC officiating. This coupled with the FT woes will finally catch up with us. Zips 67 Broncs 70
  7. Here's a local story on Zip QB coach AJ Milwee.
  8. Another nice story on Chase, this one from CBSSports.com. No mention of Akron, though
  9. A composite CBSSports.com ranking of newly hired head coaches for 2012 has Coach Bowden at no worse than 15 out of 26. They'll be releasing #6 through #15 from their list on Wednesday. Note UT's Matt Campbell is ranked dead last (I completely disagree, but it's interesting nonetheless).
  10. It looks like UA benefited from the coaching turnover at Pitt, WVU, and Rutgers to land Dylan.
  11. I caught a replay right after the KD show. It made me want to see a "point/counterpoint" TV segment with Dr Z vs. the Great GP1 Or perhaps a tag-team match: Wilbon & Dr Z vs. Kornheiser and GP1
  12. I liked the conversation with and about Q as well. The fact that there's coaching background in Q's family provided some insight into his competitiveness. And Joe also contrasted Q's on and off court personalities. I liked Q saying "he's all business between the 4 lines". I have a better understanding of how and why he behaves the way he does during games, and I'm more willing to accept a few moments of "overdoing it" now that I see where he's coming from.
  13. I was greatly intrigued by this Kelley the 1st time I ever read about him and his philosophy. It begs the obvious question. Do you think any D-1 head coach would ever have the cojones to implement such an extremely aggressive approach?
  14. See prior ZNO discussion
  15. I emailed Gregg today and he responded in a thorough and timely fashion. He mentioned that he put Marla Ridenour in contact with Chase a few weeks ago. He gave me several links to numerous pertinent articles, a few of which I had not yet seen. Most importantly for me, he showed me an underused (for me anyway) tool at GoZips.com, the “In the News” tab on the front page of the site. Today’s coverage provides numerous links related to Chase and the Super Bowl, including video of the interception and a PD story by Mary Kay Cabot that clearly connects Chase to the U of A.
  16. I believe it's time to give the UPA its own thread, as many of the stories covering it get buried in the general "UA in the news" thread. Here is an ABJ article on increase (private) security for the southern edge of campus. I thought this was timely since SeeTeeZip had recently cited this as an area of opportunity for increased UA/City cooperation.
  17. It's nice to see the girls exacting some revenge for men's hoops. In addition, this might help the 'Meister forget about the rifle team's most unfortunate "Morgantown Massacre".
  18. You might say Chase took Tom Brady to school
  19. A 2nd ring for Chase (and Hixon I think....not sure if you get one on injured reserve)!
  20. I'm surprised there's been no comment so far on Chase's interception. Sure he got burned by Hernandez on the earlier TD, but that was one heckuva play made far downfield by a LB who is primarily a run stopper. Great job Chase! Let's finish strong!
  21. He looks like he moves fairly well and he definitely has nice size, especially for a MAC LB
  22. I agree that's a big part of it. But I will add that I thought the student sections were much better coordinated in their cheers last night than they have been most of this season. I especially enjoyed the "shots" at the MAC refs Hopefully the students will build off of last night and gain strength down the stretch, so they're at the top of their game come Q time.
  23. Well a zone always slows down a driver/slasher/mid-range guy like Pearson. With EMU using the 2-3 almost exclusively, it's understandable Rian had some difficulty with them. After all, it (the 2-3) was the only thing that slowed him down for UA. Back to the game: Zips 62 Eagles 56
  24. That's awesome! Congrats to Steve!
  25. I completely agree that there is an element of deperation with this hire. But I think, in the end, the situation will have been proven to warrant it. The dual forces of conference realignment and Zip football apathy (near empty Info) conspired to frighten LP into considering all options. You know what they say about desperate times and desperate measures.
